Your start time is 10.00am but you have to be there and ready to listen to a conference call from a regional manager at 9.45 am. Then your day starts. They have recently changed your appointment time from 30 minutes per customer to 20 minutes per customer and have changed the system to allow double booking. So your day can start with 6 appointments in the first hour.
There are many different reasons why someone would want to sell their car and some of the reasons could be dubious and can effect you if you get it wrong.  Therefore in the first instance you need to build a rapport with the customer, then you need to verify their paperwork, then assess the vehicle (outside, in all weathers and light conditions), load your assessment into the system that would then advise you the offer. Invariably, the discussion arises that the customer was originally offered X and is now being offered a lot less. Then starts to process of explaining why , and this can encompass many reasons, firstly the condition of the vehicle (when customers go on line they rarely add condition so therefore their vehicle is quoted as a grade 1 vehicle. The quote system does not make it easy / obvious for condition to be added, also recently the answerable question initially regarding MOT has been removed. This then gives an initial quote value higher than it is likely to be after assessment) and other variables such as mileage was wrong, EML light on, imported vehicle, wrong vehicle put on quote system...the list go on and on....All these things could have been made available (easily) to the customer when doing the quote but that would lower the initial quote price and the customer would not come in....If you purchase the vehicle you then have to complete all the admin work (all buyers learn early on not to leave the admin until later - you'll be there, unpaid, until late at night, alone, usually on some desolate industrial site or car park (Oh! because everything around you is shut      - no toilet for many buyers) then you need to take specific photographs (finding the VIN on some vehicles can be very time consuming) load them and your admin on to the system, pack all the paperwork into individual envelopes for collection. Park and secure the vehicle (in some cases this can be quite a way away) All this in 20 minutes per appointment!!!
I was actually in this role long enough to experience all the negatives, it i snot pleasant. Even though I had good months they never count. I left because the role is untenable. Non purchases, no shows and cancellations all go against and wipe out you very hard earn't bonus, which in turn increases the profit to the company. You could be the company's top purchaser for a year, but have two bad months on the trot and you will be on a performance review that will see you out the door if not back on track in the third month, and believe there can be many variables that can prevent that that are completely out of your control. 
In my experience the area / regional managers are, in the main, x buyers that have no managerial experience and definitely no man management skills. There only interest is meeting their volume targets whether that is at your expense or not. They will sometimes raise the value that you can put back into a deal (Known as flexing) but they are doing this only to raise their volume amount but putting more flex into a vehicle will have a profound effect on you personal accuracy score which in turn can have an affect on your bonus that you have legitimately earn't... the longer you are in this role the more you are pounded no matter how good you may be ... I could go on for a lot longer here with many more reasons but hopefully you have an insight... if you want some enjoyment out of your job, a reasonable work life balance, want to work in reasonable conditions with reasonable people above you and get paid what you have legitimately earn't then you definitely do not want to work for We Buy Any Car -  you will very quickly become deflated and your confidence WILL be crushed and then you will be unceremoniously dumped and replaced by another 'lamb to the slaughter', you will not be thanked , unlikely to receive any bonus you may have earn't the month before or the current month, no exit interview and no thanks....DON'T DO IT - like so many before that have regretted it. (the attrition rate of buyers is horrendous!! with this company).

