A typical day at Enterprise revolves around team work, strategic planning, meeting deadlines and delivering high level customer service throughout, meaning everyday is a new challenge. Whether you're out on the road delivering cars to corporate customers, chasing extensions for insurance bookings or providing information and going out of your way for retail customers, there is always something to keep you busy. Enterprise focuses on key sections, and has allowed me to gain valuable, hands-on experience. Customer service is key, so having good interpersonal and communication skills are very important in order to succeed and build relationships with everyone you meet. Your aptitude for sales and ability to understand your customers needs is vital. Marketing is also a big part of your every day, investing time and building relationships with the local businesses around the area is a focus at Enterprise, there are lots of opportunities and flexibility for you to take time going out for meetings and marketing lunches with these accounts and to essentially be your own boss. Within this you learn how to manage a fleet of 200+ cars, your team mates and the day to day operations of a multi-million pound business and treat it as your own. I think one of the best things about working at Enterprise is the unique promote-from-within culture, meaning that all your managers were once in your shoes, so everyone knows how difficult some days can be as a trainee and this also gives you huge motivation to keep pushing on to achieve Branch/Area level management positions. Daily rental is only one section of the business too, there are many different career paths you can take within the business whether this be within head office in accountancy, recruitment, HR or re-marketing, Enterprise allows you to explore many different avenues of business with ease which is really exciting. There is no denying the hours at Enterprise are long, working 10+ hours a day is tough, being in such a fast paced environment can be hard to cope with and trying keep your head above water with the general day to day running's of the business, whilst completing your training file can some times feel impossible. A little more time management within the office wouldn't go a miss some days. However i can honestly say, the benefits of this career definitely outweigh the hard times. The buzz in the office when your team achieves a goal, you hit a person target or get a shout out off a customer make it all worth it and its moments like this that keep you going.  Your team mates become your family and the relationships you build and the people you meet are second to none, there is always someone there to support you. On top of this, the promotional opportunity and competitive salary benefits are hard to beat. Enterprise offers an excellent training and development scheme and your career is mapped out for you from day one, with stage tests and completion dates set to keep you on track, with every promotion coming with a big pay rise. There are many branch/area nights outs, many free lunch events to attend and big performance based rewards to be had. Every day is a challenge but every day is also so rewarding. I couldn't imagine myself in any other career.

I have completed the graduate training programme with a very high score in my final interview, and I can tell you that what I am saying is a genuine reflection of my experience at the company. 

If you have a sports degree but are no good at sport, join Enterprise. The job is advertised as a 'graduate scheme', but in reality can be performed by anyone with a GCSE education. If you have a degree that does not involve turning up to lectures in trainers or does not have the word 'management' in it, Enterprise is a waste of time.

The role is advertised as a 9-5 Monday to Friday (which is a flat lie) since I have never seen a single branch that did not work on Saturdays, or work 10 hour shifts as standard. The management also blatantly treat employees as a secondary priority after profit, and try to disguise this obvious attitude with their first 'cornerstone' which is supposed to be employee development. It's pretty hard to develop when you work six or seven day weeks in certain branches, and spend the whole time driving. 

They advertise a competitive pay, when in reality is very uncompetitive compared to real grad schemes, and only ever increases when adjusting to inflation, but is sold to employees as if they are 'the luckiest little helpers in the world'. This is a demonstration of how the whole company is basically run by salespeople, selling each other a dream, which is never quite as good as it sounds. 

The training itself is hardly difficult to grasp, but they give you pointless tasks along the way to flesh out the process, with three tests (which everyone cheats in and thus gets very high scores), and finally a 'management qualification interview' where department heads walk you through everything you already know because they want one more shoulder to the financial grindstone. 

Possibly the worst thing about this company is the painful culture. Those who do well are either good at pretending they love the company, or are too stupid to realise that they are being shafted by American ultra-capitalists (and don't take that as a political slur because I'm not even left-wing myself). The company markets itself as a 'family owned' business, which hardly couples with the fact that they are a billion dollar business that has a monopoly on the car market and has forced all of it's competitiors almost to bankruptcy. 

Enterprise also push the phrase 'we work hard and we reward hard work', and openly tell employees they can get to the very top if they try hard enough. This is directly opposed to their claim that the business is family-owned, meaning that you really can get to the very top... as long as you happen to be born into a specific American billionaire family. 

The American theme also continues when you realise that there is a clear glass ceiling for all non-American employees, whereby out of almost a dozen 'group managers' in the uk, only one of them was not shipped over from the US. The entire premise of the graduate scheme is that they 'only promote from within', which you soon realise is the most ridiculous possible position considering the 'within' is literally millions of employees from across the globe who are regularly shipped abroad to take over a position that could have been filled by someone locally. 

