PMP Recruitment

PMP Recruitment are employed by Amazon to provide workers to meet demand. These workers are provided by PMP Recruitment by any means necessary and they misrepresent contractual hours and shift patterns to get on you onboard.

During the application process PMP Recruiters will advertise various shift patterns that garner enough interest from you to accept the position but upon final review, PMP will place you on whatever shift pattern that suits them, irrespective of finish times - for those relying on public transport good luck getting home! This often means lots of confused new starters finding out their agreed shift patterns do not exist and many are left sitting for hours after their shift has finished waiting in the canteen.

During the application process you must sign lots of forms and agree to certain terms and conditions. You are also obligated as part of your contract to remain on standby either on your off days, or your scheduled work days (specifically if they have cancelled you) They usually cancel your shift a couple of hours before your shift commences but you must wait by your phone incase they text you to attend the site. Be aware, you do not get a courtesy text to say you needn’t remain on Standby, so forget about sleeping.. 

Whilst this is perfectly acceptable infrequently, it is however how they manage their shifts on a daily basis. It is both inconsistent and inconvenient. This vastly impacts your work life balance. The balance being, you are always working or waiting to work. 

On your first day you are given an induction which includes a walk around the warehouse, being shown safety procedures and an introduction into the equipment. This is completed whilst wearing masks and keeping two metres behind the person who is speaking.. Which is very effective social distancing but a catastrophic failure in successful communication. You cannot hear safety instructions, you cannot hear protocols, you cannot even lip read - made worse by the VERY LOUD dance music blaring in the background, which by all accounts is a health and safety breach in an environment where machinery is being used. It is dangerous and unlawful.

You are asked to download an app on your first day and are informed you will receive logins so you can see your rota/hours worked. Be aware this is not provided to you and the staff on site cannot assist you. There is a PMP recruitment office on site but 9/10 it is empty. 

There is a locker room but they fail to provide access codes for the lockers. You must leave your personal belongings out in the open, if your pockets are big enough, this should not be too much of a problem. I advise that you not to take anything of value on site. 

The social distancing rule is fantastic inside the warehouse but is NOT adhered to in the canteen despite perspex booths provided. People stand talking, with their masks off whilst using the free tea and coffee facilities which means there is potential for germ contamination from saliva droplets on the drinks dispense. 

The only training you receive is being paired up with an existing disgruntled employee who shows you what to do, by frantically doing the job as quickly as possible whilst offering mutterings of instructions and contempt for the job. Rest assured the tasks are easy, so don’t worry if you don’t catch on quickly, you pick it up in no time.

I have read many reviews, yes the work is VERY tiresome, yes PMP misrepresent the job entirely and yes some managers/supervisors are abrupt - but that is more about language barriers than ill manners. English is a second or third language to most employees at Amazon so give them the benefit of the doubt. 

I was based at Droitwich, I left after a few weeks. Simply because I was enrolled under false pretences and the agreed shifts failed to materialise and being on standby all the time negatively impacted my life.

At the end of the day, this is a job with zero requirements and an immediate start - go in prepared to use your own initiative and have zero expectations. Keep a log of your own hours and depend upon yourself, do not ring or email PMP RECRUITMENT - only communicate with their representative on site face to face for best results. 






After working with this agency for 2 months at Asos Barnsley, I can say that it is one of the worst agencies to work for. Here is a short summary:

When I read the negative comments before entering this agency, I thought it was all a lie or at least I did not believe everything, so I decided to try my luck.

From the beginning they were all problems my schedule was from 7am to 3pm from Tuesday to Saturday with Sunday and Monday rest.

Nothing else to start forced me to work the day of my break arguing that I was in training and that I can lose my job, by the way my level of spoken English is not very good but I tried to explain that on Sunday I could not work, since I had I pick up my family in Manchester early in the morning, and please change me to Monday or afternoon, which was also my day of rest, this request to 2 pmp staff girls, which do not I import nothing and they even incised that they had nothing to do with it.

I agreed anyway, I thought it was an isolated case the way these people act.

In the following days I witnessed on 2 occasions in the morning people demonstrating against Asos, I was wondering why? The days will answer this question.

After 2 weeks of work, I receive my Payslip, which I received in my account 15 minutes of work, I immediately contacted these people, through their link and in the office, all this lasted up to 3 weeks, insisting and every break and Departure time go to the office.

Due to very serious personal problems, I had to leave the workplace on December 29th since I had to return after the corresponding rest days, from one day to the next, to which I contacted to communicate and after that I received the notice for poor attendance etc.

The truth I do not care, my surprise when I request my vacation days, I receive an answer that between 2 or 4 weeks will pay me, and I receive my P45 in which according to them work until the 28th day I mean 1 day less!

 Today, January 24, 2019, I receive my payroll from my Holidays, in which they discount me 29.67 pounds for a uniform.