When you go for the interview they sell you the job like there is no other one on the market like it and they promise you enormous bonuses, but....
-1st week is done by people who don't have any knowledge about buying cars, for ex one guy from there was a former trainer in Poundland before coming as a trainer at webuyanycar!
- Working hours : Monday to Friday 09:30 - 19:00, Saturday 08:30 - 18:00, Sunday 09:30 - 17:00 - bare in mind you will work weekends mandatory, and they decide when you will have days off! - they don't tel you that at the interview! 
- Appointment time : first 3 months, 40 min per appointment, in between 3-6 months 30 min per appointment, after 6 months 20 min per appointment! - When you are on 20 min/appointment, max customers you can see in a day are 20 to 30 -  they don't tell you this at the interview! 
- Be ready for double appointments, 2 customers booked in the same time, same hour - that will mess your whole schedule when they both show in the same time! 
- f you are no that busy, then you are expected to make loads and loads of prospect calling! 
- If you are very busy, you are a designate, area buyer expect to go home late or come in earlier because you are expected to finish the paperwork of your purchases before  next day opening hours and you are NOT Paid, they call it sacrifice for career! For ex. If you have 10 cars on site by the end of the day that you need to do the paperwork, it can take 1:30H - 2.00H to finish them! - you are not paid for this hours! 
- if you are an Area Buyer they will not close your branch earlier so you can leave early compare to a person that has it's own branch and lives 5 miles away from the branch, same applies to a Designate Buyer! - so expect to get home very late! 
- If it's snowing and you can't attend, you call sick, customer doesn't show at the app time, customers canceles the app, you don't buy the car, you can't buy the car as it's not your fault ( various cases ), customers books the app by mistake and canceles or doesn't show, etc... - all this appointments counts against you and will affect your figures by the end of the month in regards to your bonus. 
- In order to get the bonus you have to go above branch target ( a lot of branches have exaggerated targets, hard to achieve ) and you need to be very accurate when you check vehicles 9 they have a minimum standard ( again exaggerated) !  - if  you don't reach non of them or one of them for a few months, they get ride of you!
- Be ready for stress, loads of it, Managers with no experience, they will blame the team for not progress, low work ethic, no matter how good you are they can get rid of you at your first mistake and also be ready to rip people off in order to buy cars! 
- 95% of the branches are POD's, some with no toilet, so you are expected to work and inspect cars no matter how the weather is and there is no cover! - raining, snowing, storm, hurricane -  if you get ill to many times, they will get rid of you!

Worked for a number of years at WBAC, If you perform well and meet the ever changing targets they set you will be left alone to get on with it but the minute you are not buying loads of cars and taking money of the offer you make to the customer they slap you with a “performance improvement plan”  An example of this would be that even without a manager seeing the car you are buying you will get a slap on the back if you constantly devalue the vehicle by over 30% which only results in the customer getting less money for the car but the company making more money. 
Any car that is under 10years old you buy will be examined again by our parent company BCA before going to auction, your bonus is based the final monetary offer you buy the car for compared to the amount of damage you have found on the car when purchasing. In my experience the buyers that make most bonus are the buyers that find a lot of damage on a car when there is none there, eg BCA will find always 100% of the damage on a car but the high bonus earners typically find over 150% damage on a car, make of that what you will!!!
  On the other hand there is good bonus to be made for the elite buyers in the company, until of course the company thinks you are making too much money so they raise your targets. That is a result of the very amateurish senior management thinking they can squeeze a bit more performance out Of a buyer by trying to push you harder, they are of the opinion that the stick is better than the carrot when dealing with employees, very old fashioned motivational models that have no place in the 21st century.
  Don’t expect any pay rises as I am aware there has never been one in the last 5 years which ultimately means your wages actually drop year on year, I.e. RPI has been 2.5% for the last two years which means my wages are worth 5% less now over the last couple of years.
  Be aware that if you are ever asked to work in a different branch the company will not reimburse you travel or fuels costs and you will get asked constantly.
  Free speech in the company is slapped down immediately within the company even going so far as to discipline people for speaking badly with colleagues about the company. There is no employee forum and no voice for the workers within the company, this is a deliberate choice by senior management to prevent employees discussing conditions and concerns.
  In webuyanycar you are always just a number made to feel worthy if you do well buying cars but they are ruthless if you don’t meet targets.

