The said warehouse manager is the worst person who could be at the head of such a large work environment. He does not really care about the health and safety of employees unless it is to demonstrate to visitors and to enhance his ego that is no greater than his incompetence in understanding the needs of employees. Today we are just another number. The provocation and falsehood that some employees are treated daily is only less than the bullying and stress that we are subjected to. The protection of those who bow their heads in relation to the manager's absurd ideas is disgusting and makes clear discrimination against those who do not submit to him. We are being forced to work twice as much due to the inability of the office team to understand how to effectively execute their profession, which today seems to be nothing more than provoking and infuriating the employee. 
Every day there is something new, but it is not something new good but a new freak. The way requested by the manager to accommodate the incoming stock proves that for him it is much easier to order new spaces in the warehouse than to order less product, some products are already occupying more space than requested and even so we have to do it the way the manager asked. And if it’s not done the way he told you to, wait until the next day to find out the way he’s going to punish you ... it varies between verbally, provocatively, taking away your right to smoke a cigarette, asking you to perform more than a task at the same time, the possibilities are endless... better stop here before there is no more space, oh yes just one more thing, someone needs to take action and urgently.

Drove SIG  via agentcy for 2.5 yrs . AT start  ok 0630/7am-   1500-1600pm fin . 3 full local loads aday, bristol  or 5  drops  post code area  ie  TA, BS , BA, GL .  TRANSPORT MANAGER CREW fair people under lot pressure . THEN  october  2019   REstructure  route planning  introduced  PDA system  to replace delv notes . There own  drivers got  4 hours proper traing on them, us agentcy  guys just got A4 double sided sheet instruction told get on with it . ALSO   route planning changed  often got  @ drops  down country lanes   barley   6ft wide   10ft overhang trees , ur vechile   32 ton 8 wheeler  14ft high 9 ft wide  28 ft long with out moffett.   . YET had   3.5ton curtain side/ vans in yard . DOES no one PLANNERS CHECK GOOGLE MAPS  B4 SENDING LOAD OUT ???..  Have ring customer   no mobile phone supplied  see if they can meat you transship  if say few bags plaster, sheets celoex . if not  ring sales rebook smaller vechile . PAY  based 44 hours salary    lot own guys  £22.880 yr /44 hours mon-fri    APPROX   £10 hour   inc   using moffett.   US agentys paid hours   DONT USE  moffett . CULTURE   Target/ sales motivated lack communication  between  passed on to driver ref delv points instruction  via  sales  .  Drops increased from 3-5 day to    4- 8 day ,   hours 0630am - 1630 pm  IF fast pace  target motivated  younger driver t then maybee the job for you. IF your older driver  steady day maybee not .  DUE to restructure  2019   incoming   PDA   system not steady job it was . Tyipical   PLC    public, limited company .  PROFIT 1 PRIORITY .

SIG has given me the opportunity to expand my current knowledge and meet with lots of lovely people. Working for the company taught me valuable lessons about teamwork, and how to work under pressure to strict deadlines. I improved both my technical and interpersonal skills during the months of my employment, and I got to work on various tasks that proved to be of a great value to the business.
The management is excellent and friendly. My colleagues are very sociable as well. None of them have ever denied me any help whilst I was in process of learning their systems. In return I have assisted them with various jobs on several occasions.
The most enjoyable part of working for SIG was making friends whilst keeping on top of the work load. Working in various teams on the company's biggest project - the integration of their new system, helped me advance my technical skills, and improve my attention to detail. It brought me closer to my managers and my colleagues. And I found myself becoming a valuable team member. It also helped me gain better confidence in my own work and abilities.
The hardest part of the job was staying focussed in situations when bad communication within the team becomes an obstacle. And although it has only happened on several (rare) occasions, it has proven to be the most difficult challenge that working in a team can bring, preventing even the easiest tasks of running smoothly.

I personally worked at SIG for 13 years. Initially it was a great place to work, but ever since the challenges of 2008 the business made poor decisions which have rippled into today. 

The new management structure grossly underestimate the influence that people in senior branch roles had and whilst short term gains will be made from cost cutting, the medium terms plans will fail because of the loss in experience. To put it bluntly, they picked up all the bad ideas of the old regime and have headed towards large distribution centres, where it's has been proven in Leeds, Manchester, and Newcastle you can't get the return on sales where you want because of the lack of control in super depots. Inward looking, idealists in the business will have you believe they know what the customer wants, but reality amd research suggests that customers in our industry don't travel over 15 miles to collect and they don't trust the service from branches not in the same town, this makes the job difficult when you see the closure plans they have put to action and will continue to make in 2019.

Bonus chasing CEOs have totally ruined this once great organisation and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone as a good place work.

