One of the most unprofessional places of employment I have ever had the displeasure of working in.

The Management style is completely toxic and they operate via threats and intimidation which is enabled by a system that cannot and will not recognise their destructive influence.

The leaders excuse their poor behaviour on the basis they have never experienced any complaints which of course is a an excellent tactic of toxic bullying in the workplace.

They keep just enough people in their little click to support them which permits and perpetuates their poor behaviour.

Ive been working there for a couple of years now as a drivers mate and assist the drivers with the deliveries. Recently I was promoted to a superuser which meant I had cash handling responsibilities, this gave me a pay rise but they refused to put it in my contract which gave me cause for concern.

I would turn up at 6am ready to load the lorry and await for an agency driver to arrive, to which they would always arrive late.

Agency drivers are paid by the hour so as you can imagine they were slow, deliberately slow, when put on a route I would advise the drivers on the quickest way to get to the location and was always ignored which meant by the time we finished I wasn't getting home till gone 9pm.

For some unbeknown reason to man the management with their innate intelligence would berate me for this and refused to pay me overtime, stating its part of the pay rise.... seriously? Ive been out since 6am thats 15 hours but they fobbed me off, started blaming me for being late then accused me of causing a bad work environment amongst the drivers which was absolutely untrue. I even spoke to the drivers and they confirmed I had done no such thing.

Management continued to put me on the routes with these agency drivers and the moment I complained they revoked my pay rise and super user status.

Honestly this is a poor place of employment avoid like the plague.

My next stop is to see a solicitor because I really have had enough, I might just be a warehouse op / drivers mate but this employer has no duty of care and is completely unprofessional in their approach.

Worked here for a few month and I can honestly say its the worst company I have ever worked for. 

Management have no clue what they are doing and pretty much make up rules as they go along. Management would say one thing and when you do exactly what you are told, they would outright lie and say they didn't say that. The managers literally do what they want and expect you to follow. Probably the worst Management I have ever seen.

Even though they have insurance, you will be charged a £500 excess for any damage. If you have damaged stock they will take it out of your salary. If you get tickets for any reason, they will take it out of your salary. If you get fake notes, they will take it out of your salary, even though they do not provide you with any equipment to check money to see if it fake of not. In other words, if anything happens you are at fault and will get charged.

They say they will give you a permanent route but they give you different routes every week. One week you could be in Dagenham and the following week you could be in Ipswich. The management only give the good routes to people they like and if your lucky when those drivers are on holiday you might get a decent route. They say you always get a helper but on many occasions they will send you out on your own which means you could finish very late.

When you are delivering to shops and they are closed, company rules state you have to wait for 15 mins and will result in the delivery being cancelled. But that's not the case, they will base their decision on how much the delivery is. If its more then a £500 order they will hesitate to cancel the drop and will expect you to come back later to deliver. Even though you probably wasted 30 mins waiting for the customer. Which means all in all you would end up wasted 1 hour just on one delivery. So if you end up finishing late, that comes out of your own time as there is no overtime pay.

To be honest there is so much to say about the Dagenham branch I could be here all day but all I can say is STAY AWAY FROM JJ'S DAGENHAM.

I have been working for a very long time for JJ Food Service, and although some rumours are  that they don't provide good employment I think its rubbish. Everything depends on if you are willing to work hard, are clever and have common sense. Everything else is being provided for you to raise your personal standards and progress in your career. Opportunities are there for those who want them. Loads of training provided to help you along the way and guidance from those on higher levels, flexible working hours for those who need it. Over the years met some brilliant people who are good friends until now. Management in some departments could improve their 'people skills', but lets face it, wherever you go its the same. The grass is always greener on the other side, some say, but know from personal experience that many people do come back or want to, when it doesn't work out elsewhere. Good starter company for those who want to gain experience and knowledge in wholesaling and associated business. It gets tough when it comes to the salary packages in the lower positions (minimum wage, etc) but that is across the market place rather than here only. Office positions are better, but you need to be qualified or have the experience first, again, like everywhere else. Plain and simple- if you work hard and are smart you will get far, like many, many people here.

Ive worked at the dagenham branch for enough time to see how its run and what goes on, the branch manager and one of the supervisors are completely clueless to what happens in the warehouse, they never come out of the office to check on staff morale and whenever they are out in the warehouse they dont seem to care that the experienced staff are struggling due to lack of staff. The continuous change of staff ive been around have been good people and we dont deserve to be treated like how we have been and probably still are. Since my time there nearly every member of the warehouse ive met has wanted to leave either due to rubbish pay or the management, the staff are very overworked and if youre not turkish or greek and dont suck up to the managers then you will never progress in the company or you will just progress incredibly slowly and it becomes a waste of time and effort. There is alot of favouritism in this branch and they advertise as there is soo much progression for anyone here but in reality they give titles to whoever they like personally themselves. Highly advise against this branch, theres been good moments and bad but the bad outweighs the good massively. This branch just keeps going downhill, stay away.

