One of the biggest reasons I applied for the job at Pandora Bedford was I was a customer myself. Plus after years raising a child at home I was looking for a job which would work around school hours.
When I was interviewed I could instantly see the manager at that time was driven and wanted her staff to feel the same passion she did about the store. It made me feel positive that Pandora would be the right place for me to develop confidence in myself and to increase my sales skills.

After my 3 month probation period I was officially a member of the Pandora team. During my review I made it clear that I wanted to progress within Pandora, take training and gain more hours. I was I was advised this wasn't possible at this time. At this point I was happy and enjoying my new found love of sales so the thought of waiting didn't faze me.

Sadly my overall experience at Pandora was tarnished around the point business's went into lockdown. 

Our manager had just been promoted to another store and we were left to work from home (bearing in mind my job was sales assistant) under the supervision of the deputy manager. 
This member of staff was out of her league when it came to the overall leadership and all staff members felt left adrift and confused. Eventually our original manager stepped in and covered her new store as well as us. She introduced well being sessions and did her best to ensure we all stayed positive during this time.

On announcement the non essential shops could start to open we were all called in to have a meeting in regards to how it would run in store. The deputy manager stepped up to acting manager once again. 
When we attended the meeting it was clear that the '2m social distancing' rule wasn't being followed and when asked why Pandora wasn't following the government guidelines I was advised 'We cannot make the store bigger, we have to work with what we have.' Ultimately all members of staff were unhappy with the situation but due to the hierarchy within Pandora, we were ignored.

Around a month after returning to store we were finally given a new manager. 

Initially it appeared as though the new manager would try to refresh the team ethic into the store and we all had high hopes it would work. 
Sadly this attitude soon wore off when members of staff began finding any reason to sit out the back of the shop, leaving other members of staff at the mercy of the customers. I performed many 4 hour shifts alone on the shop floor for over 2 hours. Even though it is drilled in to all members of staff that we should never leave only one staff member on the shop floor, this was common place. 

It also became quite clear that the team spirit had fully worn off and cliques started developing. 
Whenever I pointed out there was an issue with something I was ignored or spoken to like I was an idiot. Other staff members directly pointed fingers at a member of staff for her lack of interest in the job and nothing was done. It became clear that unless you were in the managers friend circle you were a nobody and were treated accordingly.  

I couldn't wait to leave.

If your looking for a job where you clock in and out with minimal effort. This is the place. 

One pro that Pandora has is the bonus scheme and 55% staff discount. However I never received anything more than £20 extra in my wages, even though I regularly hit targets and made large sales. Unless your doing 30+ hours (which only management does!) you wont even notice your bonus.


What is the best part of working at the company?
I appreciate working for a brand that is well regarded in the industry and has a global solid customer base and reputation. The jewellery pieces create stories and happy to be a part of the customers memories.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
While I recognise the strength and reputation of the brand, I have encountered several challenges that have significantly impacted my overall job satisfaction.

One of the major concerns is the frequent changes in management, which create a sense of instability and inconsistency. This, combined with the increasing pressure on employees, has led to high turnover rates, and many colleagues have left the company. Moreover, there appears to be no proper structure in place to cover staff absences due to sickness, which often results in additional strain on the remaining team.

Another issue is the expectation to cover shifts at stores far from our usual location. While I understand the need for flexibility, the pressure to agree to these shifts is considerable, and refusing often leads to negative treatment. This has created a sense of fear around speaking up, as it feels as though declining these requests places one in unfavorable standing with management.

Additionally, I have noticed a lack of response from HR on important matters, which further exacerbates the feeling of being unsupported. There is also a concern around favoritism, and it is disheartening to witness certain individuals being favored while others feel marginalized. In some cases, this has led to colleagues forming cliques and ganging up on others, creating a toxic work environment.

I believe these issues deserve attention, as they are affecting employee morale and the overall work atmosphere. I hope this feedback will be taken into consideration and steps will be taken to address these concerns.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Work environment can feel challenging due to several factors. There is a lack of stability in management with frequent changes, which leads to inconsistency and uncertainty. This creates a high-pressure atmosphere, where employees are often required to take on additional responsibilities, especially when covering shifts in other locations. Unfortunately, refusal to comply with such demands can result in negative treatment, contributing to a tense working environment.