Feel free to join the company if you want to make 50k for a few years in your late twenties. But trust me, you will sacrifice your entire lifestyle for it, so you better have no other option.

Where to begin? I was with the company for two years and went through it all. To be honest my feelings are very negative about the job but I can see some positive aspects too. 
So the management trainee programme is little more than a tick box exercise where you're "trained" to be a manager yet despite the company ethos and rhetoric from head office, you receive very little actual practical training instead you're thrown in the deep end and expected to cope. Of course, if you can sell well then the company will be all over you despite never being able to find time for things like marketing (that you're promised). 
The hours are extremely long as the company takes on more and more business and seems determined to understaff. I'm a hard worker so used to this but regular 70 hour weeks whilst staying until every delivery is done will be demoralising. You'll find yourself delivering to a location up to 50 miles away from the branch (geographical areas will differ on branches) with things inevitably going wrong or picking up more bookings and being forced to travel to the nearest branch for a particular type of vehicle due to the specific insurance / warranty customers. 
I found it depends on the individuals at the branch but some wouldn't even thank you for staying after they've long gone home. I realize that sounds pretty but it really bugged me.
The pay is minimum wage (even for overtime) so despite working 60 plus hours a week you'll not be taking home more than a normal wage job. Managers are paid on commission plus a basic salary. They claim to be very customer service orientated but managers know how to play the game and get around this. I have seen some severely questionable decisions which I did report to higher authority on numerous occasions yet, surprise surprise, the head office machine protects its own kind time and again. 
Don't get me wrong, on paper it's an enjoyable job however the position you're placed in of being acting branch manager is peppered with complaining customers (who are told incorrectly from the call centre) and damage disputes although to be fair they are relatively clear on that. The volume of work means you could work literally all day and night with people in head office phoning wondering why trivial tasks haven't been done. 
I maintain that enterprise is akin to a triangular scheme as the turnover is very high and they tend to be quite disposable of interns and managers for minor issues. I never actually met anyone who worked their way up to a head office or cushy 9-6 office role in all my time there (something fellow members of staff were trivial of too). Some really trivial demotions and sackings in my time there. They work people to the bone and they get manager positions but never maintain them. I was one of the longest serving in only two years and the people above me were long term managers who got on with the regional manager. 
My advice is to get the experience over one year or so and look elsewhere. Many companies look favourably on enterprise employees as they know the hard work they put in. I was lucky enough not to be brainwashed by their impactful corporate message and always took things with a pinch of salt. 
Enjoyable for the most part (especially seeing parts of the country I've never seen before) but I'm thankful that I had my eye elsewhere as the job is not stable unless your face fits with higher management (regardless of how much you give their business). Proceed with caution but if it's first venture into management don't assume all jobs are like this one.

I worked at Enterprise for over 2 years. The initial phases are quite good, you get treated well and the company really act as if they value you, just to brainwash you into buying into their corporate structure and selling you the dream of career progression. Once you pass your MQI (essentially training file) you become a Management Assistant which allows you to apply to become Assistant Manager. Everything is great up until this point. 

When you become an assistant manager you then realize what this company is really about. Constant pressure and stress, sleepless nights thinking about the pressure you are under to meet customer demands the next morning. Shortage of vehicles yet the company continuously take on reservations and expect you to meet demand when there is literally not enough supply of vehicles. You have to do everything yourself, from cleaning cars, operating fleet management, dealing with complaints etc. 

The competition between branches becomes unhealthy as its encouraged to do anything you can to screw over other branches and protect your revenue (for example hiding damaged/faulty vehicles). 

No matter how much you put in at this company it will never be enough.  You could work 60 hours in a week and have 200 completely happy customers, but you will get torn apart for the 1 unhappy customer you couldn't satisfy because of the company set up making this virtually impossible. 

The company do NOT care about its employees at all, they showed this during the COVID-19 pandemic. No PPE, ridiculously poor cleaning procedures for cars, no safety for staff in branch with social distancing. They found opportunities to sack people during this time also and claimed it was 'performance based' or 'unethical practices', when in reality the company was shrinking and therefore had to get rid of people and didn't want to pay redundancy. 

In conclusion, so that this is not completely one sided, the first year was good, great experience, teaches good work ethic and ability to deal with very difficult customers and work under intense pressure. However, if you are going to join, put a time frame of 18 months and 2 years absolute maximum.

Awful, long hours, underpaid, toxic.

