Overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day running of the yard, ensuring it remains safe, efficient, and well organised. This is a hands-on role that requires excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the yard.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe working environment.
- Coordinate the movement and storage of stock, equipment, and vehicles.
- Load and unload deliveries where required.
- Carry out regular yard inspections and ensure health and safety procedures are followed.
- Liaise with drivers, suppliers, and other team members to keep operations running smoothly.
- Report any maintenance issues or equipment faults.
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, logistics, or supply chain management with a focus on yard or outdoor storage environments.
- Strong knowledge of category management principles and process improvement methodologies.
- Hands-on experience with materials handling equipment such as forklifts; certification preferred.
- Excellent data analysis skills to interpret operational metrics and drive strategic decisions.
- Ability to lead teams effectively while maintaining high safety standards in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in shipping & receiving processes, picking & packing activities and inventory control.
