Our entry-level rail pathway provides eligible applicants with the knowledge, practical skills and railway safety training needed to progress towards work as a Rail Track Operative.
No previous railway experience is required.
Training includes:
- Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Rail Engineering - Track Maintenance
- Level 2 Certificate in Rail Engineering
- Personal Track Safety
- Track Induction
- OLEC1
- Small Tools training
- Practical track-maintenance experience
The role of a Rail Track Operative can involve:
- Maintaining and renewing railway track
- Using tools and track-maintenance equipment
- Checking rails, sleepers and other components
- Preparing materials and work areas
- Following safety procedures and instructions
- Working outdoors as part of a team
We are interested in your attitude and reliability - not whether you have previously worked on the railway. You should be:
- Motivated to move into employment
- Able to attend and complete the full training programme
- Willing to undertake physical and practical work
- Comfortable working outside
- Prepared for railway shift patterns
- Able to follow safety rules carefully
- Willing to complete medical and drug and alcohol screening when required
Pay: From £16.00 per hour
