Store management and above are ok anything below is terrible
I started here with high hopes,I needed something to pay the Bills for a few months until starting a new career but it didn’t last that long. The job itself is easy although fast paced and constant as the factory runs 24/7. The upper management seemed good and are trying their best to improve things but it’s not working. Shift leaders and junior managers for the most part are just bitter employees that have been there for years, they know how to make a donut but no idea how to lead people . They will complain about team members work quality while making the same mistakes themselves and are cliquey with senior members of staff, giving them preferential treatment. Production and processing staff get paid more to motivate better quality control but when you promote people to encourage this that can’t even do the job themselves and hire people that don’t care, even that doesn’t improve quality. Everyone is miserable yet the company claim that it’s a fun place to work etc. there is clear favouritism to employees that have been there for a while, for example, using Phones while working, smoke breaks while newer employees are made to work continually apart from the break they get which is only 30mins in a filthy break room, even if you’re doing a 10hour shift. Staff that have been there will get all the good days off. The place is understaffed and they will regularly have to pull people in early or on their days off. And the night shift constantly have to work later as there i

Part-timers, beware!
I have been working at Krispy Kreme for several months now as a Part-time Retail Team Member. I was excited when I got this job, but that quickly faded as all of my hardwork for this company was brushed off and nobody seemed to care - you are just a number. Here's what you're expected to do during a typical day: Opening - set up the shop, start the coffee machine (make sure the coffee drips between 25-28 seconds), make sure the milkshake machine is on (if not, refill it and set it on auto), unload the doughnut trays onto the correct steel trays, ensure everything is clean and presentable. During the day, you're expected to upsell as much as you can. For example: if someone wants 2 doughnuts, you upsell to a pack of 3 or a drinks combo. You have to restock the doughnut trays when necessary, do regular coffee checks, make sure the place is clean and keep a cheery attitude. Closing - count the wastage and put all of the trays back into the trolleys and throw out all of the doughnuts that were not sold that day (including OG/Assorted boxes), clean the metal trays with sanitiser spray, clean the inside and out of the glass cabinet, take out the rubbish, clean the milkshake machine, clean the coffee machine, sweep and mop the floors, and, in general, just ensure the place is spotless and all of the necessary things are cleaned properly. Now, that's fairly standard. However, as you continue to work for the company, a lot of red flags come out at you. These are m

Constantly short staffed, management was a nightmare
Worked at Krispy Kreme part time while studying for almost two years. It began fun and exciting, as it was my first job, but this eventually went downhill. To begin with, I was told by colleagues I would have plenty of time to learn every aspect of the store such as cleaning and making drinks, but when I spoke with my manager, I was told that until I learned all of the hot and cold drinks, I would not be able to move past my probationary period. This was slightly frustrating, as I was working extremely hard, while some of my other colleagues were advancing when they had done a lot less than myself. Once you pass the probationary period, you get a slight pay rise, so it was infuriating to see that others were getting paid more than me to stand around while I was attempting to serve and clean at the same time for less money. Apart from this slight pay rise, there has been no other benefits or rewards to working at the Krispy Kreme. Once, I was told that I could have won a bonus for employee of the month but because another colleague had gotten a bad mystery shopper score that month, I was no longer allowed to be put forward for employee of the month! After around a year or so of working there, a new line manager began managing our store. From this point, the only enjoyable part of working there was to see my colleagues, which I built a good relationship with. There was a higher pressure to deliver good customer service reviews, but with no incentive from management to do so

Worst Company I've Ever Worked For!!!
Was initially promised full time hours (37.5) and at training they really sold it to me so it seemed fun at first, but it didn't take long for things to start unravelling. Hours are all over the place so you either end up overworked or out of pocket. Some weeks the rotas only have 141hrs on them which is ridiculously low! You get left on your own for hours and it's one of the busiest shopping centres! You are treat like cattle. Management don't care. Not in my time have I worked in a more gossip fuelled environment where the boss feeds into it. Everyone is at each others throats 24/7. You are thrown to work at other stores without even being asked. Multiple complaints to the area manager and head office over my time being there and you just get ignored even though illegal procedures were taking place! All they care about is money and they have an excuse for everything. Such high staff turnover and its no surprise why, everyone ends up mentally ill and on sick because of the treatment you get. Never get a day off sick either! You are expected to still work even though it goes against basic food hygiene safety. The company was all about profit and money saving. Also was hypocritical!! The rules changed every week to whatever suited them so nothing was ever fixed or stable, honestly just made the rules up as they went along. Nothing was ever good enough, no praise given at all. Cannot progress either. Don't even waste your time, for what you get paid it's ridiculous and it's als
ProsNothing. Don't waste your time. PLEASE.

