Day---Today

I was covering maternity leave, so I knew my time working in the shop was limited, but I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. A typical day at work included stocking the shelves, cleaning the store, serving customers, and taking stock checks to ensure we didn't run out of any items.

In my time there I learned how to communicate well with the public, how to operate a till, to check for ID's of those who looked under age, and to keep records of those who were.

My co-workers were unreliable however, and would often return to the shop late, up to two hours in fact, and resulted in me feeling like I was being taken advantage of. 

The most enjoyable part of the job was very easily working the Friday and Saturday nights, and communicating with my customers, and hearing their stories. I believe that when I was working here, I made many friends of the local everyday customers.

The shift patterns were 6am - 2pm or 2pm - 10pm, which is fine but the problem with that was always that there was so much to do in the morning and never enough staff but so little to do in the afternoon and too much staff. 
The shop itself wasn't very well managed at all. 

Despite being a minimum wage job, I was working 3 days a week typically and was making £700 odds a month which for someone like me who doesn't have a lot of monies outgoing, was really good. 
 You are paid cash in hand which initially worried me but it is all done above board and legally. 

The staff you work wit are in general very friendly and the customer base is mostly locals who you will learn to recognise and they are also very friendly. 

To sum it up, it's not the most incredible job in the world but its pretty decent.

- Sometimes are very busy and the time go on quickly, and I like this moments because are very productive. I like to give an accurate service to the costumers. 
- I learned how to use correctly the till and the PayPoint cash machine, how to supply the items on the shelves and refrigerators checking the expiry dates. 
- I manage money, and I have the responsibilities to maintain a correct amount of money.
- As can often happen, some members of the staff are not so careful. They can be inattentive and sometimes incorrect.

I was doing 6 days a week and between 10-12 hrs a day. the shop was freezing cold the boss is very lazy drinks on the job, batters his worker which forced him to leave, wasn't giving fair wages sometimes he wouldn't give wages out as it was cash in hand. He would take out £50 pounds out the wages without reason, swears at you even if the tasks set are completed. if customers get smart he would shout and swear back at them.

I met many individuals whilst working there. It was challenging as I had to maintain a polite composure regardless of the types of customers I had to serve. Management were excellent at dealing with any issues faced whilst working such as difficult customers. The hardest part of the job was stacking the shelves and the most enjoyable part was that I could have conversations with a wide variety of people.  

Took me time but I achieved a higher rank in the job. By showing my ability to progress and become a manger with my hard work I had put in. Dealing with customers face to face dealing with cash handling. Stock taking.

A shift would be stocking shelves, stock taking, dealing and helping  with customers, hardest part of job would of been carry the heavy boxes from the back of shop, but the most enjoyable part was working with the customers who came into the shop and getting to know the community better.

Day today was a good and fun place to have work experience at, it taught me to be a lot more confident, a also learnt a lot of new skills and even leaned to have a relationship with the general public.

i loved with everyone in the shop a got on with every1 a got a bit more confident.the hardest part was stock rotating and deal with about 3 different delivereys at once i liked eveything even if a could not be bothered a still enjoyed it the manger was awrite.

Owners are approachable and friendly, with a passion for the business. 
Organisation of exciting seasonal events for halloween and christmas are great fun and help to bring the community together.
