This job consist of house keeping, consumer experience, CRM,  building new potential relationship whilst maintaining existing, business development, business analysing, target driven, adhering to brand focus, briefing the team, coaching team, stock management to be kept on top and visual merchandising guidelines. 

You work closely with the area manager to make sure your account is operating to meet set targets and drive commercial awareness. You will get regular visits from head office all over the world such as USA, Europe, China so its important to keep on top of the account, the team and know the business inside out. It is also a pleasure when you get to meet the visitors as it makes you feel you are valued and your opinion matters to them so they can understand how well the front line operation is working reflecting their strategies. You also have to make sure you adhere to the store and department manager to make sure you have building that relationship with them to get support. 

Workplace culture is great, really enjoyed it as you meet great people along the journey and even though there are competitors from other stores, its all about working together as a big team in the city so the brand overall does not lose to an outside competitor. You drive the consumer to your brand only or sister brands if needed. 

Hardest part of the job is when your a manager, it is hard to satisfy everyone's needs. You must make sure you are on top of it with product knowledge, brand guidelines and coaching your team. Not every team member can be perfect when they begin. You have to work every Saturday as you are the key driver of the business and it isn't a 9-5 job. You must be flexiable and passionate to drive your business to its best.  

The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to make "every women look and feel beautiful" which is a mission of the late Estee Lauder herself when she first began her company and being able to give a high touch experience to every consumer that walks through the door whether they are new, passing by or regular return consumers. You meet some amazing people everyday and its about being consumer inspired, you build relationships with them and its nice when they purposely come to see you again for advice and know you by name. You know you have done your job and its a great feeling when that happens.

It was an OK place to work to begin with and you get a large mixture of people of all ages to work with. The work is easy to learn and while there are official targets to reach, this is realistic and easily achievable for even the less mobile people.

Unfortunately, a lot of changes occurred with management and there was a culture of people being offered work based on who they liked best rather than the people who are best at their jobs. The people the agency laid off was very erratic and sometimes they got rid of the good people and kept others who were subpar. As a result, there was a culture of always being unsure whether we'd be offered work the following week and no-one speaking up about bad practices in fear of not being offered any more work. Also, the company was very disorganised and many customers were given damaged products or boxes with the wrong items or missing items in. 

Health and safety was very lax and I ended up refusing work in the end due to having to spray cologne inside certain boxes when packing and with no adequate ventilation which resulted in us breathing an atmosphere of cologne all day which made me feel ill. I spoke up twice about this to management and was met with apathy and with the feeling that I was asking too much. No-one else spoke up but at the end of the day, I put my health before my job.

Both the agency and company were very opaque and kept us in the dark about our job-security. As a result, there were a lot of rumours spreading about about the direction the company was heading and it was really hard to know what was true and what was not.


Overall, this is a good place to work with a very friendly and supportive team environment. A typical day involves assisting customers, meeting sales targets, and maintaining store standards, which helps build strong product knowledge and confidence in customer service.
One of the best parts of the job is definitely the team and immediate management. My manager is very knowledgeable, approachable, and inclusive, which creates a positive and comfortable working atmosphere. I’ve learned a lot about customer interaction, sales techniques, and product knowledge during my time here.
However, there are some downsides. Higher management decisions, particularly around cutting hours, can make it difficult to have stability. The company does not offer full-time contracts, with most employees capped at around 30 hours, making it challenging if you’re looking for consistent full-time work. Overtime is also quite limited and not easy to get.
The rota can sometimes be inconsistent or harsh, which can affect work-life balance. In addition, there are limited benefits and fewer opportunities for progression within the company.
Overall, it’s a great place for gaining experience and working with a supportive team, but may not be ideal for those seeking long-term stability or full-time hours

Day to day job is easy and enjoyable. Its the extra bits demanded that are tedious and arduous to complete with no support or resources to do so. As they become part of your actual job there is no compensation for the extra work load. Work environment is dated and not fit for purpose so has become cluttered and can be difficult to find space to work. People are trying to change and upgrade but they are met with limited resources to do the job properly so important things are missed. Leading to processes not implemented properly or effectively, making the day job harder. The processes in place are out dated and have been patch improved when necessary instead of overhauling to modernize and be in keeping with other manufactures.
Wages aren't bad but are not reflective of the living wage for the area. 2 goody boxes a year and the staff discount on products is a lovely perk if you are a user of their brands. 
They are willing to facilitate growth and development within the role but there are little to no Jnr management positions to progress too. 
There is a great diversity of people working here. The people I've worked with directly are lovely and go above and beyond for their job. 
Overall its been a bit disappointing working here but people are a joy and if you can just do your job its easy money.