Novelty wears off after a while.
Working for Krispy Kreme sounded like a dream job. The company sounded good and the perks were also desirable (above minimum wage salary and a free box of doughnuts each week). Unfortunately the novelty wore off quickly when i was regularly given more than 25 hrs per week. this was for a part-time role. I was even given a 39 hours one week. There is a day and night shift meaning the shift hours were long (around 11 hours). Due to the 'efficient' nature of the business; only one production member per shift was ever used. This meant that production members were put under extreme pressure every shift. Employment law states that a worker must take a 20 minute break after 6 hours of work. This regularly didn't happen due to not being allowed to leave the production area whilst the machine was making doughnuts. This would not be an issue if there was more than 1 production member per shift. I regularly worked between 8-10 hours before being able to take a break. After repeatedly complaining to management about the poor working hours i was told time after time that it was 'just how the business is.' On more than one occasion i have worked 9+ hour shifts without a break. This job puts an awful lot of responsibility on one person. It is not only physically demanding but mentally stressful too. The pay is simply not enough for a job of this nature. For all of the negatives i have enjoyed working with the other staff members. Thankfully my line manager was understandi

Good environment, fun place to work.
A day at work is dependant on what shift you are on, the day is broken down into 3 different types. Morning shift which is generally a 7am until 3pm, this consists of working on your own for the first couples of hours setting the store up for the day, the doughnuts get delivered to the warehouse which is away from the store so you have to bring the trollies over, then set them up in the display. As a team leader I also have access to the safe so ensuring the safe is balanced in a morning and making sure the tills have an accurate float amount of £200 in a morning is also required. On a morning shift as a Team Leader I also have to input the doughnut delivery into the system and pay for our daily delivery, also any other order such as milk, coca-cola, boxes basically everything we use as a store. Then there is mid shifts which is work times from 9am until 6pm or 11am until 8pm, these shifts are mainly for serving purposes, making sure the customers/guests are happy and have everything they need, and making sure their overall experiences are pleasant. Then the final shift is the late shift, which is working hours of 2pm until 10pm, this shift consists of closing the store down, ensuring everything is clean and tidy and washed, so for the person coming in on the opening shift can do so happily not having to do anything that should have been done the night before. On the night shift as a Team Leader you have to cash the tills up and bank any profits, then everything must be input

Treat you so badly
Honestly, I loved working with the staff, I enjoyed talking to the customers and I enjoyed the atmosphere of the shop. I learned so much from them and was promised to progress. However this is where everything fell apart, I worked for the company for over a year and 3 months and in that time, I had 4 managers, the first treated me very nicely, but she said this is no career for me and I should leave as soon as I find another job. The 2nd taught me a lot about the company but said I was incompetent, the 3rd said I could be management material, and started training me to become a manager in the future, but ultimately I did all of the work for him, and the 4th was the reason I left, being she did nothing right. She sold out of date products to customers, something which I challenged, but was ultimately shut down for doing, even against the Area manager, I ended up doing a lot of her work too, and it was disgusting. We as staff were forced to do jobs we weren't trained in, one of which, resulted in 2 of us becoming severely ill. I then decided to hand in my resignation, which a manager from another store and my area manager told me I should reconsider. The staff around me all asked me to stay as well, as they felt I was the better leader compared to my manager, so I reconsidered. But the Area manager just told me that I can't reconsider, when a day before had asked me to. It was horrible for me to go through all of that. But honestly I am glad to be free of the company now

Recruitment process is unfair and misleading - don't apply if you need full time work
The interview process is simple and relaxed. However, vacancies were advertised as full time. You didn't find out you'd only get a 4 hour contract until you were offered the job, but were falsely promised longer hours. I couldn't turn the offer down as I was on Jobseekers Allowance. I ended up in a worse financial position than I was in when I was on benefits. Advertised with a competitive salary. At the time when I applied, this turned out to be 10p over minimum wage. Staff would regularly be sent home or have their shifts cancelled at short notice. Team members (including the team leader) had a bullying, gossiping culture. I struggled with the role at the time because of mental health issues. Instead of offering support, management set me up to fail. This included not raising numerous issues they had with my performance until a week before my probation ended, complaining that I didn't "create a positive working environment" when I was suffering from severe depression and claiming to provide "extra training" (they asked me to come in for an extra hour and a half, less than a week before the end of my probation. This gave me no chance to show any improvement). Not an acceptable attitude in this day and age.
ProsFree doughnuts, fun training sessions before the store opened, most of the Head Office staff seemed nice.
ConsMisleading job adverts, low pay, unpleasant colleagues, rude customers, shocking attitude to mental health from management.

