RGIS Inventory Specialists

I advise anybody that doesn't work for RGIS already to avoid at all costs. I've encountered so many problems while working here. If you like the idea of being underpaid, overworked, undervalued and overall just treated like you're not human, then this is a great place for you.

I worked for the company for just shy of 4 years. In that time I became one of the top counters in the district - however, there are new hires getting paid more per hour than I am. The bonus program that was "designed to incentivise" us, is biased completely towards the less capable and new counters - I could potentially work more hours, count 10 times as many items, work 10 times as fast (doing 10 times more for the company) and still end up getting paid less for the day than a new hire barely able to tie their own shoes could.

There have been multiple occasions for me where holiday pay/time has been authorised, however, when the payslip comes around, there is no sign of it. When queried, I was told on one occasion that it would be paid on the next payslip, which unfortunately meant that I ended up taking a much lesser daily rate for it.

There have been days when the pay that was due to come into my account hasn't (including today as I write this), when queried one time I am told it's affecting everybody and it would be fixed asap with no real explanation.

The way pay works is - normal hours are paid as normal... Travel pay (for passengers) is paid after the first hour of travel, from your meet time until you sign in for work, and from when you sign out of a job until you are dropped back at the meet site. This is unless a driver forgets what the times are and sends the wrong times in, in which case you're likely to be paid less than you're expecting unless its spotted and queried. Breaks are paid after 2 hours... I have experienced it, where the Area Manager has been in store, we have arrived at a store only to find we aren't going to start for another 90 minutes. He then told the supervisor to sign us in for work for 5 minutes and then sign us out on a break - effectively stopping our travel pay but keeping us in the store unpaid for 90 minutes or so.

The jobs we do are very much a team effort. Although the company does push each individual in a competitive manner, if half of the team is slacking then the other half need to pick up that slack or the job will run a lot longer. 99% of the jobs do not have a specific finishing time, meaning, you could count a store and finish at 8pm after a 5 hour shift, but you could do the same store 6 months later and finish at 8am after a 17 hour shift. That being said, you see so many people disappearing for 30 minute breaks (paid), people sitting down talking to others, people "cherry-picking" the easiest areas to help their bonus... but nothing is ever actually done about it all. Meaning, you either pick up their slack and get no gratitude from anybody for it, or you join them. This job requires hard workers... but it's also an ideal place for lazy workers too, just pretend like you're working and you'll be fine.

So many jobs have had times changes at the last minute. A 7pm start can easily change to a 9pm start and you wont be told until 6:30pm. A 7pm start could also become a 5pm start and you're not told until a couple of hours before... and bear in mind, if you don't bend over backwards and do it you can be penalised for it. Also be aware, that this may not be a formal penalty, but you could be given less hours, harder areas to work and just a lot of negative attitude from the management. Message the Area Manager or District Manager and 80% of the time there will be no response, unless they need something. I've given them well over 24 hours to respond to messages on plenty of occasions only to be ignored the majority of the time, but also, to get a response only an hour or two before they expect me to drop everything and do what they want.

If you're somebody that likes to sleep and wake at certain times, say goodbye to any reasonable sleeping pattern. Some jobs start at 6pm, some start at 4am (plus every time between), some finish at midnight whereas others finish at midday (after doing a 20 hours shift). They will expect you to do multiple jobs each week, half could be morning starts and the other half evening starts. You're welcome to send availability in stating what days/times you're not available - however, and this was once told to me by my Area Manager himself, they will generally ignore it in the hope that you don't speak up and question it... remember, they want mindless robots doing exactly as they are told, when they're told.

In terms of colleagues, they're varied. Some are nice, some are absolutely horrid human beings, some are memorable for various reasons, some are purely "workers" - they came to do a job and go home, nothing more (no problem with them). But regardless of the sort of person you are, as long as you suck up to the supervisors and managers and gain their favour, you'll get away with everything and anything. That all being said, the only positive I can give for RGIS are some of the people I have worked with over the years, even then, out of the 100s I have worked with, I can count the people I enjoyed working with on my two hands.

