An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Optical Assistant to join our friendly team at Tuite Opticians in Wishaw on a full-time, permanent basis.
Established in Wishaw in 1983, Tuite Opticians is an independent, family-run optical practice with a long-standing reputation for providing professional, personal eye care to our local community.
The Role
As an Optical Assistant, you will play an important role in the day-to-day running of our busy practice, providing a friendly and professional experience for our patients from the moment they walk through the door.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming and assisting patients and customers
- Helping patients select suitable eyewear
- Carrying out spectacle repairs and adjustments
- Assisting with the preparation and dispensing of eyewear
- Carrying out visual field screening
- Managing appointments and responding to patient enquiries
- Supporting our Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians
- Learning about spectacles, lenses and other optical products
- Using our Practice Management System (XEYEX)
- Carrying out general administrative and practice duties
- Building friendly, professional relationships with our patients
- Helping ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the practice
You will work as part of our established team of Optical Assistants, alongside three experienced Optometrists and two experienced Dispensing Opticians. You’ll be joining a supportive team environment where everyone works together to provide a high standard of care to our patients.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Ideally has at least 2 years’ experience in an optical practice
- Is friendly, approachable and confident when dealing with people
- Is well presented with an outgoing personality
- Is reliable, organised and responsible
- Has excellent communication and customer service skills
- Is confident using computers
- Can multitask and work effectively within a busy practice
- Is willing to learn and develop their optical knowledge
- Works well as part of a close-knit team
Experience using XEYEX or a similar Practice Management System would be preferred, although this is not essential as training will be provided.
For the right candidate, there may also be opportunities to further your education and progress your career within optics.
