De Aston School is seeking an enthusiastic, confident and motivated Cover Supervisor to join our friendly and supportive team. This is a varied and rewarding role at the heart of school life, providing an excellent opportunity to work with students across a wide range of subjects and year groups while making a positive impact on their learning and development.
About the Role
As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring that learning continues seamlessly when teachers are absent. Working under the direction of the Cover Manager, you will supervise classes, support students in completing work set by their teachers, and help maintain a calm, purposeful, and productive learning environment.
No two days are the same. One lesson you may be supporting students in Mathematics, the next encouraging engagement in History or Science. You'll build positive relationships with young people, promote high standards of behaviour, and help students stay focused and motivated throughout the school day.
This position is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, those considering a career in education, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking for a meaningful and rewarding role.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supervising classes across a variety of subjects and year groups.
- Delivering pre-prepared instructions and ensuring students complete the work set.
- Creating a positive, respectful, and focused learning environment.
- Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
- Supporting students to remain engaged and achieve their best.
- Responding to questions about lesson tasks and procedures.
- Collecting completed work and providing feedback to teaching staff.
- Supporting students with additional needs where appropriate.
- Upholding safeguarding, health and safety, and school procedures at all times.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who:
- Enjoys working with young people and building positive relationships.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Is confident leading groups of students and managing classroom behaviour.
- Is organised, adaptable, and able to think on their feet.
- Demonstrates resilience, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude.
- Has good literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills.
- Has experience working with children or young people (desirable).
- Holds GCSE English and Mathematics (or equivalent) at Grade 4/C or above.

Hours: 32.5 per week (Mon–Fri, 8:30am–3:30pm), term time only (39 weeks + 5.6 weeks paid holiday)
Salary: Point 9 – £20,170 (FTE: £26,846)