Management make you miserable
A typical day of work began with counting the stock, because we couldn't trust the hub to send us the right stock, if any at all. Then you opened at a far too early time for fast food and were criticised for not selling enough even though Meadowhall was empty. Then you hoped for a decent time break if management had allocated enough staff at the correct time. Then you counted the hours of being watched discreetly by management and played off against other management and each other. Your fellow team members and some team leaders were excellent though, especially needed to deal with the problematic tills that were made worse during my time. On the job you learnt how to make drinks and how to upsell deals and review cards in fear of a telling off by management due to a lack of feedback. If you got negative feedback you were publicly dressed down. Fellow team members and some team leaders were great. Others were so far up the manager they did things backwards because the rules technically said something which in reality would never happen The hardest part of the job was avoiding being shouted at by managers and high ups sent from the hub to spy on you from a distance then play you off your manager rather than help you improve. The most enjoyable part of the job was handing my notice in and leaving. The satisfaction was immense.
ProsSome staff great, unlimited (poor quality) free food

Not bad
A typical day at work would be to open the shift at 8:30am, run the coffee machine, count the safe and put the float in the till. After this, paperwork will be filled in just before placing all drinks on show in the front fridge of the store and put all doughnuts delivered on clean trays. After a few hours of being opened another staff will come in to help. We stay open to 6:30 and sell doughnuts, hot and cold drinks and impulse to customers. At closing we ensure cleanliness in the store and cash up. I have learned how to do administration work, how to work a coffee machine and dealing with cash. The management is not very nice in the store, no staff is motivated by management and all staff in unhappy. I love my co-workers, they are fun and bubbly and i love working in a team. However, we have a small team of 8 people and i would prefer to work in a bigger team with more people. The hardest part of my job is to run the shift, make sure everyone is doing their job, breaks have been taken and ensure all other co-workers are happy aswell as dealing with difficult situations such as complaints. The most enjoyable part of my job is that its always busy and we get to serve lots of customers letting me provide the best customer service that i can give. I also love making coffee specially doing latte art designs such as the heart, the leaf and the rosetta.

Poor Management/no resolution
I loved the employees and I loved working at Krsipy Kreme. I enjoyed getting to know the customers and the overall experience of being apart of the team, but I had such a bad experience with management that it forced me to quit. One day it had gotten extremely busy and we were short staffed and I was placed on the register. A lady came through and ordered her doughnuts and asked for a drink. I called back and asked if someone was making the drink and I got an affirmative from another employee. So I kept ringing up the line as my shift manager instructed. After things had cooled down the lady came back and said she never got her drink and wanted a refund. My shift manager pulled me aside and asked what happened, I started explaining that another employee was making the drink and I was ringing people up, she called it an excuse and said that I should have made the drink myself- which contradicted her own instructions to never leave my register if there are customers- and told me that since I was unable to ensure the customer had gotten their drink it was my fault. The next day I went to management and told them what happened and he told me I was in the right and what my shift manager said was unacceptable and told me the issue would be resolved. the Saturday following the discussion with management I worked an eight hour shift without a break- and I realize that North Carolina Law doesn't require beaks to employees 16 years of age or older, but COMPANY POLICY states that if y

The Job
It's Not A Difficult Job At All. Depending on which krispy kreme your at it will be good or bad. I work Production that includes making donuts, watching them come out, mixing glaze, watching for the trash not to come out (So that it's not to heavy and replacing the bags), Puting shortening (Basically Oil) in the oil tank, lifting heavy things (50 Pounds) for a period of 10 - 15 seconds, possibly washing dishes and learning recipes etc (Not That Hard). I have a manager who said he's seen someone do it all which i think is not possible (Worked for about a month so i have just enough experience to say these things and yes i think of easier ways to do them to cut time because timing is everything A Krispy Kreme.). There are many things i see for improvement at krispy kreme. The store i work with has a big machine and a decent sized line. Between the team members almost everyone works hard but the problem lies with in the system of the company (Thank God I Have Jesus Tbh I Would Probably Sue Them & Quit).. my hand gets swollen and i can't even clench my fist when i wake up. I also have flat feet (with good insoles but it still works). So all the weight from life the dough on the machine has a strain and since i have no breaks (which i am still speaking to the management about.. so basically i drink water and with no food because seeing donuts all day doesn't make you want to eat them though from time to time i eat some because i don't get any breaks which is ridiculous and so does
ProsFree food ? Paid evey week
ConsNo breaks, No one fully listens, differing expectations vs reality, Company systems needs a big change, etc

