Full job description

Job purpose:

1. To contribute to the provision of a secure, stable, supportive environment for young people which respects and promotes their health, culture, religion, race, identity and lifestyle.

2. To safeguard and promote the welfare of all children and young people.

3. To provide personal care and support to the children and young people.

4. To follow policies and procedures and ensure a safe, secure and healthy environment at all times.

Duties and responsibilities:

1. To work as a keyworker to children and young people ensuring all keyworker responsibilities are completed.

2. To carry out personal care as required whilst maintaining privacy and dignity.

3. To participate in domestic duties as can be reasonably expected.

4. To maintain daily routines within the home which provides a framework for development of a positive culture of care.

5. Establishing and maintaining positive, caring relationships with children, young people, their families and other professionals.

6. Provide a safe, stable and supportive environment that caters for the cultural, physical and emotional needs of the children and young people.

7. Provide advice and support to children and young people regarding their social, physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

8. Encouraging and assisting children and young people to be as independent as possible in all areas of their lives.

9. Plan and participate in various internal and external social and leisure activities.

10. Participate in writing care plans, guidelines and reports for the children and young people as requested by the Registered Manager.

11. To attend external meetings as requested by the Registered Manager.

12. Act as a positive role model for children, young people and other staff in the home.

13. To participate in staff meetings.

14. To participate in and make effective use of regular supervision from your supervisor/manager.

15. Protect the rights and promote the interests of the children and young people.

16. To take full part in duty rotas including weekends, sleep-ins and waking nights.

17. Draw the attention of the manager/senior on duty to any areas of concern.

18. To complete all on-line and mandatory training.

19. To mentor new members of staff as part of their induction.

*This job description acts as a guide to the functions of the job holder and is subject to relevant review and appropriate modification.

*Progression to Grade 2 will be subject to satisfactory evidence that the staff member has completed all the points within the Grade 1 support worker job description and has their Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £13.50-£15.00 per hour
