Location: Field Based – Bristol, Midlands & London (Regular Travel Required)

About Us

We are one of the UK's fastest-growing hydroponics businesses, operating a network of specialist retail stores under the Growell and One Stop Grow Shop brands. As we continue to expand, we're looking for an ambitious and hands-on Retail Area Manager to drive operational excellence across our store network.

This is not a desk-based management role. You'll spend the majority of your time visiting stores, coaching teams, improving standards and ensuring every location delivers an exceptional customer experience.

The Role

You'll take responsibility for the performance and operational standards of eight retail stores across Bristol, the Midlands and London. Working closely with Store Managers and Head Office, you'll ensure every store operates consistently, efficiently and in line with company expectations.

You'll be a visible leader who enjoys developing people, improving processes and driving commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities

Visit stores daily, providing leadership, coaching and operational support.
Develop, mentor and motivate Store Managers and their teams.
Ensure all stores consistently deliver excellent customer service.
Drive sales performance through effective merchandising and product presentation.
Implement visual merchandising standards and seasonal promotional activity.
Carry out regular cycle counts and stock audits to maintain excellent inventory accuracy.
Investigate stock discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Ensure replenishment standards are maintained and stock availability is maximised.
Develop, implement and maintain retail policies, procedures and operational standards.
Identify training needs and deliver coaching to improve product knowledge, sales skills and operational performance.
Recruit, onboard and develop high-performing retail teams.
Monitor store KPIs including sales, margin, stock loss, stock accuracy and customer satisfaction.
Conduct regular store audits and produce action plans to continually improve standards.
Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and company policies.
Work closely with Buying, Marketing and Operations to ensure successful product launches and promotional campaigns.
Support new store openings, refits and store improvement projects.
Build a culture of accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement across all locations.
Ensure stores represent the Growell and One Stop Grow Shop brands to the highest possible standard.
Identify opportunities to improve profitability through better stock management, merchandising and operational efficiencies.
Travel extensively between stores, providing hands-on support where required.

About You

We're looking for someone who has experience managing multiple retail locations and enjoys spending time in stores rather than behind a desk.

You'll ideally have:

Proven experience as an Area Manager, Regional Manager or Multi-Site Retail Manager.
Strong leadership and coaching skills with a passion for developing people.
Experience implementing retail processes and operational standards.
Excellent merchandising and retail presentation knowledge.
Strong stock management and inventory control experience.
Ability to analyse KPIs and turn data into action.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise across multiple locations.
A full UK driving licence.

Desirable

Experience within hydroponics, horticulture, garden centres or specialist retail.
Knowledge of EPOS or retail stock management systems.
Experience managing change and driving operational improvements.
Commercial awareness with a focus on sales growth and profitability.
