Initially when I started, it seemed like a nice place to work, friendly people etc.

However later on people started to micromanage, constantly and obviously look for mistakes, don't communicate and generally make it a hostile place to work.

To be honest it's pretty difficult to do the job when you don't get any guidance, co-workers become aloof and don't communicate as well as extremely hostile.

The staff turnover is quite high, most probably due to the long work hours and lack of overtime.  Any changes to the working time was rigid and poorly rolled out.  In fact it felt like a revolving door recruitment and retainment policy.

Progression only seemed available for the engineering staff, any staff member in a support role e.g. admin looks like they are under a glass ceiling.

Overall it looks like the senior management is out of touch with the working conditions and that the worst people for management positions have been selected for the role.  Getting anything done is pretty much a wrestling match with the bureaucracy where you are constantly having to navigate around people's power bases.

a typical day at work would consist of 2D or 3D designs on a computer for many different projects such as manchester airport terminal 2, weworks building, etc. I have learned lot about how proper management is important within a business as the flow of information has to be spot on to get the desired productivity and co-ordination a big company needs. My workplace culture spreads globally with people from England, Spain and Africa. The hardest part of the job is definitely all of the difficult equations and calculations that have to be carried out in order for the project to carry on. The best part about the job is seeing how the project develops after we finish our business with the company as we develop new builds or refurbishments.

The partners don't seem to care about people, or even respect each other. They have lots of HR policies, but do not demonstrate real genuine care or compassion for their staff.

Staff are overworked, and salaries are not competitive.

It can be a very emotionally draining place to work! Its not unusual for partners or directors to run down each other and other senior staff to junior staff.

Job security is questionable, a number of long serving staff were made redundant as soon as the Furlough scheme finished, despite the company making huge profits.





Nice people and great atmosphere to work in but they have too many jobs and this leads to a constant pressure on delivering. It was like this years ago and now the situation is getting worse, hence why a lot of colleagues left

Duties included covering reception meeting and greeting customers to the building, handling telephone enquiries, arranging organising and preparing catering for working lunches, board meeting and seminars.

I was responsible for filing high volumes of correspondence report drawings and plans maintaining and ordering stationery and catering stock.

Every day everyone got to work at 9am and got all the work done needed by 5pm, this was because the work environment was very friendly and supportive however highly organised. Everyone got along very well and it was a great experience and I learnt lots of skills and gained lots of confidence from everyone that helped me learn and interviewed me.

Working 37.5 hours a week with full support and help from the co-workers. I can say that difficult part is the due date specially in my part as beginner. Drawing, is my passion and dream that's the reason  doing this type of work.

I was with Hoare Lea as a stop-gap via a recruitment agency. Their Birmingham office welcomed me like I was one of their own, treated me fairly and it soon felt like I'd been there for months.

I spent most of my time with the IT team, but the overall positive attitude in the office was very refreshing.

I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Given tasks to do and encouraged to complete them in the best approach and to meet the submission dates.

 Regularly consulted by other Electrical Engineers on approaches to problems that they encountered in their design tasks.
