HEAD CHEF – SHANDON PARK GOLF CLUB
An opportunity to lead, develop and shape our kitchen operation.
Shandon Park Golf Club is looking to appoint an experienced and enthusiastic Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and play a key role in the continued development of our food offering.
Our clubhouse is at the heart of a busy members’ club, catering for everything from everyday bar food and Sunday lunches to competition days, society outings, private functions and major Club events.
We are looking for someone who can combine excellent food with strong kitchen management and sound commercial awareness.
The Role
Reporting to the Hospitality Operations Manager, the Head Chef will have responsibility for the day-to-day management and performance of the kitchen, with the freedom and support to lead the kitchen team and develop our food offering.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing appealing, seasonal menus suited to our members, visitors and events
- Delivering consistently high standards of food and presentation
- Leading, developing and motivating the kitchen team
- Managing food costs, gross profit, stock control and purchasing
- Building effective relationships with suppliers and achieving value for money
- Managing kitchen staffing and wage costs within agreed budgets
- Maintaining excellent standards of food hygiene, health and safety
- Planning effectively for busy competition days, functions and Club events
- Working closely with the Hospitality Operations Manager and front-of-house team to ensure a joined-up approach across the whole hospitality operation
- Contributing ideas and recommendations to improve the Club's food offering, operational efficiency and commercial performance
About You
You may already be an experienced Head Chef looking for a new challenge, or a strong Sous Chef ready to take the next step in your career.
You will be organised, commercially aware and comfortable leading a busy kitchen. Just as importantly, you will understand the value of consistency, teamwork and building good relationships within a members’ club environment.
We want someone who takes pride in what leaves the kitchen, understands the numbers behind a successful food operation and has the ideas and enthusiasm to help us move forward.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and benefits
- A permanent, year-round position
- Responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen and the opportunity to shape its future direction
- Genuine input into menus and the development of our food offering
- The support of an experienced hospitality management structure
- An established Club with a busy calendar of golf, social and private events
- The opportunity to build, lead and develop your own kitchen team
This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who wants to take ownership of the day-to-day kitchen operation, introduce new ideas and build a food offering they can be proud of, while working as part of a wider hospitality management team.
