I started off working for M & Co. warehouse at Inchinnan under Allstaff at first, was minimum wage but i didn’t have far to drive, the staff seemed alright and I got on well with the agency. Then Single Resource took over and it went pretty much downhill from there.

All five of the on-site agency representatives that have been present during the years I have been working there have all been Polish like as if it was a requirement. Due to this over 80% of the staff they bring in are Polish. Making communication difficult with other staff and giving the place an intimidating atmosphere for me and the few Brits that work there.

I made a complaint against one of the polish workers because she randomly shouted at me because she was listening to too many rumors about what I “supposedly” said or done and on retaliation made a false story up and put a complaint towards me for stalking her. This was done so she wouldn’t have to explain her schizophrenic anger problems and the two muppets representing Single Resource on that site took her every word for it without any evidence due to them coming from the same country as her…..

Another women was left in charge of agency workers for a period and she was a nightmare to work for. Besides the fact that I got constantly bullied by her due to this false accusation that I am a stalker, she gets into fits of rage when people are making criticism of the company or anything else that doesn’t please her. She constantly misplaces holiday forms and threatens that if you don’t make another one for her you won’t get a holiday as if you’re the one to blame for her incompetence. She takes a good few days to answer back your text messages or doesn’t answer at all yet gives you grief if you don’t answer her texts back within 24 hours…
She also lies about the amount of paid holidays that people have got yet when they come back from their holidays they find out that less than half of it was paid (I think this was intentional to save the company money).
I made complaints to both M&Co. and the agency’s corporate office for her bullying yet they all seem to just back her up like as if she can do no wrong and any other complaints you make to supervisors of their clients are automatically ignored as they obviously don’t want to ruffle the feathers of their customers that pay them money.

Mostly all the Polish seem to be the ones that are getting the most shifts, permanent positions, promotions or the half-decent jobs with no targets regardless how good my productivity or any other British was. All they seem to care about is taking care of the Poles and I wouldn’t be surprised if they went to a 3rd party that specialises on providing Polish workers before they looked up whoever applied through whatever jobsites they advertised on.
I’m not saying Brexit is either right or wrong but when you come to work for agencies like Single Resource you will know why people voted to leave.

Due to the ordeal I had with the stalking accusation, I had to deal with depression and have got low confidence speaking to other people as I was picked on by a lot of supervisors and managers who looked at me as a troublemaker and the agency doesn’t seem bothered about investigating any complaints made by any of the workers who actually earn them the money yet when a manager says something about you it’s taken as a fact.

I'm just glad to be out of that place for good and pity anyone that's from this country that starts with them.


The job is easy but it all depends on what you’re doing as the targets they set are quite high and all depends what boxes you pick up for packing, sometimes you can reach the target easy sometimes you can’t, if you’re one of the favourites you will get given the good boxes so then you can reach the target quicker and do less work then the ones that actually work hard!
If you’re a English guy that just gets on with his work you get no appreciation at all and you will be bottom of the list, but If you’re a English guy that doesn’t work as hard and likes to talk then you’re be fine, if you’re a English female you’re be fine, if you are from another country then you will be the managements favourite people as they seem to only really like people from other countries especially if you are female, you will be given the best experience ever even if you are not very good at your job or you talk all the time nothing will be done, basically if you’re a quiet English guy you have to work 100 time’s harder then everyone else to get any sort of recognition but then you still won’t get any. I don’t know what the morning and afternoon shifts are like but the night shifts are really bad for this.
There are the management favourite people if they do something wrong nothing gets done, I’ve seen so many people have a go at management and they still get loads of chances.
They say at the interview that they take drugs very seriously but on night shifts there are quite a few people that come on stoned and even if they smell of drugs nothing gets done about it. Management seem to not care that they have staff that go in stoned/high.
If you know you are very good at your job they still get the same people to train people which are there favourites.
At the interview I was asked how good is my English, which I assumed would be asked at everyone’s interview but there are quite a few people that can’t understand English at all and when they speak to you then they don’t understand what you are trying to say!
Basically if you are a quietEnglish guy that likes to work I wouldn’t recommend this job but if you foreign then you’re be in the management good books straight away!
The single resource management that run the night shift are very useless they don’t care about anything and one of the ladies seems to just want to have an argument with everyone and she isn’t a very nice lady. The other lady that works on night shift doesn’t do anything apart from walk around all night and talk to her favourites.

Working for Superdrug distribution centre in Pontefract  as a Motive Order picker through onsite agency Single Resource Ltd.Start of shift go collect ride on truck then visit the office for your first order.Swipe order in machine which tells u how long you have to complete it,Could be one two three or four cages full and your times are set accordingly.If the pick required two cages then u would assemble them and transport them around the warehouse on the ride on truck.The racking is a one way system and pick locations are clearly marked but you need to concentrate at all times because it is easy to mispick just by the nature of the job.Some picks can last half an hour and some two hours depending on each individuals speed and of course the size of the order.If you are fast and accurate then you can attain high percentage but I always stayed around the fifty percent mark which was OK for a new starter.Even though everyone was under pressure due to the time limits to reach their targets there was still a pleasant atmosphere to work in and plenty of laughs as well.There was an equal mix of local people and foreigners who worked well together.When you have completed your pick the cages must be left in the appropriately numbered line to then go on to a trailer for delivery.Agency coordinator was hands on very helpful and would show you by checking your order just how easy it was to pick the wrong item as he did with me.All health and safety is adhered to and taken seriously but Motive pickers and Reachtrucks do come into close contact as part of each others jobs.