Where do I start? Most of the branches are cold and dirty working environments. In the year and 2 months that I was there not once did I see a cleaner at my branch. Everything caped in dust, carpets and walls stained, microwave filthy, kettle covered in limescale, dirty smelly dish clothes, foul toilets and the list goes on! As an employer they should be responsible for ensuring we are put in clean facilities! Now let’s talk about the job as a buyer... Your taught to inspect vehicles in a way that purposely rips the customers off, WBAC tell customers that a few stone chips is a bodyshop repair even if it’s a 15 year old car. Constantly micro managed and when people cancel or don’t t turn up they make out that it because of you. They expect you to be on Confrence calls 30 minutes before start everyday and you are not paid the extra time. They allow double booked appointments even with only one person in the branch and in 15 minutes your expected to inspect the car, check all the customers documents, haggle on price and do all of the paperwork and scanning and take photos. Still get double booked 30 minutes before we’re supposed to finish so you end up doing an extra unpaid 2 hours just to get everything done! Very few people have set branches they make you believe you will be settled in a branch and then throw you around like a rag doll without even asking if you mind covering a different branch. The job was so stressful that it was affecting my relationship with my partner and kids and making me miserable in day to day life, no shows and cancellations go against your target even if you buy most of the cars that actually show up and then your put on performance reviews! If you want to work 55 hours a week or more in and feel like your job is constantly under threat then this is perfect for you. I did not work my notice I just walked out on them I physically and mentally could not cope another day! An example of what they do is... A 2002 BMW comes in at £1000, it has a few scrapes on the alloys and a few stone chips on some of the panels, customer offered 50% or less for those things. They are owned by British car auctions and we are targeted on accuracy so have to knit pick every little chip on the car just to get our accuracy at an acceptable level. This company was done by trading standards in the past and are still doing the same practices. I bought a nearly new car and when it got to the auction they claimed I had missed a dent over 3cm which they class as a major bodyshop when in reality would cost less than 100 pounds and is a smart repair! There was definitely not a dent on this car. Anyway enough ranting, just don’t do it and trust me!

Unfortunately the best way to describe working for this company is the donkey and the carrot metaphor. The basic pay is 'OK', and there is potential to earn some good money via your monthly bonus. Only approximately 10% of the employees are able to earn good money via the bonus, as its only the top 10% that qualify for higher bonus figures. The company uses this top 10% to make it seem like earning big bonuses is normal for all employees, however actually earning these bonuses are mostly out of your control. The company move the goal posts every month making it impossible to earn consistently. The work life balance is terrible. There are no scheduled lunch breaks and you are expected to work overtime for no extra pay. The managers make a big deal over having the odd weekend off unless its booked as holiday, making it impossible to have any kind of social life. The typical working hours are 10-7, which seems OK in principle. However in reality you almost always leave work late, meaning by the time you get home and have something to eat, its time to go to sleep to wake up and repeat. The company have completely unrealistic 'productivity' targets and frequently use this as an excuse to performance manage people out of the business that they do not like.

I managed to last a few years at this company, mostly down to the fact that some of your co-workers will be nice people. Career progression is almost non existent. There are hardly ever any internal promotions to managerial roles. Staff turnover here is shocking, if you last beyond your 6 month probation you are considered a 'veteran'. Depending on who your manager is and your relationship with them, you may not even stand a chance at lasting 6 months. Some managers frequently bully members of staff and use scare tactics, particularly during the probationary period, forcing these newer staff members to go WAY beyond what should be expected of them.

On the positive side, the job itself can be quite fun. You meet some interesting people and occasionally get to purchase exotic cars.

What did I learn here? Very little unfortunately. Each conversation I had with a senior manager I physically felt brain cells dying. The job itself is not particularly challenging once you understand what is needed, and the majority of tasks become monotonous

