We are seeking a dedicated Weekend Decorator to join our creative team.
About the Role
Little Angels is looking for an experienced, reliable and self-motivated Weekend Decorator / Maintenance Operative to join our team on a fixed-term contract for up to six months.
Working every Saturday and Sunday, starting at our Cramlington site, you will travel between our nursery settings carrying out painting, decorating and general repair work to ensure our environments remain safe, welcoming and well maintained for our children, families and staff.
This role is ideal for someone who can work independently, manage their own workload and consistently deliver a high standard of workmanship with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out internal painting and decorating to a high standard across multiple nursery settings.
- Prepare surfaces by filling, sanding, repairing and priming walls, ceilings, woodwork and fixtures before decorating.
- Repair minor damage to walls, skirting boards, doors, cupboards, shelving and other fittings.
- Complete general maintenance tasks, including replacing fixtures and fittings, sealing gaps, carrying out basic repairs and making good damaged areas.
- Assemble, repair and reposition nursery furniture and equipment where required.
- Carry out routine maintenance checks and report any larger repairs that require specialist contractors.
- Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to nursery operations.
- Maintain clean, organised and safe working areas throughout each project.
- Safely store and use decorating materials, equipment and tools.
- Travel between Little Angels nursery sites as required.
- Work independently, planning and managing your own workload to meet agreed timescales.
- Follow all health and safety procedures, including safe working practices within childcare environments.
About You
Essential:
- Previous experience in painting, decorating or general property maintenance.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship.
- Reliable, punctual and trustworthy.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable:
- Access to your own vehicle.
- Business motor insurance (mileage between nursery sites will be reimbursed where business insurance is in place).
- Experience working in schools, nurseries or commercial environments.

Additional Information
Please note that this role includes physical duties and applicants must be able to undertake activities such as walking, standing for prolonged periods, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting and carrying equipment and materials, operating cleaning equipment and power tools, and occasionally working at height using appropriate access equipment. The successful candidate will be expected to work safely at all times and follow the Company's health and safety procedures.