The work environment itself is a breeding ground for stress and dissatisfaction. The physical office space is reminiscent of a prison – dull, lifeless, and designed with little consideration for the mental health of its occupants. The lack of natural light and ergonomic amenities only added to the overall gloominess.

The expectations set by management are nothing short of absurd. Long hours are not only encouraged but practically enforced. Overtime becomes the norm rather than the exception. The company's apparent disregard for work-life balance is disheartening, to say the least.

Moreover, communication within the company is abysmal. Important information is often lost in the void of mismanagement, creating a chaotic and frustrating work atmosphere. It seems that the higher-ups have little interest in fostering a collaborative and open environment.

To make matters worse, the pay does not reflect the effort put in. It's insulting to see such a lack of appreciation for the hard work and dedication that employees bring to the table. This company has mastered the art of undervaluing its workforce, leaving employees feeling unappreciated and demoralised.

Within the toxic environment, negativity seems to permeate every corner of the workplace. The toxicity begins with the leadership, where a culture of micromanagement and arbitrary decision-making runs rampant. Managers are quick to criticise but slow to provide constructive feedback or support. This lack of leadership effectiveness trickles down, creating an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty among the employees.

The constant pressure to meet unrealistic targets and deadlines fosters a cutthroat competition among colleagues. Instead of collaboration, there's an atmosphere of distrust, with employees wary of sharing ideas or helping each other for fear of being undermined. This cutthroat culture not only stifles creativity but also creates a palpable tension that hangs in the air.



In conclusion, unless you enjoy being overworked, under appreciated, and subjected to a toxic work environment, I strongly advise against considering employment with Enterprise Holdings. There are far better opportunities out there that will value your skills, time, and well-being. Save yourself the trouble and look elsewhere for a job that respects and recognises the efforts of its employees.







Your day starts at 7:45 AM and can last anywhere from 6:30 PM to 9 PM, depending on the branch’s workload. Working 45–60+ hours a week leaves you drained with no time for yourself. You’ll juggle customer service, fleet management, sales, deliveries, and even cleaning cars, despite that not being in the job description. The job is fast-paced, and customer frustrations are common due to a flawed booking system that allows people to reserve vehicles that don’t exist—leaving you to deal with the backlash.

In regards to the branch you work at, although you’re applying for your local branch, it doesn’t mean you will work there. Please look at all branches within a 0-60 minute driving radius, as there’s a high possibility you’ll have a much longer commute than you expected.

You will also hit burnout in this job. At first, you think, “This isn’t so bad.” The pace feels manageable, and you tell yourself you’ll adjust. But then, the tiredness kicks in. You’re constantly exhausted, running on autopilot, and before you know it, you’re burnt out within a few months. You’ll barely see your family or friends because you’ve sold your time and energy to this company. Your two days off? Spent catching up on sleep, errands, and life you’ve missed during the week. There’s no real work-life balance—just work.

I will say that the training is excellent—thorough, well-structured, and makes you feel supported. It gives you hope that this job could be a great long-term career. However, the moment you start in a branch, reality hits. What seemed like a promising career quickly turns into stress, exhaustion, and feeling like just another replaceable worker. Furthermore , HR is a great department—one of the few that genuinely supports employees and stands by them when needed.

Enterprise sells a dream of leadership and career growth, but in reality, the long hours, unrealistic expectations, and exhausting culture will break you down. The high turnover rates and endless job advertisements says it all.

If your strengths lie within sales and you don’t have much going on for yourself and willing to spend 45-60 hours of your week at work then this job is for you. If you’re looking for a well paid job, but still want to be able to do things I’d be looking elsewhere.

The job is advertised as Management trainee, but believe you me, you will be a sale and customer service expert and never do any management training really. 
I am on my second week and since it doesn't usually take me long to figure things out, I have realised that this job is 90% sales, customer service and driving, perhaps 10% or less of management. you will work 45-60 hours a week, sometimes including weekends, the pay is very low considering how much you work, for a perspective my previous NHS job which is a low pay, on a full time basis you could make £24k a year working what they call full time (3 shifts of 11.5hours daily) which is about 37.5 hours/week when it adds up to the full month. and yet you have the choice of working more to make more or enjoy your other 3-4 off days a week. At enterprise, you work close to 60h/week and you make 27k a year, with no chance to work more to make more because clearly you are already working 5-6 days a week. 

Also, bear in mind that wage doesn't actually grow, you only make more if you get bonus, which is based on your team/branch/area achieving target in that way the bonus is paid.  But really, who cares about bonus that may not be achieved? when other jobs wage increase by experience, time, and position. at Enterprise, it doesn't work like that.