One of the worst companies I've ever worked for.
Overall terrible company to work for. Manager had me working 50 hour weeks for $9 I had to do a lot of the slack work the manager didnt want to do. Sometimes the manager asked me to pick up extra hours which I didn't mind because I was hurting for money and they knew that and kinda took advantage of that. Literally every other day they'd be asking me to either stay later, or if I could work on my day off. I never once complained about it. I was happy they gave me extra hours but they had me do so much for so little. I worked literally 12 to 14 hours a day some days. Most days I worked 10 hour shifts. I mainly worked around kids that didn't want to do their job so I picked up after their slack. They don't have one person do just one job like most stores would. They had me one day either just do dishes all day, or cashier most of the times. But there would be days where I'm packing donuts in boxes all day or catching donuts for 12 to 14 hours without a break. Sometimes the manager would make me skip my lunch break (which is completely illegal by missouri law by the way) and I never once complained about it, I put up with the bs because I was desperate for work. You would also either be making the donuts if you were trained on it, or filling the donuts with creme. Overall it could have been a fun job if the management wasn't so terrible, and if we weren't forced to do so much for so little. I've worked jobs in the past where I've done way more for $12/hour. The donut makers
Pros10% off discounts, free donuts when ever needed, could pick up extra hours if requested.
ConsAwful management with bad social skills, too much work for too little money, long shifts 10 - 14 hours

A simple and enjoyable job made extremely difficult by poor management
While the job itself was extremely enjoyable, the lack of quality management or consideration for employees was the deciding factor in my opinion of this position. I, as well as my coworkers, would be frequently and regularly left to deal with situations above our position because the store manager would either avoid coming in to handle the situation or would simply ignore the phone calls on the matter entirely. Added to this fact was the constant use of false promises to employees to keep them working for a goal which was ultimately unobtainable. I personally was promised a promotion on six different occasions and passed over every time because it was later decided that my skills as a baker were too important to lose by promoting me, yet was simultaneously denied a raise because the store couldn't afford it due to promoting the other employee despite my frequent ability to fix mistakes nobody else would've been able to. Added to this was the fact that employees were frequently told we were replaceable when we would raise complaints on matters such as not being properly staffed or new employees not being properly trained for the positions they were hired for, requiring us to train them despite being penalized for doing so. Another frequent issue was the outright refusal to fix broken equipment, instead expecting us to essentially patch things together ourselves to the best of our ability to complete our jobs. Added to this was management ignoring problems which could easily b

Very small stores with little space make work frustrating. No advancement up the line
After working at the company for about five weeks my patience has truly been tested time and time again. The particular store where I work at is very small and not indicative of the doughnut factory type of work performed at the location. It is not simply just a regular doughnut shop that produces product for that store alone. We also produce hundreds to thousands of different types of doughnuts a day for retail stores, convenience stores, and other shops. The lack of space really makes things hectic and what space we do have is very limited. I often find myself having to squeeze into a corner or literally bend backwards over the production line so that other people and equipment can get through the narrow passageways of the store. The store office is also in an inconvenient area which is right in front of the production equipment which often means that necessary storage equipment has to be moved out of easy reach which slows down employee rhythm and speed which often results in the line of never ending product to advance further down the line to it's potential waste at the trash bins on the end of the conveyor belt system. It is really a test of patience and tolerance and tasks can often get on your nerves very quickly. Advancement within the company is also very slow. Since i have started I have been in the same area with no promotion to new areas within the store. I have made requests to management that I would like to work the front areas from time to time but my request

Worst job ever
DO NOT WORK HERE. DECATUR,AL SITE Krispy Kreme just opened in our area in January 2016. I started when they first opened. I hired in as a FULL TIME team member. According to handbook a full time employee should average 32 hrs a week. When i first started my first week was a 30 hrs my second was 40 and following a third week of 40 considerably I was making good money when i first started. Eventually as business began to decease so did employees hours. Instead of our manager firing the extra employees on night shift she kept them only giving them 1 day a week with 6-8 hrs. As an employee of any age this is insulting to only receive one day a week. As a full time employee i went down to part time only averaging 20 hours on a good week. Our manager never accredits hard work she only values if you are one of her favorites or not. We had a member of production who you always went out of his way to make sure production was clean, stock, and organized. She made another member of production employee of the month. The employee she made employee of the month didnt even feel like he deserved it and asked the other employee to take the picture with him. She has made people who are bossy and lazy manager instead of people who really care about the store. One manager who used to be a supervisor before he was promoted as a manger shouldn't even work there. He has no idea how to even run production or retail, He literally comes in everyday and tries to experiment with the machines until he m

What questions did they ask during your interview at Krispy Kreme?
Asked 17 Apr 2017
Depending on what branch you have your interview at, it is typically very relaxed and the manager should make you feel at ease. My interview was around 30 minutes long, they got through the formal questions sent from head office. You'll be asked questions about your 3 biggest strengths/weaknesses, expressing ideas, why are you suitable for the job, do you have experience dealing with difficult customers etc. Just answer the questions with honesty and be confident with your body language and speaking. You should also ask them some questions at the end too as it shows that you have interest in the company. It will also let you know if that branch is a good fit for you or not. If you are successful with your interview then you will be invited for a trial shift. (That's how my experience went).