Driving retail sales by motivating my team by leading by example. Developing my team via daily coaching. 
I have learnt an abundance of skills and experience since being with Aveda, an example of this is transitioning a concession account to wholesale. I have also broadened my vocabulary and confidence in dealing with difficult situations and managing unwanted behaviours and encouraged behaviours. 
Keeping my team motivated by engaging them and keeping them focused with goals/target involving friendly competition and ensuring working relationships are effective yet professional. 
The hardest part of my job is the pressure to deliver results in turnover from previous weeks, months and years. On the other hand I work well under pressure and believe pressure is a great thing for a team to gel and perform together. 
The most enjoyable part is to see my customers and knowing I have given them a shopping experience that they will remember setting an expectation. I also enjoy reviewing successes from results that have been achieved via hard work and team work. I highly enjoy developing my team members knowing that I have moulded them into their future roles. Since being Business Manager I have developed 3 members of staff from Advisors to Assistant Business Managers.

The most enjoyable part of my job is working closely with my regular customers, at Estee Lauder we pride ourselves in making our customers look and feel more beautiful and with our great products and my makeup expertise I completed this successfully each day at work. I have also learned to manage people and a small team I have trained them in every aspect of the job but most importantly giving first class customer service. I love to work at part of a team I would plan events on counter and create activity with my consultant and set goals to achieve targets I get lots of satisfaction by planning and completing targets. I am highly motivated and pro active but the hardest part of my job was when the store would be particularly quiet and there would be a low foot fall of customers I had to get out there and make the most of that negative situation and be pro active. A typical day for me at work would be to plan my goals and achieve whatever target I had set myself and my team, have appointments booked and sit my customers down always approaching new customers and building my client profile.

The company to work for was very rewarding. A typical day involved serving customers and giving them the best experience to try and buy as many items as possible. 

The management was some what supportive but did not get to see them or have my monthly update on success. I appreciate the lady who was in charge of me was in charge of lots of other stores but the communication was very poor. However whenever there was an issue within the work place they were there to support and resolve the issue quickly. 

The workplace was not great, the store I worked in was Boots Guildford and the store management were so unprofessional, did not have time for anyone and made you do jobs which you were not suppose to do. The Estee lauder work place culture was amazing the whole area were always in communication talking about each others successes. There was lots of support and training given on each product. 

The most enjoyable part was be working/dealing with the customers and giving them the outcome they wanted. The relationships you were able to build with the customers was great. 

Initially excited to gain a Work Area Manager (WAM) position at this prestigious company, I was quicky dissapointed!  Despite having daily meetings to add more & more KPI's to an already extensive list of daily measurements, there was no appitite to address the fundimental operational flaws; No SOP's leading to ill-thought out CAPA's - which more often than not negatively impacted the business elsewhere (..and the cycle repeats...). Replenishment of the pick lines was treated as an afterthought - despite being a main cause of pick errors.  Solutions offered up to Senior managers, but sadly fell on deaf ears.  They much preferred pointing the finger of blame, or adding yet more KPI's, rather than working colaboratively towards a robust CAPA.  When there I was one of 4 operational WAM's (Goods In, Pick, Pack, Despatch), but for some reason there were 4 Operations Managers (2 Senior) too - all with differing agendas! - enough said.  The Ops manager I reported into was simply out of his depth.  Terrible culture.  I had to leave after just 3 months - simply couldn't stand it. 

Estee Lauder is a great place to work. I have learned a great deal whilst at Estee Lauder. I have been a super power user whilst helping the company go through a successful implementation of the SAP system. I had to help test the system through 6 months of rigorous testing. Then teach the staff within the company how to use the system before going live. Then once live I was part of the trouble shooting team helping people to use the system and fix problems that would occur within the "hyper care " period. I have also learned that I work well under pressure and can handle hostile situations when they rarely occurred. My calm and welcoming approach has created great working relationships between my department and other departments we work closely with. The hardest part of my job is the Christmas period when the demand is very high and I have to plan and get the work processed ready for the warehouse to get out on time and accurately. The most enjoyable part of my job is the satisfaction of getting the ready on time for the warehouse to despatch to the stores in time for their launches.

A typical day at work involved preparing the counter & team for business making sure the counter and all the products on display were clean and the shelves were fully stocked to achieve the maximun of sales, making sure the team were up to date with their product knowledge to ensure we / they were all promoting brand awareness of estee lauder and any new product launches.

The most enjoyable part of my job was dealing with customers and knowing I made a difference to their day by changing their perception of what they expected from a beauty advisor, leaving perhaps with 1 / 2 products and just enough information to want to return to the counter on another day remembering my name.

The hardest part of my job was dealing with staff who were not passionate, seen the customer as an inconvience to there tea break / lunch time, and gave customer service at cash and wrap level. what I learned most was it's important to be a friendly and approachable manager but not to be there friend.
