Poor company to work for. Well, at least Poor individuals who work within the job when they shouldn't be.
They come to you when they need something or have problems, or have difficulties finding someone else to do the work, but when you have an issue like with your pay etc, they don't wanna know. You're doing them a favour and not getting paid in return, is the thanks you get! Being promised and assured you're going to get paid but never do, then they go quiet and don't even apologise, nor do they get back to you, even when you tell them you won't be doing the work any more and not going back! If there's one thing worse than not being paid, it's being ignored. Sheer incompetence and ignorance. Disgraceful, really. People have bills, families to support, you may rely heavily on your income each payroll. Like if you had a loan shark demanding their money, and you telling them you haven't been paid and get hit with interest on top of what you already owe! I don't personally, but giving examples.
In my eyes, for each day that goes by where you still haven't been paid, you should be owed a days work on top as compensation. And/or, still get paid if you refuse to go back to the job until you get paid. Loss of earnings. It's not your fault. I bet the company would soon pay up then! Why would you go back to a job when you haven't been paid, and end up being owed even more on top, if you do?!

	Working at Barclays is a joke as well. You have to use a pointless clocking-in system via phone. It's two hours daily. Yet, like a lot of jobs, the more you keep on top of things, the less you have to do on a regular basis. It doesn't even take the full allocated time to do on average, even if you did everything anyway. But, if you clock out early (despite doing everything, or at least what needs to be done), you won't get paid in full! Ridiculous. Why should you be punished for finishing in less time or if something doesn't need cleaning?? Or, you could always go really slow just so it takes the full two hours? Stupid. If most of the things are still clean from the night before, why would you do it again if it didn't need doing?? And what looks worse, too... Leaving early after it's done, or sitting around on your phone hanging out time, and being seen on camera?? Giving the impression that you aren't doing anything and being lazy. I've even gone into work at times, and it's virtually all clean. But you're expected to stay for two hours! Even if you got rid of every single speck of dust one night and did absolutely everything, it wouldn't need doing to that extreme for a while. There's never been any complaints my side, neither. Even when I've finished early. So clearly the place are happy/satisfied. You know something doesn't need doing too, when it virtually looks no different to how it was, after you have cleaned!

	The company can argue and say they're paying you for nothing to leave early. Well, what's the difference in leaving early, and sitting around after everything is done doing nothing, or doing something over and over again, despite it already being clean??
What's even more of a joke, is that the company won't pay you in full if you leave early, or if you fail to clock-in and out, yet still bill Barclays the full whack! They'd claim it's a breach of contract to leave early, but surely they're breaking the rules by charging them the full price? I bet they don't reimburse Barclays and tell them that their cleaners are leaving early! They make even more of a profit, by not paying you what you're owed.
At the end of the day, as long as everything looks clean, regardless of how long it took you, what's the problem?!! I bet they wouldn't pay you overtime if you went over the two hours, neither.
Plus, if you are covering a job and not clocking in due to not having any clocking-in details, you get paid in full! So where is the logic in that?? You get paid properly (well, if they haven't messed up your wages!) by covering, but not if doing the job permanently! All these pathetic rules and protocols. Pedantic.

	A final thing, too. If you don't do say, Barclays. Someone else has to travel from miles away to do it. They don't stay the full two hours, neither. Nor, do they do it everyday and clock in. And yet, Barclays still no doubt get charged the full price for it being cleaned? So that's a breach of contract, surely? If they want to play that game.
The company refuse to pay you in full (if you clock out early) or at all, unless you clock in and out, even if you are doing it on a daily basis maintaining it, yet pay even more for the other person(s) do come all that way to do it, in petrol money! And even then, most of it won't need doing half the time. So, work that one out!! Or no-one does it at all, period. But still charge for the full price.
P.S. You also get line managers telling you to not worry about clocking out, just to clock in, seeing as you might only be doing it temporarily until someone else does it. But what happens?? Despite being assured numerous times you'll be getting paid, you don't! You get constantly ignored, until the bank themselves moan it hasn't been done for a while, THEN they get back to you. If at all! Useless morons.

To begin with from my view from my first interview to actually my first role. I would of said I hit the jackpot. This was from the truth. This company has many great ideas structural elements to its company but it's delivery was not fluid, from Senior staff to those out on the field as workers it there wasn't the greatest of cohesion that everyone was following or at least undergirding the ISS Way. Some senior staff threaten of new employees and using there power to block their potential to rise. Associate employees who were bullies but who no one obviously felt the need to bring in line with the company ethos in order that everyone could achieve a better work culture and represent the ISS way to third party clients. 

Once in my first position. It was so disorganized and by the time anything was done in way of support, it was to late. I felt my time there needed to end as I no longer had the same feeling I did for the company like I did when I joined. 

Joined the company, started my first position, no line manager, eventually I was told they had left, then I was given a line manager, 2-3 months after starting. I carried out my role on site from the start, with no real handover, the previous person in my positioned had already left and my handover was done with another staff member within 2-3 days on site, following an out of date SOP and managing agency staff as the role that would work alongside me hadn't yet been filled. 