Having worked for this company for a number of years I’ve slowly seen the decline in terms of moral, benefits and working practices. Earlier this year they conducted a review of company cars and a large number of employees had their cars taken off them as they didn’t meet the 10,000 mile business mileage limit at the time the review was taken place we were informed that a further review of employee company car drivers business mileage would be undertaken in September and anyone failing to meet the threshold would have their car taken off them. But guess what as usual this has not happened (they talk the talk but never follow through). There are I suspect a number of car drivers that have failed to reach the required threshold to retain their car yet they have not had them taken away “where’s the review promised SIG management, if you implement a policy you should enforce it.”

Senior management only look for a quick fix to reduce costs and once done no further action is taken. This once very profitable and fun place to work has now descended into a joke with senior management cost cutting and carving up the business just to fudge the figures in order to make it look like it’s being run effectively. 

I would not recomend SIG as a place to work to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have worked for this company before for 2 years. If you have no choice then take the job but I strongly recommended you prioritise in other opportunities or offers given before taken anything up with SIG CARPET AND FLOORING! They lie and management continuously make broken promises! You never get paid accurately to the hours you have done I.e overtime or sometimes they just pay you short a couple hundred quid and put it back the next month or month after that or month after that! You work Saturdays included in your salary and is a conetely dead end road with no future! Management do nothing just sit there in the office. Holidays are taken off you at short notice and they can send you to other branches at short notice to cover short staffed warehouses! In all honesty they are awfully run and managed you don't get paid enough for the work and hours put in! When I was there I was promised bonus each month every time we hit our target! We hit the target many times and no bonus ever was seen or mentioned! Also a lot of staff have left the company within the last 6 months includin g sales reps as the company is so far off from its competition! Good luck

worked here 11 years all the staff were quite close knit all got on and worked together including Managers. Initially liked working here no pressure from managers as we all worked well got our jobs done. Completed training for forklifts, cps and general health and safety pretty good that way. Salary not the best. Then some where along the line the powers that be decided to move operations to Manchester T1. This lead to a loss customers and an onslaught of complaints late delivery, not turning up at all, leaving our sales staff to deal with the complaints. They shut the branch down 12 months ago loosing a lot of experience. they then opened a trade counter, sales and collections point in Huyton, spent money doing a building up then shut that this year. T1 not working, no one cares about the company going down hill. Top managers seem to be doing nothing no one wants take charge of the place. A couple profit warnings investigations for Irregular accounting (as in financial times and the mail) how long can it last. Its like we paid the price for other peoples incompetence. Someone needs to get the company back on track.

The banter between us keeps us laughing and employees are given a lot of freedom to be just who they are, without pressure to perform. Some customers enjoy a natter on the phone, too.
Management is approachable and understanding, although they can come across as slightly secretive, which is not uncommon of management by my experience.
As part of the insulation team (6 persons) one of the busiest UK branches, we're constantly picking up the phone and answering emails, processing orders on the specialist software, forming quotations, corresponding with departments within the branch and external parties. Any desired support is provided for fulfilling the role, but no structured training is offered. "You learn as you go". Due to shortcomings of the software as well as human error, orders frequently don't go to plan. The work culture is therefore forgiving of mistakes and as we're dealing with individuals of the building industry, just as in pub work, a something of their social culture rubs off.

A day at work was very depressing. Several directors would ask for conflicting information immediately because someone asked them for it. No one would use this information. Endless meetings because people didn't want to make decisions in case it made them look bad. No decision is a good decision in SIG culture. Senior management are dissociated from the business to the point of autism. They literally have no idea about any aspect of the business whatsoever. 

The culture fetishised "presenteeism" beyond belief. If you are there early and stay late then you are director material in the eyes of the clueless management. Nothing is done on results, only if you are sitting at a desk looking into space. No ones cares about you. No one cares about anything. The mismanagement, redundancies and restructuring will ensure that this company will issue a profit warning in October time and then it will be broken up into the least worst assets being bought for a song and the rest thrown into the rubbish bin.

i started in 2018 as a driver for a 20 yr old i was on a good wage for the time i felt looked after as time has moved on they have widdled me down to minimum wage is so low you cant even use the internal work benefits system ( where you can do extra days holiday, cycle to work , private health care, dental ect ect) as it says it will put you under the minimum wage bracket and they would be breaking the law,

you are invisible to upper management they wont talk to you at all even if you address them they will give closed off responses on visits,

when I said I was leaving due to pay i felt shunned and ignored even caught abuse off of a higher member of management in my final days, 

honestly i had good times with this company the team i work with is like a second family to me and there is a good workplace banter ( sometimes go too far but you get that in a merchants really) i have had good times with this company i just got tired of no advancement in my life.