Don't think that my gripes are purely blamed on the Area and District manager, they're not. This is an RGIS problem. I have dealt with the head of HR before, people at head office before and some other high up people, and I've found that each and every one of them has been as useless as the next. Although, it there's ever anything that needs sweeping under a rug, they are extremely qualified and efficient at that.

If you decide to still join RGIS, just keep your wits about you and don't believe anything you're offered unless it is written down on paper and signed. The management will feed you with so many empty promises just to keep you going until they can hire a new batch of recruits.

In a nut shell, RGIS has failed and continues to fail at hiring the correct people for the job. When they finally hire somebody that is good at the job, they fail to properly incentivise them and ultimately lose them. In the past year or so alone, I have seen at least 90% of our top end counters quit for various reasons. A fair few of whom told me if the pay was there, they would have stayed.

Lastly, this is a big warning. RGIS is not a self-reliant company. RGIS provides a service for clients, most of whom are high street retailers, a lot of whom keep shutting down. The more of those that shut down, the less clientele there are to service. Also, with RFID becoming more and more commonplace and relied on, there will be even less clientele for RGIS. If you want a job with longevity, this is not for you. If you're after a job for a few months and don't really have a social life to worry about, could be for you.

Worked as a manager at the Stevenage Office. First of all I will start with the pay as this is mostly important to most! as a manager unless you’re on a salary which is rarely the occasion, you will start of on roughly £13 an hour, then if you drive even as a manager your pay will drop down to around £8.50 once you’re driving. But this is only informed to you once you’ve accepted the job.  

If you’re not driving to the job you won’t get paid until starting the job (ie) scanning products, so let’s say the journey is 6 hours only the driver will be paid for that duration, regardless if you’re a counter or manager! 

If you’re applying for a manager role You will be a counter/manager, this wasn’t explained to me in the interview and was only explained that I would be counting with the counters when I started the job at the store! 

The company is a 100% profit company and do not care about the staff in my opinion! 

The hours are long roughly my shifts consisted of around an 11am start; because I was one of very few drivers I would have to pick up other counters from pickup locations. Once the job was completed I would then drive back and drop off all members of staff at their home location! This meaning most of the time I was getting home well after 3am the next day and starting it all again! 

So you can imagine how tired you would get doing this around 5-6 days a week! I’m am ex military and used to working ridiculous hours but this place is ridiculous! 
Plus if any damage occurs to the company vehicles you/ the driver will have to pay that damage yourself. 

So lets you say you’re out of the house and travelling to jobs and you’re out of the house for 60 hours, but you don’t drive and you’ve only counted for 40 hours you will only be paid for the 40. 

Company’s discipline procedures are a joke, one driver drove multiple times under the influence of alcohol! Despite several reports from other managers and staff, it was only decided after several occasions to remove him from driving!! Absolute joke!! And a fact!! 

The company runs its drive/mentality on a book called “four obsessions of an extraordinary executive” I personally find this funny, as it’s about running an successful company and how to achieve it on a book that’s not even based on a true story!! It’s a Fiction book. 

The bonus of working for the company is that the team you work with literally are the only people holding that place together!! Some really good people and SOME good managers that are team players!! But most of them want to leave. Apart from that I strongly advise you if you have a career path already set or a job with a salary I honestly strongly discourage you from joining this company!  

If you’re a counter you’re on a zero hour contract. 

Managers contracted hours range from 20-30 hours unless Salary. 

I left on good terms and gained a job where I could in fact have a life once again. 

This is just a honest review of the company.

Where to begin? Let's start with the pay: You earn minimum wage, plain and simple. You will not get a raise for working hard. If you hit above your APH targets, you will progress to the next level. Which means nothing. All that happens is your minimum target increases so it forces you to work harder for the exact same amount of pay. You do get travel pay but it's only after you have been traveling in the van for an hour. 
After you get to the store, you will typically work for an hour or two and, most of the time, they will send you on a three hour (unpaid) break. So you end up being at work for 8 hours, only getting paid for five. 
They also have a history of not paying you as much as they should, as they are constantly trying to save money. Don't expect to live comfortably with this job.

