The only good thing I can say about working here is I was luckily blessed with an amazing manager who genuinely cares about my well-being but for Admiral this is RARE, everyone i’ve spoken too in other teams and departments are treated poorly

Work life balance:
This is non existent, the shift patterns make it so by the time you’ve finished you’re mentally drained and cannot do anything with the little amount of hours left of the day, before I started I got told i would work hardly any weekends, but this month i’ve worked 3/4 weekends?? 6 days a week? This is far too much and I’ve been completely lied too about the weekend patterns 

Pay:
Base pay is minimum wage with bonus’ to top it up, one mistake made and your incentive has been chopped in half, they take your money!! For the mental stress your under, the pay couldn’t be more terrible 

Management: 
As mentioned I got lucky with my management, but most couldn’t care! All they care about is pushing you to preform well as this is how they earn their incentive, you get spoken down too if you make a mistake rather than helping, get angry if you’ve asked a question and just sit there all day whilst your bringing in their wage! One manager had given a disciplinary to a staff member for missing their shift as they got rushed into hospital via ambulance and asked him to log in outside of work, he was in hospital!? When he returned he had a pushy scary meeting and got threatened he would loose his job if this happened again 

General work life day to day:
TERRIBLE, Everything is timed so god forbid you spend 5 minutes off the phone to go to the toilet! This will get pulled up, and can loose incentive for too many of these incidents, back to back calls for 8 hours a day which is challenging and the people are rude, if you want to get paid to be insulted and spoken down upon all day this is the job for you! They do things such as ordering pizza etc for all staff but this is just all a cover up to seem like they care, they don’t! A lot of young people working here and a massive staff turnover (i see why)

Benefits:
You can get a few benefits such as discounts in food places, bars etc if you show proof you’re an employee which is nice, gym passes etc, you can progress in this job but it’s all favouritism so if your liked it’s easy, if not good luck

Parking:
Can only speak for cardiff office but car parking spaces are gold and the car park can only accommodate probably a quarter off the staff, or you can park in capitol which is a bit of a walk away 

Holidays:
Any day you want off has to be booked weeks in advance otherwise they’re all taken, it’s based on a department basis so only a few slots for holidays per day making it impossible to get a consecutive week off without atleast half the days being unavailable, i worked all around christmas, bank holidays always off though so this is good.

Overtime:
If you’ve even got time to do overtime as you’re always working, the pay rate is double time PLUS an extra £10 per hour which is the only good thing going about Admiral

Extras:
Work parties and events are always good and paid for, meet good friends which gets you through the day

I’ve worked at Admiral for almost 3 years and it’s awful if you work in a contact centre role like myself. 

I moved from customer services to household claims which is much of the same. Micromanaging, long shifts, favouritism, customer ALWAYS comes first, sarkyness and pettiness come to mind. 

God forbid you need to work from home on an office day due to personal circumstances as they’ll force you in then tell you after you arrive that you have to work the time back for being late, even though they forced you. 

If you enjoy being monitored from the time you log in till the time you log out then please apply. If you go over 10 mins of being in a code, you’re expected to explain why even if it’s a difficult claim. You have to go on set breaks and explain why if you go late. You get moaned at for calls queuing constantly whilst trying to manage a queue. 

The favouritism is evident with certain people getting promotions out of nowhere and their bad conduct being swept under the rug. 

You’ll be lucky if you ever get a 1-1, I’m still waiting for my December 1-1 which is likely to be cancelled once again due to management being busy. 

They never have enough staff and the turnover rate is so high that I will be the longest handler on my team of just over a year in April. Expect high workloads and no thanks for it. 

Working for existing claims is draining, stressful and soul destroying. Trust me, don’t do it to yourself. 

I will beg anyone to not work here, or for this department at least. I have heard great things about other departments. This job is not worth your mental health being horrifically impacted. If you’re struggling with your mental health you will not be supported, instead you will be asked what you’re going to do about it. I have never known a group of managers lack so much empathy and interpersonal skills. Far too many colleagues are stressed and upset on a daily basis. You’re expected to reach your targets regardless of how much other work is assigned to you throughout the day. As long as you reach your daily target the quality of the work is overlooked, if your quality of work is professional and isn’t left a mess for the next handler but your targets haven’t been met for that day/week, you will be tarnished, never thanked or praised for your hard work. If you haven’t reached your target by a couple of numbers, it’s the end of the world. Managers are never there, the seniors have to look after teams on a senior salary. One rule for one and a completely different rule for the other, on one is treated the same. Favouritism is very clear from the start. HR will not protect you when you are being treated unfairly. I’m ashamed to have said I ever worked for them.  They lose good staff because of how differently they treat people. The most negative atmosphere I have ever worked in.

