Johnson May Solicitors is looking for an enthusiastic, creative and organised Junior Marketing Assistant to join our team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop a career in marketing and business development within a professional services environment.
Previous marketing or legal-sector experience is not essential. We are more interested in finding someone who is creative, commercially aware, confident using technology, well organised and genuinely willing to learn.
You will work closely with the Managing Director and will be supported in developing your marketing skills and understanding of the Firm’s business development strategy.
The Role
The principal focus of the role will be marketing and business development. Your responsibilities will include:
- Creating and scheduling engaging social media and LinkedIn content
- Helping to maintain the Firm’s website, Google Business Profile and wider online presence
- Assisting with SEO, keyword research and improving the Firm’s online visibility
- Preparing blogs, newsletters, email campaigns and other marketing content
- Editing short-form video content for publication
- Helping to develop and implement targeted marketing campaigns
- Researching competitors, prospective clients and business development opportunities
- Supporting networking and relationship-building activities
- Monitoring client feedback and reviews and helping to generate genuine recommendations
- Tracking enquiries, lead sources, conversions and marketing performance
- Preparing simple reports to help identify what is working and where marketing activity could be improved
You will also assist with new enquiries, lead progression and client onboarding, helping to ensure that prospective clients receive a prompt, professional and welcoming first experience of the Firm.
From time to time, you may also be asked to provide ad hoc legal and administrative support to solicitors and other members of the team. Appropriate guidance and supervision will be provided.
About You
We would like to hear from you if you:
- Have a genuine interest in marketing, digital marketing, social media and business development
- Write clearly and accurately and have good attention to detail
- Are creative and enjoy developing content and new ideas
- Are comfortable using technology and learning new software
- Are organised and able to manage and follow through on tasks
- Are confident communicating with prospective clients and professional contacts
- Are proactive and willing to contribute ideas
- Can use your initiative whilst recognising when to ask for guidance
- Are enthusiastic about learning and developing your marketing skills
- Are professional and understand the importance of confidentiality when working within a law firm
Experience using social media platforms, Canva, CapCut or other video-editing software, LinkedIn, Google Business Profile, website content-management systems or SEO tools would be helpful but is not essential.
Training and guidance will be provided, so we welcome applications from candidates who may not yet have formal marketing experience but can demonstrate enthusiasm, creativity, initiative and a genuine willingness to learn.
