I worked in Transport/Forecourt for a few months through an agency.They offered me the contract however reduced my driving and fill ups just before I signed,so I transferred to their service department and took that job instead ,as I enjoyed to be out driving.
A typical day would be starting by dropping off a customer locally.You then will use the chase car to either go with other collegues,or alone to a customer to collect their vehicle and bring back to base for work to be completed.You may do around three pick ups in the mornings and help out back at base for moving vehicles into bays and fuel fillups for the techs.The car park can be quite busy so any help is always given.The aim is to get the vehicles in by 11am for the techs to work on them and hopefully you will be able to return them in good time.There were a few times when vehicles would leave later than expected and this would impact on after 6pm finishes.Could be workload or waiting customers taking priority.Help is sometimes on hand and on good behaviour you could be rewarded.The management were always helpful towards feedback and usually took on board the situation and how things maybe improved.I think the hardest part of the job is the boring afternoon time in waiting around not doing much or the extra vehicles put on the board for delivery not necessarily allocated for that day,considering you may have a late workload going back.With everyone pulling in the right direction all can be achieved.
The most enjoyable part of the job.Well driving decent cars(not always).You may even get selected to go on the day course to Oxford Area to do the AMG training allows you to drive higher powered cars
Just to clarify the pay is minimum per hour with overtime paid at the same rate.Your average hours for the month is 195 paid.I never had a problem with that as I enjoyed the work involved

Worked here for 5 years, loved most of the people there, they were all really friendly and helpful apart from the management, they don't have any skill to do their job what so ever, i wish Lookers knew this.

NEVER get praised when you do a job well or if you help out more than your job entails, 
ALWAYS get commented on when you do the smallest thing wrong like return from tea break 10 seconds later because where you have it is about a minute wall away, 
The manager would actually stand there trying to catch you out, thats how sad he was! 

Always had their favorite technicians and saved decent jobs for them so they get their bonus,
Never get bonus your promised and the manager always fiddled the hours so you loose bonus, then when you catch him out he gives the whole 'why would i not want to get you bonus ect' 

Manager fiddles the scrap collection, has his mates come in to sell batteries to for cash and pockets the money, never goes into a kitty like most companies where they share it out at xmas. 

The always want want want from you, no matter the cost on your private life ect, always want you too work though lunch to benefit them, try to get you to do MOTs quicker than you are meant to and try to get you to stay late to do them.
Then when you ask if you can come in to do your car on a weekend or book a day off its a no...

Never let me progress or go on anay training courses like they advertised,

You will NOT get the bonus they offer as they constantly hire people as its cheaper for them to pay another salary than it is to pay bonus to current employees.

I left as i asked for a pay rise as i had been on £10.20 the whole time of 5 years, they said no.
4 of us left as the same time due to management negligence. 

I had complained to Lookers 'HR' department once about said manager but they couldn't be bothered to reply to me.

Shame.

I was not there long, was very disappointing to say the least as my job role kept getting chopped and changed, communication wasn't brilliant, turned up to a training day to be told it was my first day, hadn't even been told or given my working hours!? had someone train me, who didn't drive, and immediately stated he didn't like people who are into cars or modifying cars, and wanted me to ring round and book everyone in 'urgently' for a brake fluid change even if people had just had a full service done on their cars, which is not needed and total nonsense, quite frankly ripping people off, which im not comfortable with. This person who was in charge of one of the BDC units as a supervisor then told me he was going to give me 5 minutes worth of training as it was so busy, then proceeded to have a full meltdown, like hysterical, halfway through my 5 minute training, because a waiting customers email hadn't been answered within the time limit..... i cannot fault the managers, they were lovely and made me feel welcome, i was very disappointed by this, and this one persons behavior who i would be working alongside 24/7 honestly made me never want to go back, on top of the fact my hours and job role had all been changed to sitting in a call centre.....which wasn't the job i applied for or been promised. dissapointed with lookers ford, and they have missed out on having me on their team, ive just been head hunted by some very high end super car companies, so onto new pastures.

Having just left a JLR site i thought i should leave a review. 

Lookers themselves are a great employer. They pay well, all staff get access to some great offers and deals from things like cinema tickets to buying cars. The holiday allowance is also very good.

Unfortunately the site I had also had some negatives. I put these more down to the brand I was working for. Jaguar, Land Rover. 

JLR are having a quite testing few years and as a result, profits are down. For me personally we were doing alot of warranty work which there is little profit in and ultimately profit is very important. 

As a result of actually turning over more money year on year but making a reduced % of profit, mainly down to the level of warranty work being undertaken due to poor build quality, I was not allowed to employ which was desperately needed and left me in a tough position. 

