My day at work would start with getting the merchandise off the swag man who would come into the arena with different types of stock for us to sell. We would all firstly start setting up the stands making them ready for stock, We would then all count it, Then check the merchandise,Then set up every stand with merchandise, We would start then setting up the displays for the public to see and purchase. When everything is done we would then wait for more employes to come in for the doors to open to the public, With the employes that come in later on in the day are likely to be the programme chariot or pro-active selling around the arena when doors open we sell during the show as well as the interval. At the end of the night you would re count the stock, Take down displays, Box merchandise away and put it back on the truck. management and the swag man will go over the figures at the end of the night before settling for a cash settlement. 

I learned that its not as easy as it looks, I learned how to work in a team, In a busy environment, Dealing with customers, Using cash out of a money pouch, Counting stock and mental arithmetic.

Management is easy to talk to, Helpful, Great listener and enthusiastic.


My co-workers are all different ages so we are big two different groups, formed into one group they are fun, Can be easy to talk to, Good to work in a team with them.


The hardest part of the job i would personally say is the long hours because you could be working from 2:00 in the afternoon till 01:00 at night.

The most enjoyable part of the job is watching the live shows.

Motorpoint as a company is a fantastic / fun and challenging place to work. The feeling of family within the departments is palpable. Everyone is friendly - easy going yet extremely professional  - we are all focussed on the customer experience and the repeat business generated from that. The long term strategic goals of the company are obvious and achievable with a strong coaching and training base with the view to minimise customer cancellations. the skills I have developed over my 10+ years within the yard department are transport logistics / stock control and rotation whilst keeping accurate stock records and undertaking yearly stock takes. 
The management are approachable and extremely target driven which translates itself through the rest of the sites. There is no hardest part of the job as long as individual development and evolution keep pace with the evolution of the company.
most enjoyable part of the job is the people who work there as we are one massive family who enjoy each others company and depend on each others professionalism to succeed.

The motor point arena was my first ever job since leaving school, i was really scared about my first time working there, however now I love my job and couldn't wish for a better company to work for. A typical day at work keeps you on your toes you always have work to carry out from cleaning, cashing, serving, stock taking and working along side employees. There are many people among the team, which means you work along side a range of individuals and work across different stands throughout the arena. The mangers and staff are very supportive and enthusiastic about the work, which is a real motivation for the team. They also ensure you are fully aware of what is expected and are always there to help with any concerns or worries staff or customers may have. The hardest part of the job is time keeping, as it can get very busy within intervals etc. I enjoy working along side a range of team members and having a different environment and customer to serve each time working.

The management are clueless and argumentative. They seem to get offended whenever you make your point across. 

The supervisor seems to always correct you when you are using the right terminology. Supervisor and manager are big headed and think they are always right 

Roughly around 70% of colleagues including the supervisor seem to have a bad habit of biting their nails in front of customers. 

During the weekends, you never get breaks. It is against the law, however, the company seem to make their own rules up and get annoyed if someone takes a break on a weekend. You would be lucky if you got a break at all. If you stood your ground regarding breaks, they would get offended again

Sales team are always big headed too and always rely on the customer service team to do their work for them.

If you are asking for help and are struggling with the job, the whole team are in a separate room and having a massive chat amongst themselves. You ask for help and they laugh and expect you to know but you’ve not been trained properly.

I worked for Motorpoint Castleford for only 6 weeks. During my time with the company I experienced far too many employees with big egos and non team players. If your face did not fit you were finished with the business.The management would take any relevant opportunity to undermine your learning process in the dealership and challenge your competency with unfounded comments on performance which had a demoralising effect on my personal confidence. I would say that with a new  general manager in place this could be a better and more harmonious place to work for. The customer service team are too young and lack proper life skills to socially interact with fellow employees of all ages properly. The canteen staff are wonderful and so warm and friendly.

I realised quite quickly that Motorpoint was a good company to work for, before they went corporate and turned in mega-capitalists with a revolving door that churned staff in and out of the business at a frequent rate. 

The level of progression is limited, you work long ridiculous hours and taking a break is frowned upon.  

They do invest in staff and offer training courses and self-improvement courses too, but perhaps that's just to ease the tedium of the job role and the petty and asinine nature of some of the management team you have to work with.  

If you want a job that pays reasonably well, and you have little to no interest of progressing within a career then this is the place for you.

Great place to start off in the motor trade, I personally would not leave a secure job to work here. They operate in a very clicky and bullying environment. If your face fits and you have good crack with management you’ll be alright. I have seen many people come and go because they just personally do not get on. Management at the Birtley store are great one on one, soon as they’re out on the floor and In front of the team they become the comedian and the complete opposite and there personality will change and will quickly single you out, they’re not shy to do that in front of you.

Some managers do not have a clue, they will provide feedback in the middle of the court yard in front of customers and other staff. They can be very degrading. 

Motorpoint was a fantastic company to work for, if you don’t mind working late and not getting paid, this would happen near enough every day, if a customer is late, and it’s not your fault, you’re made to suffer. rules should be changed to make customers aware they cannot be late, ruins social lives as you could never plan anything. No work/social balance

Customer service manager was absolutely fantastic and tried to help wherever she could, could not fault her at all 
Staff benefits were fantastic, quarterly nights out, treated to lunch every now and then  Christmas do’s were great fun  and you get an hour a month to do what you want (learn a new language, theatre etc) but was never approved because of lack of staff

I work in the catering department at motorpoint arena, more specifically I work hospitality which includes the private suites and the Best Solicitors Arena Club. A typical day at work entails me serving at a very high standard, I am usually a drinks waiter but I often help to serve and clear food as well. In my role I have developed great customer service skills which I believe makes the customers experience much more enjoyable. Above me is a very good management team that look after all the staff and the catering department. I believe the hardest part of my job is being able to build a good relationship between me and the customer in the space of me serving them. Although due to my experience I believe I am now very successful at this.
