My daily work:
	
2008  – 2009 

•	Researched open source information and content vendor information pertaining to threat impact on DB, e.g. kidnapping (Brazil), social unrest (Thailand), power outages (South Africa), militant raids on oil / gas pipelines (Nigeria), business ethics (Russia), pandemics and other threat issues.

•	Analyzed information on threats concentrating on the UK, Middle East and Russia and to assist a lead intelligence analyst in compiling data.

•	Reported to the Head of Intelligence-Analysis and the Head of Collections.

•	Worked according to the CIA - standard guidelines - in the collection and analysis of information. 

•	Conduct background research on economic and commercial topics of importance to DB. 

•	Assisted with the editorial and production of monthly interdepartmental intelligence reports.

•	Available to attend relevant conferences and meetings to collect against requirements.

  I learned about situational awareness in travel risks in different countries from intelligence sources. 

Management and my co-workers were experts in their fields.
Everyone worked in a team and trusted one another. 

The hardest part of the job was having to write multiple reports and research them at the same time in an hour and a half and keeping the reports to a page and a half. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is learning what is intelligence information as compared to the information that is already in the public domaine. 

The work is very interesting and team oriented involving tons of research, writing and time sensitive.

I did the same job for almost 20 years. I worked for ING Barrings, then JP Morgan, Deutsche bank and lastly Nomura


This was the first role away from Investment Banking. I was a trader of Japanese Equities for almost 20 years, 3 of which I was based in Tokyo, Japan. I was a facilitation trader which meant I had clients phoning up, asking me to make a price in different stocks and in different sizes. To make these prices I have to price in the sentiment of the market, current currency rate, especially if the stock was a 'bluechip' stock ie Sony or Honda that are effected by a weaker or stronger Yen over the dollar. Have to read every piece of news that has come out on the stock recently. Work out how the stock has performed vs other stocks in the same sector and see if it has outperformed or under-performed the last 3,6 and 9 months. You have to work out the dollar amount of the trade which you will use to work out how many index future contracts you need to  buy or sell to hedge the position. A busy day would see me do this 40-50 time a day. Very exciting, especially if you're able to unwind the position for a profit. The trading floor is a sacred place, you have to be confident in what you do and how you do it. You have encourage your team, the sales team, and get them to start calling their clients to offer stock that you've got on the book. There's no better feeling than buying stock from a client and then selling it to another client for a profit

I only spent six weeks with the events team at Deutsche Bank as I was there to assist with one of their bigger events.  Deutsche are the main sponsor for the Frieze Art Fair and provide a VIP lounge on site for their guests.
  While working with the team I was to provide support in any way necessary to enable a smooth and organised event for the Deutsche guests to attend.  This included such things as putting together promotional packs and ticket packs, collating all of the guests personal details and ensuring that all guests and staff had the relevant passes.
I was offered support where needed and given the freedom to work on other projects were I required to help.
Whilst at Deutsche I was given the opportunity to visit possible locations for Clients to stay or dine at to deem if they were suitable.
The hardest part was that as an intern I was there for one specific reason, when I was not needed on my project or had completed my work I found that tasks to fill my time were hard to come by.
  Working on the Frieze Art Fair was thoroughly enjoyable and allowed a glimpse into an alien world that would have otherwise been difficult to see and to learn from a fast paced work environment.

I had worked in this company for 51 weeks as a temporary employee and was offered a permanent position which I had accepted only to be told the day before my contract expired that there was a recruitment freeze and the permanent position no longer existed and that my last day would be the next day. It was a shock at the time, and it did leave a sour note on my years employment with them.

As a investment administrator, my regular tasks would include answering all phone calls on behalf of the investment directors I was working under and following up on any other further queries that they may have had. As well as this, I would receive numerous emails from back office in order to complete some processes for the client and numerous emails from the clients and Independent Financial Advisors. My regular tasks included the general administration and upkeep of client records and data and ensure that any anomalies where effectively addressed.