The one that consisted only of a T-shirt and a long-sleeved T-shirt, because the rest is provided by me (safety shoes and trouser)

 As far as working at ASOS is already another story and I think I'm not the only one who has had a bad experience with this Agency and company.

The most incredible thing that despite these warnings, many people go to work

I work for PMP based at ASOS Barnsley.  Its been the worst three months of my life and has had a terrible affect on my mental health.  I am due a attendance bonus on the 11th January but no matter how many times I contact them to confirm this payment they wont give me the details I have asked for.  I have now noticed all the holiday pay I accrued has gone,  I have again contacted them but as with all PMP e-mail responses the reply very rarely address the issue raised, so now I am worried about losing both my Bonus and my Holiday pay..  

Knowing the problems others have faced with missing wages and holiday pay I know I have a fight ahead of me to just get the money I have earned and is legally mine..  

The work at ASOS is ok but the treatment of staff is the worst I have ever experienced.  The targets are so high few people can reach them without finding ways to cheat the system. You are not allowed an opinion and if you try to address any problems with team leaders  they are patronising, condescending and at times nasty.   There is no point in trying  to defend yourself against a Manager even in  a professional manner it can just lead to being sacked or at least face a disciplinary. The workers at ASOS are human but its sometimes hard to believe it - you really have to leave your dignity and self respect at the door and accept for the next 8 hours you are worthless and only managers and their opinions matter.  All the workers at ASOS have a wide variety of experience, knowledge and have a lot to give to the work place but it doesn't matter they don't listen or value you.  The peak time for employment at ASOS has just finished so all PMP staff are just waiting to hear if they still have a job but it looks likely at least 80% will be left go over the next month and those keeping there job be offered very few hours.  

If you want to work for PMP at ASOS please think very carefully and think whether you are ready to be treated this badly and whether you want to face getting text messages cancelling shifts or having your time and money waste because when you turn to work you get sent home.  Hours are not guaranteed I know people who have had as little as 5 hours work per week.

I was contracted for PMP to work at the Amazon warehouse in Swansea on Night shifts - 18.30 to 05:00 or 06:00 during xmas peak only. I worked as a picker. In a nutshell the job consisted of me going around Amazon's vast warehouse with a cart and handheld scanner to search, select and process customer orders. 

The work was physically demanding as you would have to walk up to 11 miles a day carrying a cart to place customers order you picked, which you would then have to drop off to the pick desk area once it was full to capacity (there was an element of judgement involved). As a picker every second of the shift counts - you are always given something new to go and find. However if you were on target, you could choose to spend some idle time chatting with fellow "colleagues" or taking a break at your discretion. 

Being a picker you don't really feel part of a team as you are left to your own devices to fulfil individual targets, so you don't have to really engage with any co-workers as it is your scanner which tells you were to go and what to look for. All you were required to do was to fulfil your job duties, stay on targets i.e. pick "x" amount a week on average, and you would have no problem from management about job performance. 

Job security is minimal and there is no specific, guaranteed path to secure a permanent contract if you so wish no matter how well you did/do perform. Hence you are always on tenterhooks about potentially being released at the end of the typical 9 month contract offered. This was especially so for people who worked during xmas period as after the boom you could be let go no matter what if there was lack of demand for your services. The workforce was made of mostly unskilled, uneducated local workers, or mostly young Eastern European workers with limited English and thus little prospect of finding any other work. 

All you need to succeed in this job is a strong work ethic, and a basic understanding and capacity to follow simple instructions and willingness to perform simple, but tedious and tiring repetitive tasks.

The agency contracted me to work at Amazon Warehouse Swansea Night shift. Work is easy to do. Hours can be very long vis-à-vis other employers especially during Christmas peak. Job security always depends on meeting targets, following instructions/orders, and adhering to strict rules and procedures. After the xmas peak is over business dies down significantly and the workforce starts shrinking significantly as well week by week. You are always on tenterhooks as to if and when you are going to be next. This puts you under stress and pressure to perform hoping that it will be enough to survive another week. Not many people from Swansea, a lot of the locals tend to come from the periphery of Swansea i.e. Neath, Port Talbot, Llanelli. Which tend to have high unemployment. There was a robust community of Africans, Polish and Romanians working there. Therefore it seems like they mainly attract those who would otherwise struggle to find alternative means of employment, this made you feel that you were part of an exploitative system which relied on people desperate for any kind of job to function. Overall a poor work environment where you are treated with suspicion, lack of care and worked to the bone with very little time to rest. And short breaks 50% of which are unpaid. I would only recommend this job for anyone just looking for a bit of money coming in. The work is mostly conducted in solitude as you are micro-managed by your handheld scanner. Talking with "colleagues" or a more adept description is "other workers" is optional and not really significant to do your job. So you can feel deprived of human contact, which means that some people start whistling to themselves or engage in conversation with people to tolerate being so long doing a job so robotic and meaningless.

