(i)GCSE English Language and Literature Online Tutor

Start Date: ASAP

Working hours: Part-time, flexible

Salary: £30-40 per hour, depending on experience

Prominent Education, part of the Xinlung Group, specialises in high-quality, tailored tuition across a wide range of subjects. Due to increasing demand, we are seeking experienced tutors to deliver (i)GCSE English Language and Literature tuition online.

Candidate requirements

Essential

Proven track record of success teaching or tutoring (i)GCSE English Language and Literature

Teaching experience across different exam boards, including CIE

Familiarity with a range of literary texts and the requirements of different exam boards

Availability approximately 10:00am – 2:00pm, on both weekdays and weekends

Degree in English or a closely related subject

Recognised teaching qualification

Able and willing to provide an enhanced DBS check

Right to work in the UK

Preferred

Examiner experience for an (i)GCSE English exam board (rate negotiable up to £45/hour)

Extensive experience teaching international students, with a strong ability to support Chinese students

Mandarin-speaking ability (ideal)

Experience teaching in a UK secondary school or international/independent school setting

Experience creating English revision resources or practice assessments

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality one-to-one and small group online tuition in (i)GCSE English Language and Literature

Create tailored lesson plans, homework, and revision resources for students

Support students with literary text analysis, essay writing, and exam-board-specific requirements

Provide clear, constructive feedback and set achievable learning goals

Support students with exam technique and confidence-building

Flexible, variable hours during approximately 10:00am – 2:00pm, with some afternoon/evening work also available
