This is a practically a call centre, remember that before applying.

A typical work day involves saying the same thing over and over. The role is very robotic, and you are practically expected to be a robot.
If you are a few minutes late for something beyond your control you can be chastised, but when it's the end of your shift it's ok for you to be dealing with a customer 5 minutes after you should have finished,  you don't get that time back.

Shift patten is 5 in 2 off, days off change each month, 1 month it could be Tuesday and Wednesday, next Friday Saturday.

The alarm receiving centre is often referred as the beating heart of the company, the company cannot work without it, yet it is the most understaffed department in the company. Try explaining that to a customer when they have been broken in to, and we didn't respond untill 10/15 minutes later, you can see some examples this on X, we are failing the customers and it is very disheartening.

Once you have past probation, you become eligible fir the monthly bonus, to get this you'll need to meet certain targets.
One is alarm handling time, you are expected to deal with an alarm in under 3 minutes,  this some times isn't possible for example, you get a trigger, call the control panel to listen for a short time, speak to someone if there, they often don't understand, then you call the customers authorised list of contacts consiting of 2 or more people (some do have 10) twice and have to view videos and images the trigger sent aswell, some of the videos can be up 1 minute long, you can only watch them one at a time.  Plus type everything you've seen,said and been told in the log.
Because of this deal with alarm quickly culture, most staff are obsessed with their times, and skip though the videos to stay on target.  This has been proven to be extremely dangerous as stuff can be missed.  Yet it continues, and it is the company to blame as they are the one who implements this KPI

If you are someone who can't navigate a computer quickly ie an older generation you're unlikely to ever get a bonus, but you will be told some other person can do it, so you should be able aswell.  Not everyone can use a computer at lightning speed due to age or physical limitations, but the company can't or won't see that.
And as said  these who can meet the target these often cut corners.

Expect to hear the phrase, the needs of the company alot,  you will get told a lot of bull about how they believe in work life etc, but the needs of the company is paramount.

As part of the roll you can sometimes be put in what is called the beep seat.  These seats are part of the access control into the ARC, and can total up to 4 people doing it.
But one a busy day when there is multiple alarms in the queue 10 minutes behind, and staff from other departments in and out all the time and you're to log everyone who enters, another way we fail our customers, as this is a legal requirement we have to do.
I think some people forget the entry log is a legal document that can and will be seized by HSE if there was an major incident, and those keeping the log can be held liable for any discrepancies. Access control in to the arc should be a complete sperate role to allow others to deal with alarms.

Some of the people are ok, but the turnover for this department is depressing especially when the management team are told about issues and nothing gets done.

There is little to no advancement in the ARC, unless your face fits, this again will lead to people leaving for over departments. 

I was working at the Harrow Branch for a total of about 3 months before I had to get out of there.
In the interview and induction it all sounds great and promising because that’s how they make it come across, however when this is completed that’s when it goes downhill. First of all they don’t even give you a copy of your contract to keep, they just make you sign one and keep it to themselves which they probably edit every now and then to their according. I believe this is actually illegal, and I did mention this to them, but they just made excuses as to why we didn’t receive them. The hours are ridiculous, they expect you to work till 8-9pm sometimes even later after starting at 8am, especially when you have appointments with clients at their home address in late evenings. Also you have to use your own car for the first three months before you get a company car, and in those three months all the travelling done to clients addresses no matter where it is, and driving in and out of London and surrounding areas, the fuel is not paid for or covered at all. There is a lot of cold knocking involved, in fact that is what you are expected to do majority if not almost all the time. The conversation rate of actually getting a sale is very very low and can be quite demotivating no matter how hard I tried, and all the effort I put in. Also the base salary works very different and unfair as to what I have seen elsewhere. The base salary acts as a trigger, and you have to make enough sales to hit your trigger first, to then make more sales on top to earn any actual commission. With the conversion being so low already, this was extremely difficult to actually make any real significant money or commission, as you should be able to in a sales job. The management show no positive motivation at all. The management only care about the sales, they really don’t care about the employees or what they have to go through to get the sales, just as long as there is a sale made. Also when I left the company I was expecting a certain salary to come in, however when I was actually paid I was stolen of £1300 total of my commissions and hard work, because apparently I had to work an extra month and not leave when I did, just to be paid in full for the previous month! Doesn’t make sense at all as that month is done and I made my sales in that month. It should not be conflicting with the next month or the month after, and I tried my all to get them to give me my money but it was just delayed and delayed and they’d come up with a new excuse every time as to why I’m not getting my full money. Also it was incredibly hard to get in touch with them or HR as I had now left, and quite frankly they didn’t care anymore. Anyways, a good few months down the line and I’m still not paid for that money, and I have unfortunately given up because there was very little I could do. Also there is massive favouritism involved from the management in giving out appointments to the employees, which should be shared equally but this is not the case, lowering chances of making a sale for certain employees even more. There are more reasons as to why I would strongly advise getting in to this company and some really severe and illegal but it would be too much to write here. 