What is the best part of working at the company?
A lot of down time at work. If your figures are good then the RMs take into account preference on days off (apart from weekends) if possible. Bonus  can be okay/decent if you do well and hit kpi'seach month. Base pay is decent. Supportive team and if you ask for help or advice everyone does help.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
No toilet (you use public toilets on retail park), no hot water at most branches (just cold) or any amenities youd get in other work places like kettle, microwave etc. Obviously exposed to the elements when looking at cars in all whether whether it's hot,cold or raining. Heating provided, in heatwaves theres no fans provided and the company doesnt really like to pay out they try to keep expenses minimal (like most nowadays). You have two main targets to hit each week, miss one of them and you don't get any bonus from that week even if you were just off. Goes on a week to week basis then paid the following month. Key swaps and on your days off which isn't optinal. You work 5 days a week if full time: 9:30- 7pm weekdays, Saturdays 8:30-6 and Sundays 9:30-5 so not much work life balance and everyone has to work weekends pretty much (you only get one off now and then but you can't choose when). No flexibility in rotas as lone working so what you're contracted and put down to do- you do it. Can't leave an hour or two early even if it's quiet or you haven't seen someone for 4 hours. Higher management always push for more buys and targets with no excuses such as they didnt want to sell or weren't happy with the prices.If someone cancelled, doesn't show up, fake appointments they all go against you and aren't put into consideration if you don't hit(can happen often) sometimes its draw of the luck. You're expected to hit and meet targets otherwise put on pip (like any sales or retail job to be honest) if you don't hit over a certain period. The job isn't for everyone and you need to have a certain personality to enjoy it and do well.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
You manage your appointments, confirm calls. Valuting cars and you need a keen eye for detail. Objection and complaint handling, the general public can rude so you'd need to be prepare to handle that often but many are delightful.

I am a Former Employee of WBAC this company is a absolute joke of a company to work for. There is no work life balance. Have to work every weekend, they expect you to get everything done in 20mins eg:going through all documents, inspection of vehicle, finding vin numbers, negotiating with customers, taking pictures, uploading pictures, scanning in all documents, the worst thing is they also book you in double appointments and your suppose to get all that done in 20mins what a joke lol. 
Almost everyday I use to end up staying late and completing all the scanning and pictures also sometimes transport will turn up late to take away the cars which takes the mick, I sometimes stay 1-2hours after finish and don't ever get that back or even get a thank for staying behind. You do such long hours and no appreciation shown.
They will book your diary up all day so you dont even get a chance to have lunch, your put in a container which they call a POD without any running hot water or toilet, your expected to inspect dirty vehicles all day long without washing your hands and if you get your own cleaning products like hand gel you fail your audit if found very silly I no.
Your not even allowed a microwave because apperently it is a fire hazard and also fails audit. 
They expect you to starve all day and not use the toilets. 
You get a lot of fake apps, customers not turning up for apps which believe it or not, goes against you. Massive negative attitude from regional managers and above. Absolute no praise or thanks, always want more. Questions when you dont buy cars and being criticised constantly. They rip customers off badly. Marking down tiny stone chips on cars which your gonna expect on all vehicles and other condition items the prices they charge are ridiculous. 
No security cameras in branches so safety is extremely compromised.
This company is just a joke I've worked for them almost 2years they expect you to buy cars for cheap by knocking customers down and expect you to work and hit targets, once they see you making bonuses the bump the targets up so you don't get bonus and once you don't hit target your put on a performance review after 2 performance reviews they get rid of you so your job is not sucure also there is no progression within the company.

Your day starts at 10am but if you go there at 10am you won’t have time to even check your appointments for the day, because the first one might already be there (their appointments start at 10am). 
So for that they thought of telling all employees to come 30mins early in order for them to have this meeting with you to have a useless conversation about how many cars do you THINK you can buy that day. 
And you just lost 30mins that you are NOT paid for. 
Also, if you don’t show up at them meetings you are going to get in trouble for not being at work. Also, even if you don’t have appointments you need to somehow magically make people to come in and sell their cars. 
There are plenty pods with no electricity, so they want you to have your tablet charged from home, which is fair enough BUT pray it won’t die. Or of course charge it in your car. (Why provide the pod then ? ) you must use your phone constantly to call managers for these codes. But managers are busy. So there is times you are waiting there 10-15mins for a code. And the whole appointment SHOULD be only 20mins. 

