Event Steward (Part-Time) — East London
Location: Our new East London markets
Hours: Sundays, roughly 5.5 hours from 9am–2:30pm per event day, can vary shift to shift

We run some of London's best-loved markets, from our flagship Peckham Carboot to our newer sites across the city. We're launching two new markets in East London this autumn, and we need paid, part-time stewards to help them run smoothly from gates open to pack down. You'll be the friendly face of the market, sorting out traders, visitors and anything that comes up on the day.
Dates we need cover for:
- 6 September
- 20 September
- 4 October
- 1 November
- 15 November
You don't need to be free for all five, but please let us know which ones you can do when you apply. The more you can cover, the better!
What you'll be doing
- Helping set up before trading starts at 10am and clearing down at the end of the day (signage, barriers, etc)
- Checking traders in when they arrive and directing them to their pitch space
- Making sure pitches are set up in the right spot, and sorting out any space issues that crop up
- Managing the entry queue, taking entry fees, being a friendly face for visitors
- Keeping the site safe, tidy and litter-free all day
- Dealing with questions and small problems on the spot, and flagging anything bigger to the event manager
What we need from you
- Reliable and punctual. Event days start at 9am, we need to know we can count on you!
- Friendly and easy to talk to. You'll be dealing with traders and the public all day.
- Happy being on your feet outdoors, whatever the weather.
- Calm when things get busy or change at the last minute, good common sense.
- Clear communicator, whether that's directing a trader or helping someone who's lost.
- Experience stewarding, or working at markets, festivals, or in a customer-facing role is preferable.
- An interest in vintage, secondhand or the car boot world is a bonus.