My day to day duties involve taking inbound calls from existing policy holders to discuss their renewal premium. My main job is focused on saving the business by making changes to the customer’s policy and to see if any improvements can be made on the overall premium. Excellent customer service and listening skills are essential while tailoring the policy to match the customer’s needs. I also have to up sell additional ancillary products.
                                             Within this role I’ve learned that its integral to listen to the customer at all times and excellent customer service goes a long way.
                                                                    Management are fair and treat everyone as equals. My work colleagues are fun people to get on with. I work within a team of 12 and we’re all a close team and socialise outside of work also. 
                                                           The hardest part of the job is trying to save the business when there’s a large difference in the premium between ourselves and our competitors. I’ve found when offering great customer service this can also go a long way in combating the difference between the two premiums. The most enjoyable part of the job is the interaction you get with a lot of the policyholders and also working within a great team.

My job at admiral although repetitive I will admit has to be one of my most favourite jobs and it was saddening that iv had to leave. I put this down to the people that I work with. Admiral made sure that the environment that you work in is a fun one yet professional one. 

Having to deal with customers on the phone 8 hours a day is not a task for everyone however I was allocated plenty of breaks and time off so that I could relax. Within the last 8 months I found myself closer to the team that I was on compared to previous teams, something I never thought I would find myself like at previous jobs. 

The constant scripting changing all be it small at times I found to be the hardest part of the role which eventually lead to my dismissal. Sometimes small changing which I believed might not of been needed were done and if missing a word could have an impact on you.

The management there was good. Approachable people you felt they were more like your friends rather than your managers, you could chat about anything you like to them work or not work related and you could do it with confidence. 

Despite my dismissal it would still be somewhere I would recommend.

This was the worst job I have ever had and have worked in the sales sector for longer than 8 years. 

You are targeted on every aspect of your job from sales to compliance to how long you are off the phone. Everything is tracked. 

The commission is the worst I have ever experienced and for the level of work you have to put in, it is completely inadequate. 

The ops team are a joke and do not care about their staff, all they care about is making themselves look good. 

The script is changed every month aswell as the process, yet you are penalised for the slightest mistake. 

Even if you are setting up policies worth thousands of pounds they still take it out of your commission if you get a red call. 

Getting a red call could be as simple as missing one word off the script. 

Work life balance is atrocious. 

With all that said, this is not a real sales job.  The money is poor and you aren't even allowed to objection handle to sell, yet you are still targeted on selling. 

They say you get company sick pay but if you are ever off and need sick pay they don't pay it. 

Don't bother. 


I got a job at admiral which was advertised as a paralegal role however once training has finished and you go out onto the office floor you soon realise the job is essentially a call centre role. I feel like the job was completely misadvertised and has wasted my time. A law degree is not necessary as you do not need to use any of your legal knowledge as everything is automated. You are expected to progress files and take inbound calls at the same time often having to juggle tasks, the work is repetitive and many customers are angry due to large delays. There was no job satisfaction and I found that I felt mentally drained at the end of the day. There is little progression within the company and the training is not sufficient for you to complete your job adequately you are often reliant on your manager to answer queries, who is stretched thin. The few positives of admiral law is the building facilities the staff members are lovely & they do offer a monthly team day out which is paid for and you can earn flexi time to have off.

I took this job because I'd heard it was a good place to work and could not have been more wrong.
It could be, it really could, if anyone listened to their staff as much as they pretend to. Managers like to tell people what to do, and make sudden changes with no explanation. There is very little communication between upper management and the teams. 

On several occasions, it seemed it was one rule for one team and one rule for another. Some managers would be fine with certain things, where other managers would take disciplinary action. 

The pay is very low. It does not compete with several companies in the same field, and the pay increases to not reflect the increased cost of living. For the amount of work you are expected to do, the pay in no way reflect the expected output. 

Sick leave is appalling, its only paid for two sickness periods (regardless of days or reason) per year. 

I had a bad time working here, rarely have I been as stressed, upset and overworked as I was in this job. Management didn't care and did nothing to help at any point.  

I worked here for 4.5 years, in my time I didn't progress, I was repeatedly told my performance wasn't enough despite being more trained than most managers. Being Multi-product trained meant it was harder to get support from team managers and were working with more products despite being paid the same as others. 

Progression can be tough unless you're a good performer, but moving up sometimes leads to losing out on monthly bonus. 

Sadly the culture had shifted during my tenure, and led to being non-stop phones all day every day. 

Plus side is that you do get a lot of holidays, especially with the extras they pass your way, and WFM permitting, half-days and spontaneous days off are readily accessible. Some managers are very worker friendly and will do everything they're able to make the job the best it can be for you.
It was a bit much for me but co-workers, and friends who still work there have a lot of positives to say. :)

My job consisted of answering the phone to a numerous amount of customers from all around the UK to set up their car insurance or even to tell them a bit more about their existing policy, also new customers or new drivers would regularly contact ourselves prior to taking out insurance generally asking what our company offered existing customers and new custom to our company that overshadowed other main companies that we were compared against.

Within the job of an sales executive as an individual we were given monthly targets to hit, as a result of gaining more incentive for ourselves and to boost the companies image around the UK of being the most branded and well-known company.