What is a typical day like for you at the company?
 A typical day can be quite demanding and fast-paced. Upon arrival, employees usually start by addressing any immediate tasks or issues, often juggling multiple responsibilities. Due to the high turnover of staff and frequent management changes, there is a need to adapt quickly to any new directives or policies that may have been introduced.

You would get to work on the shop floor after putting your things in the back and get ready so that your highdrated, smell nice and look presentable. You would clean the shop floor until a customer came in and you would smile and walk behind the till part. You would ask the customer atleast 3 opening questions such as: what were you looking for?, who are you buying for?, what is your budget?. 
I learned alot about communication and thinking on the spot as if the customer didnt know what charm, bracelet, ring they wanted, they would discribe to you what they desire and there price range and you would pick a few appropriate items for them to look at. I also learned about The way you look and first imnpressions. As Pandora do not have a dress code you had to look presentable as you were representing the Brand. 
The management was brilliant at Pandora as they were keen to know how your day was, your averegage price you sold a day, what you sold, what they could do to help you feel abit more comftable,. always listened if you had a problem, a good laugh, proffesional, always made sure you looked presentable so no fly away hairs, smudged makeup, smelly breath or personal hygeine.
The people I worked with were all different and all pleasent and lovely to talk to. You could talk to all of them easily they were all patient and helping if you were struggling. You could learn atleast 1 thing withion the job with everyone who worked there.
The hardest part of the job is probably having to stand for atleast 4 hours at a time. You had to look professional so yiu wasnt allowed to slouch on the sides and always on your feet. 
The most enjoyable is the team work and meeting new poeple.

•	With Pandora being such a prestigious brand I had to gain an Entrepreneurial spirit and be able to make sound decisions in a fast paced environment. One of the most important responsibilities when working with Pandora is to maintain the customer’s first attitude and deliver legendary customer service.
•	Ability to exceed store and personal sales goal by utilizing sales techniques and communicating product knowledge to the customer; recommends merchandise selections or helps to locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and desires.

•	Ensure store standards are met and maintained, i.e., visuals, cleanliness, signage, safety, etc.
•	Effective communication, organisation and leadership skills.
•	 Performs various sales and register transactions including ringing purchases, processing of cash or credit payments and counting money. 
•	 Maintains an awareness of customers to both increase service levels and reduce security risks; remains current on policies regarding payment and exchanges, customer service, security practices, and other applicable operations.
•	 Maintains knowledge of current sales and promotions; maintains pricing and marketing standards.
•	Build and maintain a solid customer following through building brand loyalty and clientele. 
•	Maintains standards in merchandise handling, presentation, loss prevention, and all other duties as directed by Management.
•	Participate in visual directives including setting pangrams, zone maintenance, and cleaning standard.

Started here in October and was let go in January, a typical day involved getting briefed then going on on my shift. Taking out jewellery for the customers to try on..etc. 

The management was a bit of a mixed bag, some supervisors were lovely and others a bit unapproachable. The other people who worked there were lovely though and we had a good laugh together. 

VERY fast paced environment, there were literally hundreds of people queuing for hours. The worst part of the job was rude customers but fortunately they were few and far between. 

It can be back aching working on your feet all day but that's just the nature of retail. The only specific PANDORA drawback was that the break room was absolutely tiny, and I mean literally about 5 square feet. So sometimes when you were tired from working all day there was literally nowhere to sit. 

Felt a bit screwed over when I was let go, as the permanent staff all got bonuses for their work over christmas (which I helped achieve) and the rest of the people who started in October didn't get anything either. But that was management's greediness and nothing more. 

Overall, I didn't hate working there and would love to go back, but I think it's more of a 'it's not as bad as it could be' job.

I learnt many things working in Pandora like the business part of the retail business, from this I learnt how to sell effectively and sell the utmost amount that I could. I also learnt how to incorporate each of the customers interests in a single charm and with that provide better customer service than they had expected. A typical day at work consisted of friendly "Hello's" as you walked in from other members of staff then 5 minutes before the start of the shift a brief overview of sale requirements and any extra information each staff need to know about stock, sales etc... Dependent on the hours that are worked the usual length of a break would be an hour. The hardest part of the job would be keeping up with the demands of each customer when the stock was running low and also the fact that Pandora was very busy during the Christmas period thus meaning a lot of the customers had to wait to be served making some of them quite rude; and so some would be difficult to deal with. However, the most enjoyable part of the job would have to be serving the customers itself. I love communicating with people and the fact that my job required interaction with each customer allowed me to enjoy what I do. In a way, the job was also rewarding as some customers really valued the jewellery as each has some sort of meaning to them or came from someone that meant something to them.