Employees are very young, full of energy and fun  to work with. that's an absolute Advantage. and the fact that you get to drive new cars on a regular basis that is another one. Sometimes you could be driving cars half of your shift. I'll leave it with you to decide whether that is a Pro or  a Con. But is it really a Pro when they call it management trainee job tho?
The job starts at 8am, but team is asked to come at 7:30, when one day I came 7:45 manager had a problem with that, calling me to the office straight away, Not going to lie, that gave me the "dictator environment" type pf vibe. I am staying for a bit more, as in 6 months this could look good for my undecorated CV. But this isn't the place if you want to earn well, have social life, and excel in a respected career.

In sum:
PROS: Driving new cars, fun and young colleague, Easy & Fast recruitment, Free dinners, 
CONS: Very low salary for long work hours; Very long hours (50-60) regular week in and out; Too much driving; 

I've absolutely loved working for Enterprise. Everything from the first day, the career progression, the training sessions, the customer service, the booking management on customer ERP software and much much more; all is planned ahead for you and you've absolute support of your colleagues and management.
You will have regular 1-to-1 meetings with your management to help assess your performance, guide you to improve your shortcomings, understand and support if you've got any issue (personal in life or work related).

It is a fast-paced working environment where you've to PLAN and implement.
You've to prepare vehicles, drive them around and pick and drop customers.
If you love cars and have a CAN-DO attitude, this is the right job for you.
Very clear career progression with lots and lots of departments and fields to branch out.

Also, if you perform well, you get have free coffees, free lunches and even hit Elite Club where you get meet the top brass of your region and do a fun activity somewhere. I went to Cheltenham horse races and Winter Wonderland. All expenses are paid for. The company even offers to pay for your train tickets, if need be, or give you conveyance to drive yourself. Always fun!

However, you get to come to the branch half an hour earlier than opening time, which is fine. You get to have your morning meeting, set up the plan and responsibilities for the day. But the same isn't the case at the end of the day.
You get to leave ONLY when everything is done. So this could mean sometimes staying back for several hours. That's the ONLY drawback for me.
And you mostly work one Saturday or alternate Saturdays (depending on staff availability). Saturdays are usually very tough since you have half a crew working but the bookings and everything else is the same. Since Enterprise DELIVERES AND COLLECTS vehicles from its corporate customers' offices and/or homes, you have to NOT ONLY do the deliveries and collections for that Saturday, but also for the Sunday bookings and Monday first half (early morning) bookings.

This is a great organisation to develop and learn various skills and competences. It's a fast paced environment where you can really excel and work your way up the ladder depending on your performance. 

This company makes you work hard but also rewards hard work. Your typical day starts at 07:45am with a team meeting and generally finish's at 19:00 (despite only been advertised till 18:00). You cover a load of tasks throughout the day depending on your position. 

As an Area Manager, I was responsible for the development of my teams, deliver exceptional customer service in which we could maximise on profits by selling our services and ensure we are controlling our costs. This in-turn would bring growth to our business.

I feel, as an Area Manager it was important that you continue to develop a strong team below you and ensure your taking interest in their development as well as all the other things you do as well, at times it does feel like you don't have enough hours in the day to accomplish everything you wanted to, so, being so passionate about the job and your career you tend to stay on to do more. 

The people that work for enterprise are like one big family, everyone gets on with everyone no matter which location or office you work at. The team spirits are generally really good so you always want to work for each other.

Working on the grad scheme for ERAC is not for the faint hearted. Long working hours with short breaks will test anyone. Couple that with unforgiving customers and a rental policy that sets you up to fail, then you'll get an idea of what it's like working for ERAC. 

You'll be tasked with finding vehicles to match reservations with sometimes, one hour's notice - which is difficult when the vehicle selected by a central team is over two hours away. The rental booking system is not adequate to provide customers with excellent customer service, as there are no sophisticated systems which allow customers to accurately determine stock before securing a reservation. Which means customers will often be provided with a different vehicle than selected, or be informed of a delay in your reservation. 

Beside's the reservation system, there are opportunities for graduates to secure exposure in customer service, upsetting customers with insurance and vehicle products, handing bad debt and chasing unpaid invoices (only the case if the branch you're working for doesn't have a successful relationship with the client) and vehicle maintenance/fleet management. You'll be entrusted to book cars in for repair when required - again, this a problem with ERAC's desire to run lean and not keep stock. Should one customer return with a big crack to the windscreen, then given there could be half-hour turn-around between the reservation for customer two, you'll recognise that customer two will be denied a vehicle (obviously for safety reasons) and be delayed until another vehicle can be sourced. Again, there decision to run lean and not keep stock results in poor customer service, and there's no room for rebuttal.