One of the worst companies in my life I've ever worked for. The human resource department does not know what they are doing. HR methods are not proeprlically used. There is no party, no society too much blamed, your sacked, unfair dissmials. The department's seniors don't know what they're doing, hostile culture of work. One 3-staff department was very micro-managed. I used to weep as I do in the toiliet

I used to weep in the toliet , the way I was talking too. My advice is looking the other way. I am now working for a very big co-operative company that's 100 percent better than this spot, I'm working with very nice people and earning 5 times more than I got. I've been able to get a house with the income I now have since I left Jj Food Service ,doesn't pay decent salaries.

I'm going to be honest with you, the majority of staff are local people who haven't been trained to use any kind of practice. These are the kind of people that big corporations are not going to hire to be honest, so I think JJ Food Service is the only choice they have.

I am so grateful and been blessed that I have left, in my company I work now , in a space of 1 year, I am now a manager. In JJ Food Service it would of taken me very long time maybe 5 yeaes plus, as the deparment have their favourite people.

I wish JJ staff a token of luck for being in a toxicated company.

I have worked at JJ Food Service for three years and in that time I have been invited to get involved in lots of exciting projects - working on new product launches and working with a great, fun, supportive team who are like my second family. 

When I had my first child JJ was very supportive to help me work my hours around my childcare. My career has progressed and developed every year - it has not slowed down just because I'm a working mum. 

The hardest part of my job is travel - it takes me a while to get in, but it's really worth it to work with a great team that supports a good work/life balance. The best thing about JJ is that there are lots of opportunities for people who are passionate and hard working. 

Even if you don't have qualifications - JJ supports you with on-the-job training and development. I definitely recommend it to others but don't sit and expect opportunities to be offered to you - work hard, show commitment and you can create your own career path!

All HGV drivers beware for the long hours, £13 per hour at a fixed rate, but when you stuck in traffic or even coming late from your shift , no overtime payments.

Be expected to start early until finish which the contract states. If you hit your lorry your responsible for paying it. Comes out of your wage, but its your fault.

 Working 6:30am leave the road depending on the route finish at 6pm or 7pm. Which is tiring. I understand theirs no weekend work but still it is long hours.

Management at my branch are very lost and do not what they doing. I believe this store will be shut down soon with the high staff turn over of Warehouse and HGV drivers. They employ many contract people since no one turns up, or leaves within a week. 

I did make friends, and but they all left. 

As a HGV driver other companies pay over £35,000 and their employees that have much more benefits then JJ Food Service has.

And I am glad, I followed with my instincts. :)

A typical day at work at JJ's would include being given an order from a customer and having to search and gather the items/products from the order and placing them on the correct bay. I learnt that attention to detail is very important and also gained some good organisational skills, it was extremely important to ensure each order received the correct products. The management at the organisations were not very organised and sometimes ordered me to complete tasks that were not on my job description as they were under-staffed, I didn't mind this as it enabled me to gain new skills, but it sometimes was very frustrating. The hardest part of the job was unloading delivery pallets that required heavy lifting of over 250 boxes, the most enjoyable would be having my own work area to select and pick products.

I've been working for JJ Food Service for some years now and this was my first job. I've grown from leaving uni without any experience, to being a senior member of the team fairly quickly, I've been given opportunities that i probably wouldn't have had in other companies. We don't get any benefits that are worth mentioning but if you work hard and show your enthusiasm, you can grow your career quite quickly. I've seen warehouse workers and cashiers become branch managers in a short amount of time. Its very easy to move around to other departments even if you don't have any experience. The other employees are also very friendly and make working here a lot better. Like any company, there are good things and bad, different departments operate differently but all in all i really enjoy working here.

As a driver you always start same time of the day, around 6am, and work only weekdays, vehicles are pre loaded, so no surprises. You have a driver's mate and you go to same areas allocated to you, eventually getting familiar with the roads and customer locations, usually there is not much driving as shops are closer to each other, but you have to physically work to deliver to customers. 

I genuinely believe the bad comments about this company (driver related ones not sure about warehouse) is due to the drivers that never experienced multi drop jobs before. If you know what multi drop food delivery is, you cannot get anything better than this tbh. I mean of course you will get difficult days sometimes just like anything else. They also pay well 40k is a very good salary.