Now to the hours: The hours are beyond rough. Sometimes we start at 4am. Other days they make us come in at 8pm and we don't end up finishing until 6am. The kicker? If you have a shift booked for the day you finish on, they still expect you to make it. Whether it's an hour after you finish, they will expect you to go straight from the store to the next shift. Because apparently they don't understand the concept of sleep. 

Finally, the staff: Most of the people who work for RGIS are fantastic. They are down to earth, friendly and just all-round good people. 
The supervisors are another story. While some of the supervisors are great, there are a few who seem to hate all of their employees and will treat you like DIRT. This is probably the biggest downside to working at RGIS. I would happily work everyday without sleep, for minimum wage, if it meant not working with certain supervisors. And this is not an unpopular opinion. Everyone else hates them too and they know it. A lot of people have just refused to work with them anymore and I completely understand. 

In conclusion, this is not a long-term job and it is not a good job. If you have absolutely no other options, then go for it. But everytime I show up for work, I contemplate quiting because the jobcentre pays just as much, for the same amount of humiliation and much fewer hours. 

I hope the RGIS suits read this because they need a wake up call.

My current role as Customer Service Administrator is to be responsible for providing administrative support to management and for coordinating all office functions, assists with the scheduling of inventories, dealing with all customer request and miscellaneous support functions. 

• Responsible for ensuring inventories are scheduled timely and accurately using the in-house Oracle system and Excel. 
• Manage the planning of stock takes dates between customer, the district offices wisely and to the requirement of customer. 
• Produces and files correspondence, reports and other documents. 
• Assembles, tabulates, calculates and maintains reporting and data as required. 
• Maintains professional working relationship with customers, districts, satellite office, account managers and accounts department. 
• Professional image is projected and maintained with customer. 
• Performs special projects and other duties as assigned. 
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality when planning the stock takes and deal with any issue faced by customer and the stocktaking team. 
• Apply common sense understanding and use appropriate judgment in solving any issues in day to day task, in routine business situations and maintains business ethics at all times with supervisors, co-workers and customers. 
• Interact appropriately and create a good working relationship with customers. 
• Analyze and deal with problems involving several concrete variables in routine business situations on any inventory schedule for the customer. 
• Learn and improve the knowledge of in-house ORACLE database.

As in the beginning I can define work in this distric D791. One of the main clients of this company is TESCO. This is the so-called zero contract with no social working hours starting from very early morning hours as well as late night hours. Based on your availability during the week you get a weekly or 2 week pseudo work plan that contains data about the store. If you do not declare it in a certain time, you will not receive any hours. If you confirm the schedule, you will not get a guarantee that you will be working in this place. All your employment consists of doing a favor by supervisors and managers that you will receive a shift in the store they will supervise during the item count. Management is very bad can not deal with all employees does not motivate them to cooperate, everyone is against you because of the huge rotation and every day you work with other people. Salary is a mockery. Rises if they are predicted are very miserable, they cause more laughter than joy. During the year there are many days without work Easter and Christmas. The lack of the aforementioned motivation also reflects the fact that the system of penalties for employees for the so-called no-show is ineffective. Employees are not burdened with the company, therefore, despite the confirmation of their availability, they do not come to work, they do not receive telephone calls as well as text messages. I worked with WIS for about 4 months stock taking, and as the pandemic hit, for 2 months+ I started working with the Asda branch support which I actually enjoyed. First of, I actually enjoyed working for WIS and I liked the work, but as soon as you've been working for a couple of months you soon realise just how un-organised of a company it really is, even if you work hard and at a steady pace, if you're not management or someone of higher power, you are treated with little to no respect most of the time, and they have a big problem with how pay works, and being a company such as its self you wouldn't think this wouldn't be an issue, some weeks I would work a set amount of hours and expect the correct amount of money for hours worked, but when it came to pay day it would sometimes be half the amount expected, at a rate of £8.72 an hour and hours varying 8-10 hours, for 2 weeks you'd be expecting around £600-£700 give or take and not taking into account extra hours worked, but most of the time it was more like £250 every 2 weeks, and that doesn't add up to any half smart person. Also you're away from family a lot making these problems ever much worse, just not worth it at all. Overall my complete experience with this company was horrendous, i would only recommend to people who are completely desperate for cash, as the interview is very easy and you're almost guarenteed the job as long as you don't have a few brain cells missing.

