Be prepared to sacrifice your family life just to make the management team happy!
Worked as a winter maintenance operative for a few years, each year the rates dropped & workload increased! They expect you to work your normal job then work every other hour for them! Yet when you say you're too tired and it can become dangerous they threaten you with ending the contract! They also get you to sign wavers that you ARE getting sleep and aren't working excessive hours, yet they know you are! They tell you if you don't sign the agreements to say you fully accept responsibility that you are NOT working beyond your safe hours you won't get the work! The senior management team from within the depot to head office are key players ensuring you are protecting them whilst you drive tired & dangerously to adhere to schedules. Then they drop the rate AFTER you've done the work! So in truth if you want to sacrifice your family time for a company that works hard to hit deadlines by knowingly putting YOUR safety and public at danger, then this is the place to work! Yes, this is all factual and I would happily stand in court and swear on the bible about how bad the working conditions are with the company. Very dangerous working practises for employees with catastrophic results for workers in the past. If you value your wellbeing then don't work here!
ProsNONE!
ConsLong hours, dangerous working practises, unsafe working conditions, dangerous equipment given to work with

Fun and Welcomin company to work for
My co workers are friendly and fun to work with, I have Learnt a great deal from this role and decided to undergo a commercial management course to help getting into a similar permenant position. Management are really friendly and helpful. My hardest part of the job is leaving. the most enjoyable part of my job is being kept busy and knowing i have the support from everyone around me. Typical Day: In this role I handle large amounts of data on excel spread sheets. Every month I prepare interim and final accounts and assist in the daily commercial and contractual aspects of our 3rd party contracts, which are managed by the operational team where they produce lists of clients. I also prepare financial statements for different projects for my three territories which have been assigned work. I work in a multi-disciplinary and fast paced environment and I am always developing smart ways of working with teams to realise client and operational objectives. I am responsible for gathering and collating records of all work done/completed, assisting with payment authorisation of subcontractors and ensuring prompt submission of invoices including applications for payment. I am also responsible for quantity surveying staff in respect of Timekeeping. I contribute to the formulation of the monthly financial reports for external ‘applications for payment’. I am in touch with suppliers on a daily basis to help maintain the relationship between Amey and suppliers. Every month one of my main res

Great experience for my CV
Excellent opportunity to learn about financial systems, varied workload which I found to be good as every day was different. Did not feel there was much opportunity for progression.

Slave labour
You are either in or out, the management hiarachi system is completely pointless and confidentiality is non existant! 4 years i worked for Amey and was majorly made a joke and mug out of! Minimum wage and working a management post with absolutely no support and training what so ever. Would rather be moneyless for the rest of my life than go and work for this company!
ConsNo suppport, lack of equality

Shambolic
Never in my life have I worked for a worse company. Bullying, victimising, threatening demeanour and untrustworthy management who will just a quickly throw you under the bus as they would pay you onto it. If you have any valuation in your own happiness, do not not work for Amey Street Lighting division in Broxburn.
ProsNot many
ConsNot enough time in the day to list all of them.