The system is shocking. That tablet will freeze on you at the perfect time when you’re just about to pay the customer. 
So what do you do ? Start over. I had to start over for 4 times once. And bare in mind you only have 20mins per appointment. So if it is busy and u need to start over the other customers are there waiting for your system to work.. it is an absolute nightmare!
After your shift, if you don’t work at the same branch the next day, you will need to arrange the key swap with the person that works there the following day. 
So you need to have so many people on your personal phone that you’d call more or less every day. Also keep in mind if you need to pick up the keys for the next branch u work at. 
So you just finished work (usually at 7pm) but realistically you have more work to do, worrying about them keys. Why not have like a card system ? Where every employee has a card to unlock the door of the pod ?
All of this in your own time, with your own fuel. I had to travel 20 miles once because this person was fasting therefore they couldn’t come ?! So my manager told me to go drop them off because, I could. So how is that fair ?  

I joined the company back in Feb 2020 , you get sent on an induction that seems great but the fact is you will never do anything you learn at the training day to day . You are then paired with a Model Branch Manager ( branch manager is a very loose term , you are a glorified sales assistant ) who will teach you the real way the want you to tear down any scratches ,dents , chips no matter how small and offer a price that obviously is way below what the customer has been offered online. On average you are offering the customer £1000 less than what they have been offered online. 
Cars under £1000 you just slap a grade on which rips the car usually by half ( thats best case scenario ) 

Hours - you are paid from 10am till 7pm but the expect you to be at the site from 9.30 to do a conference call at 9:45 all unpaid 
* appointments are 20 mins and back to back ( lunch is very unlikely if customers turn up late 
* Appointments can be booked all the way up to 6:40 and that's just to inspect and buy the cars , you also have to take 8 photos of the cars where one of those is the stamped vin which can be a task just to find that on a car. 
More than likely you will never be leaving on time  , expect early mornings and late evenings 
You tally up the hours , you are basically getting paid minimum wage so don't let that salary fool you !
You'll also hear the phrase I need you to do me a favor and a cover a branch because one of your colleagues has seen sense and left the company abruptly , you will pay for the fuel or travel yourself and good luck getting that time and money back. I paid £550 out of my own money for fuel which took me 1 month and half to get back .

Targets 
Majority of sites you are targeted to buy 48 -50% of cars that have appointments booked in . so out of 10 you have to buy 5 but you will never see 10 , you will have customers cancel or not show up so that 10 may turn into 5 people coming in so you better buy all 5 otherwise you aint hitting target. 

You are micro managed so much because these managers for the most come from retail companies that have no real experience in professional settings. 

From the very beginning the tell you half truths,
They your expenses, well they pay a reduced rate for miles only up to the value of a receipt, after that no wear and tear and didn't pay for my travel time.
The training given is nothing like the real thing once you start.
Contract is a 10am start but you have to be in 30 mins prior to prep and team brief on teams which repeats itself time and time again with same badgering.
Don't expect to get paid overtime after working extra hours.
No additional training and if there is they expect you to do it during your lunch break.
No control over achieving your bonus, penalised for cancels and people just looking for a price, hard to get support when it comes to issues on site.
Your lunch break is stressful as they ping emails to everyone telling you they need targets achieved, even when your performing well.
You have to grade a car in all weather's and lighting but the small torch they supply helps you through it.
The bonus has recently changed but still 2 tier as in you work like a dog and if your lucky maybe qualify just to loose it because your maybe out on the grade match.
The managers have no people skills, sheep that have progressed up the brain washed career ladder but show no compassion to family or health issues.
If you want to book a holiday good luck getting that done anytime in advance. 
Most of the buyers just want to make bonus and earn and are hard working, but if you make a mistake they will never no your gone.
I have seen people get charged for uniforms once they leave and money not paid for hours worked and bonuses not paid.
If you make bonus it can be worthwhile but it's stressful making it and you don't normally find out if you have until payday.
If your helping them out to cover a branch they don't pay your travel time.
It's hard to find positives, lots of badgering, bullying and they don't like you fighting back with good answers.
