From My time at BDO as an IT Service Desk Analyst, I can honestly say it is one of the worst places I have worked as far as management, work culture and team Moral. The office and building are really nice and have its perks however I worked there and found that management was very disrespectful and they do not like too compliment and encourage those who are being acknowledged by the user's we support. I got a positive feedback on my first week and no one from management approached me to say good work or fantastic start, literally nothing. 

Personally I believe that there is a massive lack of competence on the team. the Network and Infrastructure team are outsourced and I believe in the future it maybe the same for the IT Service Desk. I am currently working there but awaiting for January to find more openings and opportunity.

Also there is whats openly known as the 'Golden circle' which in my opinion looks more like revenge of the nerds. consist of friends (in Management) that are looking out for each other and those they keen on, whilst other who may not be seen in a good light from this group for personal reasons are shunned upon and you can kiss the idea of promotion good bye :). This is in regards to the IT Team and for anyone joining them. The rest of the business I can not comment.

Would not advise anyone to work as an IT Service Desk Analyst here, simply put, beyond incompetent.

BDO LLP as an employer leaves much to be desired, and I cannot express enough my deep dissatisfaction and negative feelings about my experience with them. Let me elaborate on the numerous issues that make this company an incredibly frustrating and unfair place to work.

Firstly, one of the most glaring problems at BDO LLP is their abysmal compensation structure. On average, they bill employees at a staggering 10 times their actual salary. This means that despite putting in countless hours of hard work and dedication, we are grossly underpaid for the value we bring to the company. It's an exploitative practice that only benefits the company's bottom line, while disregarding the well-being and financial security of their employees.

Adding insult to injury, the salaries at BDO LLP are shockingly low across the board. What's even more infuriating is the fact that they pay recent graduates salaries that are comparable to, or even lower than, those given to individuals who have not pursued higher education. This completely devalues the efforts and investments made by graduates to attain a degree. It's an injustice that the pay off for obtaining a degree is practically non-existent within this organization, thanks to the misguided decision-making of the CEO, who himself is a school leaver.



Working in the London tax group as a senior manager, the firm has slipped and certainly got worse since pre-covid. 

There is high turnover of staff, and very slow recruitment. The Big 4 and industry will always snap people up first. Senior leaders decided to put all grads on furlough, creating resentment at that level, and a freeze on all recruitment for a year during 2020. They are still chasing their tails over these decisions, with teams very pushed for resource and team. Of course though, whilst recruitment is stagnant, revenues must grow even if we don't have enough resource, leaving likeable, hard working and clever people being overworked, underpaid and pushed continually to make up the resource deficit. Remembering of course this is an LLP: there are no shareholders to appease with growth targets, and avoiding a year of consolidation. Just partners wanting to line their pockets. 

It was a decent firm, and a good place to work in 2018/2019. In 2022, I would not recommend it. 


No one will provide much support or teach you. Everyone is busy with their own work and if you don't know about auditing/ accounting you won't have a very nice time.

First couple of weeks I was required to watch videos which were then not very applicable/ sufficient for the job required. After this it was mostly copy pasting jobs. More attention was paid to the presentation of the internal documents than to understanding the process of an audit and accounting. 

I did eventually learn what an audit was about, how accounting works, what the process and reasoning is as well as other bits and bobs that I believe will be useful to me later on in life.

People at this company are NOT there to make any friends, so if you are hoping to get along with your colleagues don't get a job here.

BDO have given me the opportunity to learn and progress within the company. This has enabled me to provide an excellent client service whilst gaining further knowledge within the industry. I have gained a broad spectrum of experience in audit, pensions, protection and Tax and many other streams which has allowed me to gain the respect quickly from clients.The hardest part of my job can be managing senior managment alongside client responsibility. I manage a small pool of PA's understanding the difficulties they face meeting deadlines offering my support and guidance. My team are very friendly and the firm invests time and resources into staff to help them grow their knowledge as widely as possible, which pays dividends back to clients and makes this a vibrant place to work. BDO show the true meaning of customer service, the bespoke and complex service that is given to each individual client is exceptional.

I started here as a trainee auditor straight out of college and was not given adequate support regarding the work expected of me, professional behaviour and work policies. The only upside is the people there, like with any job at a large corporation, it is lovely to learn and grow alongside peers and lead me to having a great social life. However, there is a huge difference between how partners treat you compared to other coworkers, they do not act as your friend or support at all. I know many seniors and managers would have to work overtime constantly and were not given recognition or financial reward for this- usually to stay in line with partners/ directors budgets. 

The standard of work here is terrible, the focus is on turning out audits quickly instead of providing quality audit services to clients. The relationships between audit teams and clients is also terrible, it feels like a fight to complete every piece of work.

Looking after mailbox and answering emails to the client facing team.   Working within a team, answering queries and helping others when needed.  Allocating work to members of the team, keeping updates on progress.  I feel learnt to have the confidence in knowing how to respond to certain emails and giving them the correct information they need so has been a learning process as learnt a lot myself along the way.  The workplace is a mixture of mainly young staff with some older generation working together as the office is expanding more and more.   Hardest part is being constant with emails and prioritising of work and making sure forms are processed within deadlines. A relaxed office so makes the job enjoyable with a mixture of ages within the teams.

I am an enthusiastic, punctual and reliable individual with excellent organisational and administrative skills.  I have a flexible yet tactful attitude with good interpersonal skills.  I am a motivated, presentable and confident person who can mix and communicate well with all social groups at all levels. 

I have a professional attitude towards my role and can prioritise my work load and that of others to ensure that all deadlines and targets are met with the appropriate action.  I adapt well to new challenges and can work on my own initiative as well as part of a team. 

I am looking for a challenging role that would allow me the opportunity to add to the role but will also allow me to grow within the company.  I have gained substantial experience throughout my career and I feel I would have a lot to offer.


The Shared Services Centre in Liverpool is unique to the firm in that its function is solely to cut down on costs, this is reflected in the very poor levels of pay and the attitude towards staff. Staff are not allowed to work from home, listen to music on their headphones whilst working or have any of the other minimums that are granted to staff in all the other offices. 

The bulk of the staff employed are quite young, and this will lend to a good social life, but this does not make up for an atmosphere where employees are made to feel disposable. In my time there I saw more than two dozen people leave personally, that is no exaggeration. It creates the impression that staff are disposable and that there is no effort to retain people.

This office does not live up to what we expect of BDO when hired from overseas. They hire people just to keep them stuck in one grade for many years. If looking for a promotion try other offices , definitely not this one. The culture is also not the best , you don’t get promoted and you’re treated like you’re worthless and in my experience you’re controlled and can never take charge of your life. It’s just not what I was promised and just to be wary of joining ensure to get the full story. You don’t even get support to grow, if you make mistakes you’re treated like the worlds most useless human being , if you ask questions same thing. It’s like you tell someone I can swim but I’m not a pro and they throw you into the ocean then get shocked if you’re drowning.
