Typical day at work included serving and advicing customers which I fully enjoyed. showing customers new fragrances and let them test as many fragrances as requested.

I learned how to be in charge of a team, staying organised keeping on top of daily targets. I also gained experience in a lot of different areas, receiving deliveries, replenishing stock, operating tills, cashing up, paper work, stock take, archiving, banking, staff break sheets, customer advice, sell ups and ADD on products. I had excellent product knowledge. Planning and often in charge of promotion and display change, cleaning duties, gift wrapping and various training of new staff members.

Management was excellent, always kept me motivated to aim for the best. I had set days off which abled me to plan and keep on top of things outside of work.

The team was excellent, a very friendly work environment as it was always very well managed. and we all equally worked very hard.

the hardest part of the job was selling incentives, as it was very difficult to push a sale to a customer who is after a certain product. and as customer service was so important in our store we never made the customer purchase a product which they were unsatisfied with.
Also during the Christmas period the shop was always very busy, and being incharge of stock I had to stay fully focussed and organised. If products sold out I also had to make sure no signs or wrong prices were displayed on the shelves. Which was at times difficult as many products were sold in a short period of time, however I always managed well.

ofcourse the most enjoyable part was to serve many customers and satisfying each one of them with their purchase. advicing them and letting them try many products such as; Perfume, Body lotion and many more. After you found a product which was suitable for the customer, price and scent wise you would offer to gift wrap and making it look presentable and offer them excellent customer service.
also a enjoyable part of the job was if you suceeded your targets you had a chance to win incentives.
I also fully enjoyed learning about new products and continuing to learn about the excisting products.

A typical day at work consists of entering the premises being searched and searching other members of staffs bags and pockets, then signing in with any perfume and money. Before opening the shop we count the floats and the banking and double check to make sure all the paperwork from the day before is correct. Once we have signed all the paperwork and put the tills in we open the shop, in between serving customers we are responsible for pricing, cleaning, and completing random stock checks in store for future reference. During my time here I have learned how to cash up, how to do stock checks, and have further developed my customer service skills. As I have been in my store the longest out of my team of sales assistants I am recognised as the strongest member of the sales assistant staff and have developed friendships as well as professional relationships with my managers. My co-workers when i first began in the company were lovely they were the original store members when it first opened and taught me a lot about communicating with customers and to treat our regulars. In my branch we are very close to one another and work is a fun and enjoyable place to be, however sometimes when we have a quiet day the day can drag if your tasks have been completed. The hardest part of the job is when we struggle to make target on quiet days, however we use our initiative and will go in to the shopping centre promoting offers and enticing customers with free gifts. The most enjoyable part of the job is working with a strong team and sometimes winning prizes if our store wins an incentive.

As part of my role within ‘The Perfume Shop’ warehouse, I was given the responsibility to create complex spreadsheets on Microsoft Excel using a formula system which would automatically calculate all statistics needed for Management to assess and respond to staff performance. I also checked stock levels daily to ensure that there were no discrepancies in the warehouse or during deliveries to the stores. I carried out KPI reviews, I had to analyse the data for the whole month and point out whose pick rates were the highest, who had the worst pick rate and also whose error rates increased.

Though not directly line-managing staff, during my time at the warehouse I took on the responsibility of discussing poor performance with the stock pickers. By doing this I was able to get a better understanding of which members were working well and who I could trust with important tasks and who I could not. This helped the Managers, as I was able to take away some of their responsibility, so they were able to concentrate on other important matters.

I believe I performed exceptionally well as an Administration Assistant at ‘The Perfume Shop’ warehouse and this has been proven by the fact that my contract was extended on more than one occasion. I would appreciate the opportunity to once again work for a company where I have learnt a lot and gained valuable skills. If I am given the chance, I would like nothing more than to develop my career with ‘The Perfume Shop’ so that I can help the company develop its already glowing reputation.

I worked here as a Christmas temp a few years ago now. I came in at short notice to cover and stayed after my shift was over to work extra hours as it was busy. I worked really hard during my time there, I was flexible, stayed extra hours and even came in early when I was asked. I covered at another store to help out as well as they were short staffed basically whatever I was asked to do I did. I must add to this review that I was twenty seven when I was working for the Perfume shop, I had eight years retail experience at the time and had also had management experience I got the impression they didn't like how experienced I was. They didn't keep me on after my time working there, they said there were no jobs available.  A week later I went in the branch to find they had taken on the seventeen year old Christmas temp who started the same time as I did. So basically the point is don't apply if you are an older person cause they will take on someone younger they can pay less money to. Management are intimidated by your success in previous roles so if you have previously been successful in other jobs it might be better to keep that to yourself. Hard work, working extra hours at short notice and covering other branches is not appreciated. Probably a great place to work if you are under eighteen and want  to earn some extra money over Christmas but not good if you are an older person who is looking for career progression or a job that is permanent. 

A typical day at work would include; putting out the delivery of stock first thing in the morning, make sure the shop looked presentable, serving all customers some who needed help choosing a fragrance, it was important to give 100% customer service as perfume is a personal necessity, regular check ups on the tidiness of the shop, wrapping gift sets/perfume if necessary and being available to any customers coming into the shop. 

I learned the importance of giving customer service; I was till trained, learned how to take card and cash transactions, found out what some notes in fragrances were and generally matured from giving professional assistance. 

