The Role
We are an established multi-disciplinary CAMHS Learning Disability service based in Airbles Road in Motherwell. We work across Lanarkshire, providing a tier 3 mental health service to children and adolescents with a Learning Disability.
The post holder will be the Psychology Lead for the CAMHS – LD service and will line manage and support a small team of Psychology staff.
The role will provide professional leadership in developing and delivering the highest quality Clinical Psychology service to the children, adolescents and their families, and the Health and other agency professionals working with them, where complex, often chronic mental health concerns and needs, including risk, trauma and abuse, loss, separation and self-harm, are present.
To ensure (through supervision and high-quality support for continuing professional development) delivery of the highest quality contributions, within this area of psychological knowledge, skills and perspectives, based on an in-depth understanding of child, adolescent and family development and the ways in which systems (families, communities, organisations delivering health, education and social care) they grow up and live in, impact on that development and peoples’ capacities to cope when difficulties arise, applying the finding of up to date evidence-based practise to this task.
This role includes taking the lead and supervising Psychology staff to develop their capacity to take a lead in training, consultation and supervision of both unqualified and qualified clinical psychologists, to colleagues within the multi-disciplinary service, and to colleagues from other disciplines in other parts of the health service and other agencies. The role also involves initiating and supporting research and audit, both independently and as part of the area service’s audit and research activities.
To ensure the creation and maintenance of good working relationships with the other agencies in the local authority, education and health service networks.
To participate with psychology and multi-disciplinary colleagues, taking the lead as appropriate in discussions, negotiations and meetings with senior managers regarding matters of planning, strategic development standards, and service and team policies regarding clinical, operational policy, performance review, and service development matters.
The Psychology team have close links with both CAMHS and Psychological Services for Adults with Learning Disabilities, with access to relevant CPD across these specialties.

To hold a postgraduate doctoral level degree in Clinical Psychology, or equivalent qualification, and to be eligible for Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist
- To have extensive assessed clinical post-qualification experience in this speciality, exercising full clinical responsibility for patient care within a multi-disciplinary and multi-agency context.

Continuing post-qualification training, through post-qualification courses, workshops and conference attendance, in specialised psychological therapies for working in his specialty and service and on issues involved in supervision, teaching and management.
- Maintain eligibility for a practising certificate with the HCPC by maintaining CPD through complete further courses of additional learning relevant to the clinical and other professional skills required for the post and for professional/career development, s identified jointly in the personal development plan.

To have completed an accredited post-qualification training conferring recognised competence to supervise doctoral trainees in clinical psychology.