I worked for the company for a little over 3 years, and honestly don't have much to fault them on bar the lack of progression opportunities! Pandora definitely is not for everyone as it's majorly KPI driven- but if you can see this as a motivation as  a pose to intimidation then you'll thrive. I learnt so much from working in the store, many valuable skills I've taken into my current job. If you want to grow your confidence with selling in a female dominated environment then this is fab! Shop floor jobs sometimes can be tedious-that being said, it does keep you busy. Generally, the company is very manager/management focussed, sometimes neglecting other members of staff. I absolutely adored my team, and if you find a store where you click with the staff, and can cheer each other on-  it sometimes doesn't even feel like work. The fast paced environment makes the day go so quick. A major downside for me was the real lack of progression! After three years I was ready to progress into management but there were no roles within commuting distance sadly. I now am the assistant manager at another jewellery store due to this. and within this time, due to my managers dedication and drive towards training me, and fully competent in the role and am a confident leader! Sadly never had this opportunity in Panodra. But overall, sad to leave but my time paid off massively! 

Was originally fun and I liked my job now it's just all robotic they want you to read from a script because of mystery shoppers which they keep changing all the time so no organic customer report 30 mins lunch break when you are on your feet all day and never leave on time! Very high expectations,  you can't force people to buy overpriced jewellery! If you don't hit targets 3 times in a row get called in office for chat ! 2 faced people pretending to be your friends then stab you in the back first chance they get to save own skin ! To much work for very little In return ! Shame because used to be a fun job with nice people! Now like I said all fake and robotic  ! People will also try steal your sales and  get annoyed if you have a good day and they don't not team happiness for each other ! Also want more bodies less hours ! Always working weekends , not allow to book time off from October- January , over worked understaffed at Christmas management want staff to train xmas employees so they can sit upstairs ! Get us to stay behind to help with change over , its not a choice and something they are big display changes which you have to do once the shops shut so you do your day shift then have to stay for that with no extra pay but time in lieu which you never get back !! 

When hired at pandora i was told it was a 3 month probation and then you would be permanent staff unless you did anything wrong. i was hired in early September so i clearly wasn't a christmas temp like they passed me off to be. Told half way through that i was to be terminated from my job on the 16th of jan whist i was a uni they knew i needed my job to live and stay at university. 
   Bad management with a boss who was nasty and patronising to most of the girls who they left. Loved my team and the girls i met whist working there and the money was amazing although it wasn't enough to make me stay and listen to a woman of 30 patronise me after a 12 hour shift. Oh and thats another thing you'll be put in for an early, starting at half 8 but they want you in at quarter past and then when you finally finish at 5 they'll ask you to stay another hour or so and if you simply cant or are to shattered to they'll accuse you of not being a team player and moan at you and say its expected.
    On the week of christmas i went from doing 16 hours to 52 hours and i lived away from home management wanted me to be home alone for christmas with my family miles away from me. Bad place to work unless you can put up with horrible bosses for the money.

In this position, I developed new skills and strengthened existing ones such as: key customer service, product knowledge, upselling, and to take the initiative. My daily tasks as a sales assistant where to provide outstanding customer service, work well under pressure, and to suggest alternative solutions to customers. Throughout my time at Pandora I had to do a number of online training courses to keep my product knowledge up to date when new products where released, this would then increase my chance to upsell to customers. On a daily basis, we were placed under high pressure to achieve personal targets and to ensure the stores KPIs where all obtained.

Although I learnt all these key skills, management was very toxic as they cared little about there employees and only cared about themselves, there position in the company, and what benefited the company. An example of this would be when i asked management if i could only work an 8 our shift on Saturday instead of a 4 hour on Saturday and a 4 hour on Sunday to ensure i could have a day off on Sunday to complete college work, they responded with no and as i left the manager said to another colleague "If he carry's on complaining i will simply cut his hours"  regardless that this was the first and only time i asked.