Where shall I begin...?
The actual job is easy. Despite the targets being unnecessarily changed near the end of my time working at this horrendous company, the job is very simple. However, in the grand scheme of things, the job is not THATTT important.. I mean no one's life is on the line and you would think a little bit of chat and laughter would make the very dull atmosphere a brighter one. You would be wrong. This chat and laughter is not appreciated at all, instead criticised, and as for the atmosphere... well, I have never been to prison, but it is worse than I imagine that to be! The language barrier between some of us staff and the management is evidently an issue, hence the constant need for my talking and laughing to be silenced. I am bemused as to how the men in charge ever received those roles and even more baffled as to how they have kept them.. absolutely no people skills, inaqequate levels of English to be managing people and incompetent of making decisions. The HR team are very questionable too, with a lot of unnecessary relaying of pointless information and very late texts about work the following day. The priority should be to get the job done. If I am doing that, why am I constantly being moved and told off for talking... their priorities are ALL wrong! 
To conclude, I simply could not recommend you to avoid this company and job AT ALL COSTS if you have any kind of personality! 

I've started with single resources have about two weeks, right before black friday, we all know that is a busy time for packing and picking but, they threat us if we don't attend to a COMPULSORY over time, also, they made us sign a paper(i don't because my name wasn't on the list) that we will attend all days, this will be 5 days at a week, 12 hours shift, 60 hours per week, but that's not all, they don't have this amount of work, don't have enough stations for work, if we talk to the supervisors they just don't care but they push you at the limit.
Today i didn't attend the OVERTIME, because my shift isn't today, they call me asking why i wasn't there, asking if i didn't received the message saying that i was booked for today's work, but here come's the funny part, they force us to work but they cancel shifts as they want, workers colleagues changed all they're schedules just to work for then and they just cancel, but have a good explanation, after 48 hours they pay the double, that's why they just cancel this shifts.
Resuming all, this is the WORST company i've ever worked for, and if have any law in England, the government should investigate this company, the overtime is choosable, not mandatory. 


you find out at 12 noon each what your hours are for the next day. you can have your shift cancelled an hour before you start depending on workload. you get allocated a workspace on arrival, and it can change several times a day depending on how well the supervisors have organised things. this is a difficult physical job, and the management seem to go out of there way to make the job more stressful and unpleasant. they go through so many staff and its clear to see when you work there. the supervisors have there favorites and allow them extra leeway to work less than others, and the work gets passed onto the harder more concientious workers. they state H&S rules, but do not look after the staffs physical well being. height of pallets overly high. overloading of pallets. poorly packed cages that can collapse on a different builder. the job is target based on 95 items an hour, and very many staff pay no attention or care about how the cages are built, or the condition of the product being sent to the supermarkets.

The general consensus amongst the majority of the staff working here is that the management communication leaves a lot to be desired. Due to the nature of the work, the staff needs vary daily meaning that the initial expectation of a full time job can be as little as 2 shifts a week. Whist the advert states it’s a flexible contract, at no time in the recruitment session are you told what it means in terms of the amount of hours that are offered each week.

When the client states that work volumes are expected to be low, the workforce aren’t told this and simply receive a text to say you’re not needed. For those needing a consistent income it’s unfair to treat people this way.

The staff turnover is very high which perhaps provides the strongest warning regarding the employment with Single Resources.

Having said this, for some people the flexible hours is beneficial and the management are generally OK to work with.



I wasn't told it was temp work during my interview, there was minimum to no management as when I said in interview I had exams and would need days off I was told it was fine and then when I left for that time I was constantly harassed as to why I wasn't there and I kept explaining and was hung up on once after saying I was on holiday time. 
There was blatant sexism for both men and women and when my partner, who also worked there, was doing the choosing between picker or packer, they outright said there were to be only men doing picking and women on packing. At the end of the sale time for the warehouse, they stopped giving shifts to myself and partner as an excuse to fire us after a month. However, I still get texts every two weeks or so trying to get me to work for them again, which I haven't stopped only because it's amusing to us now. Also, the shoes they provide at the start (steel cap) was not in my size which was very difficult for me to wear.

Keep in mind that whenever they offer bonuses of £50 when working 8 days (or whatever number) consecutively during busy periods, it is extremely unlikely this is going to happen. From my personal experience, I was working 7 days and for the last day they will cancel your shift, so that they will NOT give you any bonus. As far as I know this happens with other agencies like quest, staffing match, nexus, mach, so if you are looking for a temporary job and you are fine with this, go for it. Another thing they tend to mention is getting higher rates for working on bank holidays, but like happened to me, I was sent home after doing 4 hours, so basically it wasn't really a benefit and this wasn't going to help my salary. Overall, nice experience for short period of time, but I suppose it becomes stressful when management starts stressing employees out about achieving targets. Poor communication and organisational skills from staff in the office.

Rock bottom pay, rude and uncommunicative, they speak to you like you owe them a favour for the job . Holidays entitlement is a joke and the way they get you in is wrong , all lies . If your face doesnt fit you know about it .
Unprofessional to text saying you will be let go in a week but still expect you to turn up for pittance , even more unprofessional to give (me ) 20 minutes notice on a Fri I had no job on the Monday - battled for weeks for my outstanding monies and offered a job at another site well over an hours travel in a cold warehouse on that salary - are they for real ???
Funny though my job is now being advertised and how unprofessional is it that everyone knows before the person that is leaving ?? They need to learn confidentiality but they dont care as long as they are charging stupid monies to the company that in my opinion that uses them are as stupid as them. And then they wonder why people have no company loyalty anymore ??
