Academic Tutor, Alternative Education Provision

Are you passionate about helping children in need of support and opportunities? Are you looking for a

challenging and rewarding role within an Alternative Provision? If you’ve answered YES to any of the

above, we want to hear from you!

Farm Club offers interim high dependency support to primary and secondary age students who are

struggling to engage socially and academically in the classroom environment. High dependency

provision at Farm Club is reflective of our staff ratios, the needs and requirements of the child and their

families, as well as the approach that is taken to reintegrate a young person back into mainstream or

specialist schooling. As a high dependency provision, we are able to supply outstanding resources, a

tailored curriculum and dedicate unwavering time and attention to the children in our care, with careful

consideration of the level of need required for each individual.

seeking a confident individual with a positive attitude and an ability to be highly adaptable. Ideal

candidates will have a professional and positive attitude towards supporting young people on their

journey through alternative provision.

Farm Club is a space for children to learn to understand the importance of following rules and

instructions, to work on their ability to emotionally regulate, to receive help and support with

communication difficulties, to build an appetite for learning and development and to be supported to

develop their social integration and communication skills.

The position of Academic Tutor will involve delivering sessions for students in line with the Farm Club

learning programme. To ensure students are getting maximum benefit from their time with Farm Club,

we require an individual with experience who can demonstrate compassion, creativity, vigilance,

patience, and resilience.

Essential Requirements

Qualifications

● Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

● Minimum of two years’ classroom teaching experience.

● Relevant professional qualification, training, or recognised experience appropriate to the role.

Experience

● Experience of working with children and young people with SEND, complex needs, and/or

● challenging behaviour.

● Experience of delivering education or therapeutic interventions in a child-centred environment.

● Experience of multi-agency working and collaborative practice.

● Experience of working in flexible environments, including community or home-based settings.

Knowledge

● Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and responsibilities.

● Understanding of statutory guidance relating to children in care and SEND.

● Understanding of behaviour management and trauma-informed practice.

● Awareness of professional boundaries, confidentiality, and data protection requirements.

● Understanding of curriculum adaptation and personalised learning approaches.

Desirable Experience

● Experience of working in Alternative Provision

● Experience of working in an outdoor learning environment

Hours of Work

We are looking to recruit part time and full time positions

The opportunity for working hours is term time only (39 weeks of the year).

The working hours available are Monday - Friday 8:30am - 16:00pm

Sessions run from 09:00 - 12:00 and 12:30 - 15:30.

checks and DBS checks. All applicants should be aware that they must undergo child protection

screening appropriate for each job role. It’s an offence for any organisation to offer employment that

certain specified offences, or those who are included on lists considered unsuitable for such work held by

the Department of Education. It is also an offence for people convicted of such offences to apply for work

with young people. If you are successful throughout your application, you will be subject to satisfactory

completion of an Enhanced Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service before the appointment is

confirmed.

Hourly pay from £18 per hour based on experience

Pay: £18.00 per hour