I ended up working from the very early hours (4am starting work which was an hour from home) and finishing around 5:30-6pm before driving home for a period which left me absolutely knackered but also put strain on my home life and health. 

This ultimately led to me leaving and seeking alternative employment. 

There was a general lack of support and I would hazard a guess that the above was not even relayed to senior management at any point.

As I said above Lookers are a good employer, but maybe think twice about joining a JLR brand.

i would arrive at work around 8.00 am to ensure that I had everything in order for the day at 8.30 am we would have a sales meeting followed by going out on to the car sales pitch to make sure everything was ready for the days customers.This was followed, primarily by serving customers who arrived on site, organising our vehicles for the customers to collect after purchasing, organise any finance paperwork, find and orser new vehicles from the franchise website, adhere to the tasks that were in our computer diary each day then finally clear each days diary before leaving each day, it was imperative in Lookers to ensure that your administration paperwork was organised at all times as so many other departments or customers would ultimately rely on it being so.

My co-workeers were a great bunch of guys who took work seriously but not themselves so there was always an upbeat atmosphere in the workplace.

The hardest part of this job and many other car showrooms was trying to ensure that the new cars arrived froom the factory in time to not only uphold the promised delivery date to the customers who purchased them but to also ensure that the sales targets were met within the showroom.

Without a shadow of doubt the most enjoyable part of the job was shared between two things, the great delight in presenting the customers with their new vehicles and the co-workers who i worked with.

I joined in the hopes of a brilliant new career, unfortunately it doesn't matter how hard you work because there is no Parts manager on site on a regular basis, everyone reports to a supervisor who is quite useless and takes little seriously, issues raised do not get followed through with, just brushed aside, colleagues are constantly on your back giving you grief, the pay is poor for the role, the jobs given to you keep amounting & you get little/no support, sales advisors act like they are management, people leave rubbish in the warehouse and expect you to clean up their mess, staff don't push for sales and hardly meet target, many of the procedure's they use are outdated or backwards from a logistical point of view, had to walk out in the end after being spoken to like rubbish on a daily basis, staff all point fingers before investigating and other departments purposely oppose your department rather than work together, staff also treat the dealership with disrespect due to it being owned by lookers and not the brand on the front door, you are also jumped on at the slightest mistake even if you don't do the same when other make mistakes, asked the parts manager many times to sort out certain issues and it never gets dealt with.

Where to start? Lookers has been a herendous journey right from the start of employment. No support no training expected to deliver sales to the same level as sales exec that been doing the job for a decade. Mangament at Shrewsbury Mercedesbenz are a joke. Bias and preferential treatment of certain Sales exec is rampant. Don't bother doing the job well it's not appreciated. If you speak out or challenge the joke of management your straight out the door. Do not bother giving this organisation any of your dedication don't be drawn in by the appeal of a prestige brand like I was. The people running the dealership lack hygiene and personal common decency. Laughing at a staff member being driven away in an ambulance says all you need to know about the people running this dealership. Can't even get dates right on their own formal letters informing me of a pending review meeting. A joke an absolute joke of a place that don't deserve good intentioned hard working people. Don't apply best advice I can give anyone considering working for Lookers.

Generally a nice place to work, Management Is friendly enough but expect the world for really poor pay, the comments from the company in other post state that they review pay regularly, I have worked for this company for 15 years and never had a pay review, I have only received a pay raise when everyone does dispute the employment had book saying they offer them once a year. The company is one of them company’s that see you as number and your replaceable, I have also approached my manager about moving into a more challenging role, however all you ever receive is ‘not yet maybe next time the job is available’ they only think of the right and not about training the team. Holiday is no more than any other company or industry, the bonus has been dropped from £300 a month down to £50 a month and we are told to work over time to make up the money, and that for another year the team still isn’t getting a pay review 
Things look up with out new service manager but I feel most of the problems are out of his control 

I worked here for 2 years in the BDC. My work colleagues were amazing, best I’ve ever met and the team leaders also were great. However the management above these roles and the directors dont have a clue what they are doing, constantly changing processes to accommodate lazy business managers and sales execs in the branches. At one point we were handling 230+ calls a day which destroyed mental health and they also cut our commission during this period which done wonders for the morale as you can imagine. The TLs did the best with what they could and always fought for us but not much you can do when the people in charge dont have a clue and couldn't care less about their workers. All went downhill when the guy from Canada bought over the company. On a positive note the money was alright for what it was and you got the so called “benefit” of a “company car” which was just a fleet car with a discount that you still had to pay for. But yeah wouldnt work for them again. Told everyone their job was secure then next day announced a redundancy.