They are not the worst company to work for the staff and management are there for you and staff are helpful.you have to go to a meet site and get picked up the first hour of travel from meet site is not paid to the site u are going to and u have to sign in and out when u get there and for breaks.u don't know how many hours u are going to work and breaks can be up to a hour and half so lefted twicking yours thumbs miles from home and no pay for this time.its fortnight pay and they drop u off near your home.its a fast way of working and mind numbing as counting and scannering is all u do and they monitor u through the scanner on the computer the supervisors are operating u have a app which tells u the next day how you preformed and gives you a ranking and the training sessions are based around being fast on the scanner not how to operate it which is a failure on the management level and they can cancelled your work day a hour before u start so work life balance is very unfair. U have to be dressed properly if not u can be told to go home. I worked with them for 3 months and don't have any disagreement with the company.there is movement to management level but you need to be able to drive and willing to work very long hours.and be available all the time.

I'm so sick of working for this company it's disgusting you have to chase weekly to make sure you're paid right, you get treated like garbage no matter what position you're in if you magically do good like I did at the start with zero training they put heaps of pressure on you & it's not like it's a hard job you literally scan.. the scanners are awful & barely work half the time..but you don't get paid for travel unless it's over 100 miles & it's like 80p a mile after that so 101 miles is 80p... I'm sick of this company.. it's awful and I would not recommend it to my worst enemy. We just had a s3xual harassment case and only one of the three have been sacked it's disgusting and I want no part of it I will leave & advise the poor victim to go to the police, crooked company only bothered about protecting their image over health & wellbeing..I got put on double sometimes triple shifts & when I'd complain about pain they'd say "think of the hours" disgusting people who don't care about you only care about "team green" which gets the managers a bonus and will cut your hours to achieve it...I am done

You'll be employed on zero hour contract therefore some weeks you'll have lots of work, others little to none.
You can be scheduled onto jobs at late notice & they don't like it if you can't work due to prior commitments. You are expected to be at their beck & call.
You will work very long hours, sometimes with short or no breaks at all.
You will be expected to work back to back shifts if business necessitates.
Tiredness will be an issue due to long hours & not enough down time in between.
You'll spend long days in a van travelling to & from jobs which you won't be paid for.
Your salary will often be wrong - work 8hrs but only paid for 4 & good luck trying to get money rightfully yours paid to you.
Some supervisors clearly have little experience working with teams - you are shouted at & belittled. They are a source of gossip & very demotivational. Some untidy & smelly supervisors.
Organisation of jobs/people is severely lacking.
Senior management do not care about their staff so long as the job gets done but are on your back if you can't make a shift for genuine reasons.
Most stock takes are guessed/blagged on the whole, so you don't need any qualifications or experience to get a job here, they will take anyone.

Dont worry about counting because they will fix the numbers to make it all look correct

management - extremely poor

productivity can be fast if every one pulls there weight 

long drives and stood for long periods of time 

you will be signed out for the smallest of things 

watch your pay as you will be under paid 

write down your hours from the moment you start to the moment you finish

if you refuse to get into company car due to not feeling safe with the person driving you will be signed out from shift and you will lose shifts the next week 

be very mindful of what you say around the management  

dont complain because you will lose shifts

this company will not tell you when you start but get signed up with a union rep as you WILL need one 

remember that you are disposable and this company have no problem with making that known to you 

make sure you get life insurance before getting into a car with certain drivers 

pay is very poor and the holiday pay is worked out by your average hours from the last 6 weeks worked you should only book holiday after a busy period at work other wise you will only earn about £20 per day if your lucky 

make sure you get in the warehouse you will get away with everything