The management were very supportive and trained me individually with a lot of effort which I appreciated.

My co-workers were really friendly and welcomed me instantly, supported me through-out my time working there and I learned a lot from them.

The hardest part of the job for me was the fact that there was so much to take in as it was the busiest period of the year, the Christmas period. However after the first 3 days I believe I was on track with everything and provided excellent service. 

The most enjoyable part of the job for me was seeing a satisfied customer walk out of the shop I had spent time with finding what they were looking for.

Working as part of the senior management team in a brand new concept store, there were many stresses and on-going developments during the course of opening period. Managing a completely new team and undertaking the pressure of meeting high deadlines and figures ensured that I was testing and pushed. I excelled under this challenge and as a store we not only rose to such demands but exceeded what was asked. I have gained vital leadership and project management skills. Working in conjunction and communicating with all sectors in the business I have learnt key trading information and awareness of competitor analysis. I can effectively deal with queries and discrepancies within the workplace. I have sound understanding of crucial retail business factors such as KPI's and trading performance and statistics. I can monitor all aspects within a working retail back office and adhere to my daily and weekly meetings. I have learnt how to motivate and uplift a team, proving to increasing productivity and overall results. 
I loved to be part of a team and the motivation the brand supplied made everyone work harder. Incentives worked brilliantly and ensured results were delivered. I love the pressure of the environment and the management skills i have developed can be easily transferable to future endeavors.

Typical day at work includes getting there standard time 10 minutes before your shift. Sign in, bag search and open up with the manager or deputy/supervisor. 
Typical day at work will include housekeeping and customer service. It's a great way to start out in retail as its mostly one on one and seeking customer needs. Product knowledge in the brand is trained as you go - very essential. 
If youre keen in luxury products and fragrance it's a great way to start out in the sector but not brilliant for 5+ years. 

I learned many things about fragrance, brands, perfume history, ingredients, the company background etc. You learn a lot from roadshows and meetings when management bring facts and new ideas back.
I learned the way retail works as it was my first job. Learn to work in a small team and a fast paced environment through some of the busiest periods of the year such as mothers day, valentines and Christmas.

Management not very great if youre keen to move up, improve and gain lots of new experiences to add to your CV - Only thing wanted for is last minute cover here there and everywhere. 

My co workers were perfectly fine. Working in the environment that fragrance gives does mean a very female workplace so a few nags here and there - its bound to happen. During busy periods everyone does work together though which is great.

A typical day at work started with completing the paperwork and setting targets, making sure all the floats are correct and the store is ready for the day. During the day I needed to make sure that all team members are aware of current and upcoming promotions, activities and targets and they deliver high standards of customer service. Replenishing the stock at least twice a day and providing customer service in store also completing the 'click and collect' orders. Completing price changes, promotion changes. Answering emails and phone calls, problem solving.  I learnt that how to be efficient and polite at all times, how to deal with refunds, exchanges and customer complaints and how to maximise sales profit. 
The hardest part of the job was handling inconsistent, unprofessional and bullying managers. I found it very hard to deal with passive-aggressive, over-controlling managers who did not deliver, rarely achieved targets and did not lead by example. These people are doing the same job for a long time and they forgot how to motivate, praise or give constructive feedback. 
The co-workers were lovely, most of them worked really hard despite the low salary. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was helping customers find the perfect scents for themselves, providing good knowledge and participating in training sessions provided by big fashion houses.

I have been working with the CRM Oracle system within The Perfume Shop Head Office. I deal with customers data within our loyalty system using the company’s reward card campaign. This is done through data modelling and reporting to my line manager on a daily basis.

I work with collecting data by analysing customer buying habits. This is done by collating data and using V-look ups. I work with Microsoft Excel on a daily basis, as we as other supporting systems. I have dealt with.

A very small team of us have recently helped launch our new Siebel system, DaVinci where I have been reporting to my line manager to gather as much customer information as possible from their purchases. From this, we look for campaign opportunities that will meet these customer’s expectations.  

I am aware of SQL functions and commands that are used within our Siebel systems. I am a quick learner and am enthusiastic and motivated when learning new aspects of a role. The Perfume Shop is fast moving company; I have always kept on top of my daily jobs being pro-active and motivated to provide the best outcome for the company.  

Working within a small team and working closely with the marketing team has enhanced my communication skills and also helps with new ideas within the department.

Seriously consider if this is the company for you. Overtime is expected and you’ll feel pressured to work some. Whilst the products are nice, you’ll be bombarded by targets that are largely unachievable and the company don’t really have a clear direction to go in. One week you could be pushing ribbons and the next it could be your basket size and the week after that it could be travel atomisers. It’s very hard to keep up with it all and I feel as if we are turning customers off with endless add-ons just to please the company. Most stores are now expected to fulfil online orders from the warehouse with no extra staff and at Christmas you could be doing 75+ orders a day as well as try and serve customers. 
Senior management are a joke and don’t have a clue what they are doing. It’s a shame as this used to be a brilliant company to work for but unfortunately they seem to have lost their direction and care more about teams calls to berate you on what you’re doing wrong and not really praise what you’re doing right. 
They also expect lengthy reports weekly to explain why you didn’t hit targets and you’re shot down if you blame the cost of living crisis!!! 
I would advise to look for another company to work for as this one is fading fast!
