Job DescriptionPart-Time Commercial Business Analyst

Hours: 8 hours per week (flexible)

Location: Hybrid / Remote with occasional meetings as required

Reports to: Managing Director

About the Role

We are looking for an ambitious, analytical and highly motivated individual to join our growing business in a flexible part-time role.

This position would be ideal for a university student, recent graduate or someone looking for a part-time opportunity to gain genuine commercial experience while earning alongside their studies or other commitments.

Working directly with the Managing Director, you will analyse customer data, research markets, identify opportunities and create professional presentations that help us win new business. Your work will directly influence customer meetings, commercial strategy and sales success.

The Opportunity

Unlike many part-time roles, this position gives you genuine responsibility from day one.

You'll help develop customer proposals worth tens or even hundreds of thousands of pounds by producing clear, data-driven insights that demonstrate the value of our services. Your work will help businesses reduce costs, improve efficiency and make better commercial decisions.

As the company grows, there will also be opportunities for the role to develop with increased responsibility.

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Analysis

Analyse customer data to identify trends, opportunities and cost-saving solutions.
Build financial models and commercial business cases.
Research customers, competitors and industry trends.
Produce reports, dashboards and performance summaries.
Identify opportunities to improve customer operations and procurement strategies.

Presentation & Proposal Development

Produce professional PowerPoint presentations for customer meetings.
Convert complex information into simple, engaging visual presentations.
Create graphs, charts and infographics that clearly communicate commercial value.
Develop customer case studies and return-on-investment calculations.
Support the preparation of tenders and commercial proposals.

Commercial Support

Work directly with the Managing Director on strategic business opportunities.
Assist in preparing quotations and customer proposals.
Maintain customer information and commercial records.
Develop templates, reporting tools and internal business processes.
Support marketing and business development activities where required.

Skills & ExperienceEssential

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent PowerPoint presentation skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently.
Highly organised with excellent time management.
Confident learning new software and technology.

Desirable

Studying towards (or recently completed) a degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Data Analytics or a related subject.
Experience using Power BI or other reporting tools.
Previous experience working with data or creating presentations.
Commercial awareness and interest in business development.