I can only share my experience. I was hired for tuesday to saturday shift 6am-2pm. Get one week induction. Brilliant. Next week when you are due for your shifts and hours, shifts gets cancelled on a  regular basis. No regular work / hours given. No guarantees if you will be working on a regular basis. Despite this, PMP still continues to hire new people in the same place where they dont have any shifts for previously trained people, call them to induction, go through the training process. Once induction is over, next week you expect to work your days and hours. Unfortunately for a lot of people this is not the case. I dont understand the wisdom of this. PMP - Why recruit people, train them and then not give them any regular work. I guess it just keeps them in business by doing this. For many people this is a waste of time. I sense lack of integrity, dignity and honesty in this agency which is run by eastern europian people who struggle to speak english.

I was told in induction by PMP coordinator that I will only be doing my shift tuesday-saturday 6am-2pm and I am still waiting to complete my 5 days which has not happened ever since I started working for PMP. This gave me the impression that I will have a full time regular work, but sadly this is only in papers and not in reality.

Pay wise, I did not have any issues. Get paid weekly. But then you need regular work to get regular pay.

So, If you want a fixed term long period employment, then avoid this agency. Go somewhere else and look to work for and with people who are serious about employment and not just running their business or agency for fun. This is unacceptable.

One day spent in a room with about a dozen other people. Made to watch slides of things that’s all pretty much common sense. Shadowed on-road by another driver for one or two days and that’s it, you’re left on your own trying to figure out the ‘Rabbit’ (their scanner). Given different routes, you don’t get a set route so each new route is added stress. Route package amounts are definitely taylored, a lot of favouritism, easier low routes assigned to who they chose. 
If you deliver to, for example, 4 houses that are close to each other, they class that as ONE delivery?!! Even when you have to telephone call the customer if they’re not in and they haven’t left delivery instructions,  plus attempt neighbours too? Baring in mind you need to aim for a minimum of 150 per day so you’re forced to cut corners.  Send you a text reminding you that you have work the following day then send you another text cancelling your shift stating that there’s not enough work yet they interview people several times a week and are always advertising? Their high staff turnover is truly shocking. Increased the wage ( which is still low for what you’re expected to do) by just 20p per hour and that’s only for the Peak Period, drops by 20p per hour again after Christmas which is when I will certainly be looking for alternative employment.  Surely Amazon must have seen the reviews on here? Look on TrustPilot, they’re even worse and I never would have joined this agency had I done my homework first and looked them up.

This agency is no good. They take you on saying they have full time hours, but in the months I've been here I've not had one week of full time work. Most of the time we are sent home straight after lunch break. But they still take on more staff. 
Some of the managers in the warehouse struggle with basic English. Each have their own way of doing the work, some managers will complain about the way you do things, after being shown by others to do it that way. 
15 minute un paid break, not even time for your coffee to cool. 
30 minutes un paid for lunch. 
You are trained by other workers that don't have the time to stop and show you. Some have only been in the job for weeks. 
They take on so many people who are clearly no good for the job. 
Manager stands over you shouting that you must work faster, then stands around laughing and speaking in Polish with his mates.  Sometimes he will angrily empty a few cages to show you how quickly it's to be done, try doing it that fast for hours non stop!  Doing it his way only wore me out a lot sooner, and got us sent home alot earlier. 
Some managers will run everything and everyone flat out, so they can brag to the other team managers how quickly they got the work done, and how early they could get the agency staff sent home. 
You'll be lucky to get a pair of gloves. Don't lose the knife or it comes out your wages. 
Much of the health and safety I've been taught over the years goes out the window here. 
Asda would be shocked at the way XPO run this place.

I worked for PMP at Nestle in Halifax because the shifts was convenient to work around my family life. Coming from a town with high unemployment I had done zero hour contract with other agencies before and thought I new what to expect...nothing however could prepare me for how bad PMP was though. For starters they wanted me to pay for a Health & Safety Certificate to work on site which was something like £80/90 pound, shifts was constantly being cancelled and I was lucky to get 2 shifts a week due machine stoppages and PMP being overstaffed and despite PMP knowingly being overstaffed they still recruited large amounts of new members of staff on a weekly basis (all of who would soon leave due to not getting work). A few months later after seeing that things wasn't getting any better I decided to hand my notice in as I was struggling to pay the bills on 1-2 days a week (sometimes I didn't even get that). The recruitment agent managed to talk me into staying by offering me a Saturday to help increase my shifts which I agreed to because IIT was 12 hours and I thought it would be more reliable. I drove down to work on a Saturday morning only to be sent home as my shift had been cancelled. The same thing happened the following Saturday and the Saturday after that. Needless to say I handed in my notice on Monday morning and would never work for them again.  I registered with another recruitment agency a few week later and am much happier working for them than I was working for PMP.
