Very busy - the day to day payroll processing is very manual and a lot of time is spent checking, then double checking the work before and after sending it to the payroll provider for data entry. Currently learning the RTI rules which have been changed by HMRC on several occasions right up to the start of the new tax year. I get on well with my co-workers. The hardest past of the job is having to work late nights most of the time. The most enjoyable part is the job itself. It is hard and challenging and very busy. This has allowed me to work well under pressure, stick to tight deadlines and deal with employee queries in a timely manner. The help of the management always guides us in the right direction and always keeping us informed of forth coming changes - internally and externally.

Working with Market risk Managers to monitor and sign off Daily Risk Measure (VaR) for various business lines and legal entities
• Analyses and monitoring of various risk sensitivities and factors across the risk profile of the firm
Generation of Daily Risk Reports giving risk factors sensitivity and monitor limit, performing Adhoc analyses of exceptions
Providing key inputs in improving accuracy and automation of processes
Requirement Gathering and Signoffs for new projects within Risk Management
Working with Financial reporting team for reporting Capital to Regulators
Maintaining good relationship with Technology, Financial reporting, Audit teams for various adhoc issues.

Had a fantastic experience where I was thrown in the deep end with various tasks, including holiday cover of the Office Manager.
I have been challenged yet supported at all times, granted responsibilities to manage my own large scale Roadshow and travel across Europe.
I have made a lot of friends and have maintained relationships.
Great communication and interaction between departments and a general feeling of unity.
Though the role was challenging and very fast paced, I managed to deliver and shine.

Good opportunities to thrive in certain areas, using latest technologies and industry thinking, but there is a lack of coherent strategy in talent management and retainment. There are box-ticking nods to diversity but the reality is quite old-school and stifling at times. 
Generally a mutually supportive environment, but internal politics and decision paralysis affects productivity. The decision to cut travel budgets since Covid has drastically hindered efficiency, affecting morale across the firm. At a macro level,  cultural and divisional misunderstandings and misdirections are slowly eroding trust between parts of the firm. 

What is the best part of working at the company?
The canteen on the 6th floor and the wide selection of food on offer. All the events that took place.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The security management team always looking for ways to catch you out. Target and discriminate against staff

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It can be very toxic and competitive amongst staff

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Friendly rapport with traders, drivers and catering staff. Occasional banter with a colleague. However you always feel watched and can never relax

There have been a number of changes that have not been as successful as anticipated, but the management team do not intend to alter their position.
Be aware that your salary is dependent upon the business area you work for, so others can be earning as much as you, even if they are at a lower corporate title to the; or have no corporate title.
Plans managers have are rarely presented to staff, and management is built around friendships. Cliques have become more apparent, and you will know if you are not in a clique.

The responsibilities and exposure to technology open to those in technical or business  analysis roles

Not stressful, but the need to stay abreast of technology and business processes

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It is very friendly, but demanding.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
It is flexible but I had to work with teams in India, UK, Asia and USA, so a lot of late and sometimes early starts

Good company with great benefits onsite and flexibility with work offered however this all depends what your team culture is like and your relationship with your manager. 
Lots of cuts happening so act cautiously.

Delivering projects and supporting the infrastructure

As a large company there was limited  access to resources due departmental rules.

I found in my experience people were approachable and friendly

I performed different roles in Nomura so every day was different.

Nomura is a people company they takes great pride in making sure that staff welfare takes priority ensuing that employees get the right level of work life balance. They are always striving to improve the services they provide to their staff and to their clients.
Every day brought new challenges which makes the job interesting.
A great team of people to work with and a management team  who although did different jobs were always supportive of each other.