If I could give a 0 star rating I honestly would.

2 weeks ago the staff were held in a meeting and management demanded all staff leave 4 or 5 star indeed reviews. This was obviously company wide, as the rating has shot up since.

Where to start? The interview process is easy. I learned how some people do so well they bring home 5 figures in a month, how they aren't JUST commission based and how quickly you can climb their corporate ladder. The 3 day training is fun, but obviously if you've never done cold calling before it is not as useful as following someone who knows what they're doing. 

Then the problems start.

Team leadership is spotty, at best. Mine was constantly absent, getting sales for himself while I was driving his team round north London. My own petrol, parking costs and on two occasions tickets from parking where I was assured by him I should park. It cost over £300 of my own money in the first month. No worries, people earn well here, right? 

When you get a sale (after 2 days shadowing someone you later find out started a week before you, as your team leader is busy doing his own sales,) you have to do the "theatre call;" the armchair psychology trick of phoning your manager for a better price that all salesmen do. This seems exclusively designed to reduce the commission of new sales staff (one sale of mine dropped from over £400 commission to just £50 once my team leader had done his work.) Also every wage they mention is before tax. I took home £1095 in a month in which I hit all my targets and made an extra sale. 

Though the work looks flexible, you are expected to work all the time. One of the staff who had been there 9 months was told with 3 hours notice that if he didn't go to a lead on a Sunday afternoon he wouldn't have a job Monday. Other staff were constantly complaining that their wage slip was missing commission and had been for months. They dole out "warm leads" randomly, sending the new guys on the 8pm and Saturday leads and don't let you swap them.

The company clearly wants to whittle new staff down to the few who are either inexperienced enough not to have a problem or carefree enough to accept that some months you won't hit targets and will take home £800. The targets are ever changing, the commission structure convoluted. Warm leads come from asking people to fill out a survey online then calling them midway through and convincing them that they need a sales person to come round, then the company is surprised when people cancel.

Overall the work looks lucrative, but ultimately is not with your time. Before leaving I went through the pay of someone who'd done okay that month, and figured out his hours. He'd earned £6.45 an hour before tax that month.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The team leaders and branch team members were genuinely the best part of the job. Everyone in the branch was welcoming, supportive, and kind, and the people you work alongside day‑to‑day create a really positive atmosphere despite the wider issues in the company. Their warmth and willingness to help made the difficult parts of the role easier to get through.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part was having to work entirely for yourself despite being sold the idea of support and structure. You’re pushed to perform like a self‑employed salesperson, but without the transparency or stability that should come with that. On top of that, the commission structure was repeatedly presented in a way that didn’t match reality, and once issues with pay started — especially missing or incorrect commission — the higher‑ups ignored messages completely.

Being left to chase your own wages, with no accountability from management, was by far the most stressful and demoralising part of the job.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The branch team culture itself was genuinely positive — the people on the ground were friendly, supportive, and tried to help each other. Unfortunately, that’s where the good culture stopped. The wider company environment felt disorganised and pressure‑driven, with unrealistic expectations placed on staff and very little genuine support from higher management.

There’s a strong sense of every person for themselves because you’re pushed to hit targets without the tools, clarity, or backing you need. When issues arise — especially around pay or commission — the culture shifts from “teamwork” to silence and avoidance from those above branch level.

Overall, the people you work with day‑to‑day are lovely, but the company culture around them makes it hard to thrive.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day looked nothing like what was advertised. The role was sold as 9:30–1:30 and 4:30–7:30 shifts, but in reality we were often out working long past those hours. Breaks were rarely possible because the pressure to keep pushing for sales was constant.

Most days involved door‑to‑door selling with extremely high expectations to close deals immediately, followed by being pushed to install on the spot — even if it meant staying out until 10pm or later. The culture around this was very “sell at any cost”, and the pressure to perform made the days long, exhausting, and unpredictable.