The agency staff didn't want to be managed or supervised as they felt they had been there longer, which became challenging and often times incidents took place that could affect the clients expectations. 

Once the new line manager was in place and a new colleague to work alongside. It got progressively worse and not better. 

I was at an extremely low ebb, only to discover a lot more was going on in the background than I realised. The new employee I worked alongside had their own personal challenges and had also been in the company longer. There was no empowerment at all to be able to establish myself and role in the company. They often played the cards they needed to get away with some seriously concerning work ethics again no one tried to really deal properly with this often making running a smooth service very challenging.

In this company, the culture is highly detrimental and damaging to employees' well-being. Here are the key characteristics that define this environment:

1. **Toxic Work Environment**:
    - **Lack of Support**: Employees often feel unsupported by management and peers, leading to a sense of isolation.
    - **High Levels of Stress**: The atmosphere is filled with negativity, conflict, and competition, creating a high-stress environment.
    - **Poor Communication**: Open, honest communication is rare, with gossip, backstabbing, and misinformation being common.

2. **No Work-Life Balance**:
    - **Excessive Hours**: Employees are expected to work long hours, often extending beyond the regular workday into evenings and weekends.
    - **Constant Availability**: There is an unspoken expectation that employees must be available at all times, leading to frequent interruptions during personal time.
    - **Burnout**: The relentless work demands result in high levels of burnout, with employees feeling mentally and physically exhausted.

3. **No Respect for Personal Life**:
    - **Invasion of Privacy**: Management frequently disregards employees' personal time and space, contacting them during off-hours and expecting immediate responses.
    - **Family and Personal Commitments Ignored**: Employees are often pressured to prioritize work over family or personal commitments, leading to strained personal relationships.
    - **Lack of Empathy**: There is little to no understanding or compassion for employees' personal needs and circumstances.

4. **No Boundaries**:
    - **Blurred Lines**: There is no clear distinction between work and personal life, with work demands often intruding into personal time.
    - **Unreasonable Expectations**: Employees are expected to be involved in work matters regardless of the time or situation, making it difficult to maintain personal boundaries.
    - **Micromanagement**: Leaders often micromanage, scrutinizing every detail of employees' work, which contributes to a feeling of constant surveillance and pressure.

In such a culture, employees are likely to experience high levels of dissatisfaction, decreased productivity, and increased turnover rates. The long-term effects include negative impacts on mental and physical health, strained personal relationships, and a generally unhealthy work atmosphere.

One of the worst companies I have worked for in my entire lifetime. I worked as a hostpital  hostess working underneath iss for the NHS and then moved to working as a part of the switchboard team. Whilst working there I noticed a lot unprofessional behaviour from fellow staff and management. I was not given a contract therefore I was working without a contract. I was also not given any training at the job and was learning on the job by myself with the help of fellow staff. When given the training sheet we were expected to fill out that we had received training when we didn’t.Within the second week I was fired verbally by a manager without any disciplinary, i was fired because employees who I worked with told her I was not doing good at my job ( even though I received no training) false accusations were made against me and then the same manager lied and said she did not fire me, because she knew that it was illegal to fire me verbally without any discaplinary. Fellow staff were mean, intrusive, unprofessional and gossiped a lot ( but what do you expect from uneducated bunch of people who lack professionalism)  this made me feel uncomfortable at work every single day. Managers had favourites, so far as to keeping individuals who had many criminal convictions to stay on at the job even though it is illegal for a person with multiple criminal convictions to work for the NHS. I also was not given the correct wages and when I flagged this with payroll they showed no interest with what I had to say and when I also flagged this with management, I was ignored. 

Overall I wish I could give this company 0 stars. Worth ethic is appalling, a lot of work place bullying had taken place and favouritism. Management need more training , as well as new employees should be given training. Iss is a contractor that hire any and everyone to do the job without treating there employees with basic needs every employee deserves.

Highly DO NOT advise working for ISS... Especially in Derby for RDH. Supervisors are up their own butt, manager is a bully! dont care about staff, never feel appreciated. Very unorganised. Never enough time to do the job, ever so rushed and you'll be expected to stay until you're done but think again if you think you'll get paid for the extra time. Get paid £8.36ph (even on a weekend when NHS staff get paid double for doing the same job so dont be suprised when its only ISS staff working weekends or bank holidays because they dont want to pay NHS staff the double pay).. Always short staff so you'll find supervisors on wards. Lucky if you ring down to the office and you get a reply. Some supervisors have no idea what they are doing and just follow others like a puppy. Will take absolute ages to get your payslips. If you have a meeting arranged dont expect it that day they'll change it as you get there. Very unfair management. If you get nominated by a patient for good service, dont expect to get your certificate, manager will say 'no we dont have one for you'. Supervisors will MOAN at you for helping a patient in need, some hostess' put food on a patients table and let it go freesing while the patient is sleeping then take it away if they aint touched it, leaving the patient with no meal. Not all hostess probe food! In a nutshell, I wouldn't eat anything if i was in hospital, they dont even wear gloves when handling food and you are expected to come in if you have physically been sick. Worst place I have worked due to the staff.