I found it very challenging but a great experience. I have learnt a lot about private wealth management and investments, and its definitely an area I want to explore further. However, I am eager to explore further into financial services as a whole.

A typical day at work - was fully occupied by various tasks such as booking travels, arranging conference calls and taking phone calls simultaneously for the team of bankers.

I learned how to organise and get things done asap due to time constraint, and learnt a lot from the in-house system.

Management has provided very good IT support when needed, especially working on the Trading floor where Capital Market Department locates.  

My co-workers are generally very friendly and supportive because being a team player is the culture of a team.

The hardest part of the job is to arrange a global conference call successfully in time, especially when the call requires over 20 participants but located in England, Australia, Far East, US and Europe.  Most likely, it takes a long time to work out and very often it could not be arranged in time due to the huge difference in time zone.

The most enjoyable part of the job is never get bored because constantly there are various type of admin. work requested by the team members.

•	Extensive travel arrangements and itineraries including visas, flights, accommodations and ground transport

•	Preparing detailed PowerPoint presentations including creating and updating charts and tables
•	Updating Salesforce (CRM tool) with meeting notes, presentation requests via the mailing campaigns and updating client contacts 
•	General administrative duties 
•	Creating and uploading quarterly securities stock meetings minutes to Global RREEF Mailbox and file-net   
•	Processing detailed and lengthy expense claims
•	Reviewing and managing the research teams mailbox and shared drive
•	Arranging and coordinating regular ad hoc internal and external meetings
•	Maintaining and circulating monthly investor reports and publications schedule

A demanding and intense workplace with opportunity to move between business functions.  The company offers many opportunities to go over and above your normal daily work and be involved with projects and initiatives across the board.  It is a demanding culture and there are standards in the form of values and beliefs that set the tones for the whole company.   As with most companies not all managers are the same but the majority are excellent and very keen to develop team members via coaching and mentoring.  The work and the hours can be extremely demanding and while there are always discussions and plans to improve this it seems to be an accepted part of the culture.  The most enjoyable part of the job was working in an environment where there was a wealth of opportunity to develop and to be involved with the development of others.

•	Remediate existing client files and update the KYC documentation in line with the AML guidelines and 3rd EU Money Laundering Directive.
•	Maintain and update client information and documentation within the KYC data systems
•	Escalation of high risk entities to AML as part of AML Guidelines.
•	Data collation for the MIS team of weekly and monthly performance of historic review for the MI Dashboard.
•	Ad hoc support of sales front office and sales assistants with regards to client account opening.
•	Improve effectiveness of department by streamlining processes, and implementing new/updates to procedures within Excel, whilst also providing assistance to excel queries
•	Collate and track KPI/GPI inefficiencies of the Historic Review team
•	Writing the local procedures for the Historic Review team role. Developing user guides for processes detailing all aspects of the role as an online resource
•	Creation of MI models to track daily updates of historic remediation pipeline.


A typical day at work for me involved a morning meeting with my managers to discuss the priorities for the day or week, responding to queries from the various project managers, time spent on checking the latest project cost plans and their respective budgets, maintaining the project management share point site, and working on the reporting to provide the COO team.
This was my first experience within the project management space and I learned how to negotiate internally with project teams in order to work within their budget constraints and to allocate resources effectively.
The hardest part of the job was that much of the project management work was moving offshore and as such the workload was not enough to keep me occupied towards the end of my time there.
The best part of the job was development of the relationships with the project management staff at DB.

Due to the nature of the work, a typical day evolved providing administrative duties to my team and handling their busy workload. 

Even though a had worked for large corporations before Deutsche Bank was a very structured company and had specific ways in which work was carried and out and their complex systems.

Despite that Deutsche Bank was a hard working place they also had a good environment and culture ethics to work in. The diversity was great and equally opportunities and fair working environment. 

The hardest part was there was no room for error at times due to their complex technological systems.

The most enjoyable part was the rewards and benefits they offered and provided. They believe in working hard but also rewarding their staff for their hard work and commitment.