Firstly you are monitored for the amount of time you are available to take alarms, in other words, sat starring at the screen, no consideration is made for HSE recommendations on visual display equipment, they want you to be a robot sat looking at the screen all your shift.

The job can be very fast paced you are monitored how long you take dealing with alarms and expected to get rid of it quickly to be ready for the next one.

The job is meh, nothing great,  very repetitive.  Alot of the time is spent calling someone to tell them amazon has attempted a delivery, or a shops shutter is rattling in the wind. and the more common disarmed tamper, I'll get to those later.

There are times you speak with awkward customers, however this may not always be their fault, some times they have misunderstood a part of the service, the most common one is the guard service.  This isn't helped by some of the things some sales people claim the service does.

You are often the first voice a customer of verisure will hear, you call to tell the customer of a trigger, included in these triggers are disarmed tamper, an alert that one of the devices my have been knocked or moved posing a possible security risk to the alarm, and in some cases stops the system from working. The idea is you call the customer on receipt of this trigger, find out if anyone has touched the device, and if the customer can restore the device, if they can't you transfer to the customer support team to help.

Sadly it isn't so easy, often the customer isn't there, and if they are some can't fix it, so you transfer in the hope a technician is booked by someone to go out and restore.  The customer support department is often overwhelmed with calls so nothing gets done, you tell the customer you'll raise a ticket for customer service to call back, and they never do.  I've seen call back tickets months old that never been actioned, you start calling over and over for a disarmed tamper that doesn't get fixed, becoming an annoyance for the customer, who takes it out on you.

There are some good and helpful people,  but also some who think they are the best thing since sliced bread, you need to be a strong person just to deal with the staff and that's before calling someone for the 7000th time their front door shock sensor is tampering.

Working as a Team Leader in field sales at Verisure has been a very positive and rewarding experience. The company provides a clear structure, strong training programmes and genuine support, which makes it much easier to develop both yourself and the people in your team.

The initial training and onboarding is one of the strongest aspects of the business. New starters are given a proper introduction to the product, sales process and compliance expectations, and as a Team Leader you’re supported with coaching tools, sales material and guidance so you can effectively develop your team. There’s a real focus on teaching how to sell, not just telling people to hit targets.

Management are approachable and performance-driven but also realistic about the challenges of field sales. Targets are challenging, as expected in a commission-based environment, however the company provides enough structure, lead generation support and performance tracking to make them achievable when the process is followed.

One of the standout points is progression. Verisure actively promotes internally and there is a clear pathway from Sales Executive to Senior, and then into leadership roles. As a Team Leader you are encouraged to mentor and develop future leaders, and the company genuinely backs this up by giving people opportunities rather than hiring externally.

The culture is competitive but positive. Success is recognised, strong performers are rewarded and there is regular communication between management and teams. You are trusted to run your team, manage field activity and implement coaching in your own style while still having the support of regional management when needed.

Like any field sales role, the pace can be demanding, but the support network, earning potential and development opportunities make it worthwhile. For someone motivated by progression and performance, it’s a strong company to build a long-term career with.

Every day was a long day, starting first thing in the morning and finishing late in the evening, despite being told otherwise at interview. They say you only go door knocking when it's quiet, however most days were spent doing so. Verisure also claim to give 60% warm leads (appointments with potential customers already interested), but this could not be further from the truth, warm leads come once in a blue moon and are distributed unevenly. The potential to earn a lot of money is there, however the base salary is £1250 per month, which, given the amount of hours spent working, works out to be WAY below minimum wage. To earn commission, you must first earn the £1250, before you begin earning additional money, something which they do not make clear, so I would advise anyone applying to bear that in mind. If you want to work for a company that supports you, do not work for Verisure, nothing is ever good enough and while striving to be better is a good thing, they do not seem to understand there is a limit and always expect more regardless. Verisure also want their employees to hassle their customers relentlessly, something which I have seen cause people to lose sales over numerous times, but if you don't, management will not be happy and see it as laziness. There will be a lot expected of you with little to no recognition for what you do achieve. This is a company that does not care about their staff, underpaying people and punishing them for trivial reasons. Most of what I was told during my interview was not in fact the truth, leading to a LOT of disappointment and the lies continued once I began work. They also expect you to completely lie to the customers, but of course will not defend you when you get caught out on this. You must also be willing to spend your own money on fuel, as the fuel allowance nowhere near covers the ridiculous mileage. I found my colleagues to be friendly, however you must be aware of people being two-faced, as the job can be competitive. You will do a lot of exercise, walking for hours sometimes, so it's good for people trying to be fit. In conclusion: Definitely would not recommend and could not wait to leave!