Every day brings new challenges be it staff or client led. 

My day can involve either a full shift of administration and payroll, or can see me working alongside the staff team carrying out cleaning tasks and deep cleans. 

The requirement in keeping a flagship building to a high cleaning standard is always guaranteed to keep you busy. Workplace culture is very positive having been integrated into the client building management circle which creates a positive working environment with regular 2 way discussion of issues. 

Have had to enhance existing skills in dealing with a variety of personalities within my own staff team, and that of the client team and management. This has led to learning for myself in how best to present myself in a range of professional environments. 

Hardest part of the job is ensuring a work life balance as I ensure I regularly meet with all of my team which can mean attending work place during day time operating hours and having to return to see the back and night shift teams. 

The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing a job well done, completed in a timely manner to a high standard which allows me to pass on thanks and praise to the staff members involved. 

Additionally, there is pleasure in seeing staff members reach a level of confidence and professionalism which has enabled them to move on to promoted posts, either internally within ISS or with other Companies.

The workload at iss was very unrealistic and unachievable.
I had approx 60 sites to look after, there were many sites without any cleaners on them at all which i was expected to cover myself racing all over the midlands. 
I spent about 85% of my day covering sites with no cleaners, then having meetings with retail managers who were constantly complaining about the poor standards of cleaning staff when they were on site, many sites had no stock to clean with hence the poor cleaning standards, cleaners were unhappy with their jobs all the time, due to their workload being unrealistic, cleaners not being paid for weeks at a time and then when they were they were taxed at a ridiculous rate, i lost a few cleaners like this who left because they had enough of iss.
I was bombarded with e.mail after e.mail all day everyday, bombarded with phone calls all day, the rest of my working day was spent, doing site audits, interviewing new starters, training new starters, dropping off emergency cleaning materials to sites. 
Start at 5.30am on site, cover clean 2.5 hours, then pick up all the complaints, i.e. answer e.mails, then if cleaners phoned in sick you had to work the evenings as well i.e. 6pm to 8pm and all of this was supposed to be done in 40 hours.
The worst company i have ever worked for in over 40 years
If you have no home life and want to live on the job then iss could be the job for you.
My personal experience and advice would be dont bother.

New job with a new contract in a new building, fun but hard work from day one!!!
If on early shift, opened up, turned on all equipment, replenished display fridge and got all serving areas ready, all within 30 minutes before first customers would arrive, when on late shift would be reversed. Two team members early, two late so 4 work the core business time, which was 9am - 2:30pm.
Operation was breakfast/lunch/afternoon tea. Duties were taking and preparing of orders and till operation the customer always came first. Adhering to H&S regulations by taking and recording of food/fridge temperatures or requesting another member of the team carry this out and helped ensure we worked in a safe environment for all on site.
Assisting the manager in the day to day running of the business, each new manager taught me a new skill, ordering from suppliers and general office administration ie reconciliation of till and relevant paper work on Symphony, type up daily menus, weekly work/holiday rotas and arrange cover when needed, oversaw the cleaning schedules, stock take once a week.
Every day was a new day, either in learning something new about a work colleague or in learning a better way make the service smoother. The most enjoyably part of the job being the look of pleasure on a customers face when you went the extra mile whether it be having their coffee etc ready as came in or ordering in or asking chef to prepare a product that they had requested.

Starting off as a cleaning operative on one site with ISS facilities services I eventually progressed into a mobile cleaning supervisor role for high profile clients. This required me to gain/develop an understanding for working in a largely structured company. One who are contracted in providing a good service to another. ISS are contrcated to many different companies in different environments. I mainly worked on the RBS/Natwest and Barclays bank contract because these were the largest and the most widespread. I was also working for Burberry, Nespresso and Carlsberg. I had to lead a work force and meet the constant demands of customers. I had my own area which I was responsible for including roughly 70 sites. My main job was to ensure that the service of cleaning was being provided as it should be on the specification. This meant it was my job to ensure all health and safety documents were in place and that all the necessary equipment was on each and every site in my area. In order to do this I had to communicate very well between the clients and my staff to avoid any complaints. The easiest way to do so was to conduct regular audits and to be well organised. I was responsible for finding cover/over-time and managing annual leave so that ISS was always providing a good service throughout the year. All of this meant that I played a huge part in the company within the north west region.

A normal day at work is fast paced, Keeps you on my your toes and is challenging. I have learned how to manage people, I have learned how to present a high level of maturity and a sense of loyality and commitment to getting the job done and to always satisfying the client. My management team are very demanding but I perform well under pressure and they support me with any ideas I bring up and are very flexible with me. The hardest part of my job is trying to satisfy the client and my manager, Something always gives in the end, I cannot always satisfy the client but 99.9% of the time I always do with-out faila and I do it to the best of my ability. The most enjoyable part of my job is when i go home and I feel relaxed knowing I got all of my jobs completed and when my team feel happy going and leaving the workplace and they have a good realtionship with the management team so we can all communicate and work togther and operate as one team.