The job consists of a 37.5 hours working week. 5 days in 2 off.
You would think it's simple to organise and revolve your life around a job like that.  WRONG! When it comes to the rota, you'll be lucky to get a month's notice, and forget about trying to plan anything later in the year.  A weekend off? Unless you put in holidays you will never see a Saturday and Sunday off.  You get a Friday/Saturday  or Sunday/Monday
One month you could have Tuesday/Wednesday off the next Sunday/Monday, to facilitate this there will be times around the beginning on the new month yoh will have to work more then 5 days in a row to get to your days off, or less then get only 1 day off.  In this day and age where work life balance is said to be important. It clearly isn't in the Alarm receiving centre.
The job itself is pretty straightforward, as long as you have some knowledge around a computer you get a trigger and deal with it,  however the system is backwards, you could deal with an alarm, close it off and straight away get another while the 2 people to the side of you have had nothing. A few days ago I was getting alarm after alarm, I glance across the room to see other agents just chatting away amongst each other.  How does that work?
The general feel when on shift is negative.  You see all the propaganda verisure put out with happy staff and all that? Couldn't be further from the truth.  Most of us are only there for the pay, working experience itself is soul destroying.  As you deal with more customers it starts to feel like you're working for a company that exploits people's fears, fortunately you usually end up telling them it was a false alarm. 
Some of the management will speak about being governed or regulated by the NSI. Here's the thing, the NSI isn't a regulator/governing body, it's an accreditation service, and there is a big difference. Just one example how managers will lie to staff, I'm not sure if they knowing lie, or are just completely ignorant.

I worked in the ARC in London. The managers were deeply unprofessional. They were a pair of narcissists who spent the working days praising themselves. Yet they were utterly incompetent. Rotas were constantly changed with hardly any notice. Holidays were extremely difficult to schedule and the manager played favourites. Questioning decisions or making suggestions were taken as personal attacks and dealt with in an entirely unprofessional and aggressive manner, involving the manager shouting at you as though you were his child. The managers were completely ignorant of UK employment law relating to sickness, disciplinary procedures or dismissal. They lied through their teeth about numerous matters and treated employees like children and slaves. 

Consistently understaffed, employees could be waiting nearly their entire shift before being able to have lunch I  the last hour of their shift or sometimes not at all. Due to the constant rota changes it was impossible to make plans with families and friends. Managers and team leaders would send round ultra positive messages to arc ambassadors (an example the ridiculous hyperbole describing an alarm receiver) and then fire people with no warning or due process. The HR department actively conspire with the management to ignore and conceal employee rights and to protect the management.

The pay was higher than the average call centre job but the lack of life/ work balance and the unprofessional and incompetent behaviour of management offset this entirely. Whilst I was there working hours were extended without any form of additional compensation in terms of salary or time off at a time when the company had done extremely well in terms of sales and growth.

Don't work here unless you are desperate.



First and foremost, the Head of Legal Department's incompetence has created a toxic and unproductive work environment.

Moreover, their leadership style is extremely detrimental. They exhibit a complete disregard for the concerns and well-being of the team, leading to a high turnover rate. Talented and experienced employees have been driven away due to the Head of Legal's unprofessional behavior, creating a constant state of flux within the department. This instability negatively impacts the company's ability to effectively handle legal matters and undermines its overall credibility.

Advice for management?

Address High Turnover: Take immediate action to address the issue of high turnover, especially within the legal department. Conduct exit interviews to gain insights into the reasons for employee departures and identify any underlying issues. Focus on improving employee engagement, morale, and job satisfaction to reduce turnover and retain top talent.

Foster a Positive Work Culture: Cultivate a positive work culture that promotes teamwork, respect, and appreciation. Encourage a healthy work-life balance and provide opportunities for employee recognition and rewards. A positive work culture will boost employee morale, productivity, and loyalty.

Hold Managers Accountable: Ensure that managers, including the Head of Legal Department, are held accountable for their actions and their impact on the team. Set clear performance expectations and regularly evaluate their effectiveness as leaders. Address any instances of unprofessional behavior or incompetence promptly and take appropriate actions, including coaching, training, or even personnel changes if necessary.
