Job Overview
To efficiently coordinate and process air freight export shipments from booking through to departure, ensuring all documentation, customs requirements, customer instructions and airline procedures are completed accurately and on time.
Responsibilities
- Process and coordinate air freight export shipments from booking to uplift.
- Liaise with airlines, freight forwarders, hauliers, customs agents and customers.
- Prepare and check export documentation, including Air Waybills, commercial invoices, packing lists and certificates where required.
- Ensure shipments meet airline, customs and security requirements.
- Enter shipment details accurately into internal freight/warehouse systems.
- Monitor shipment progress and provide customers with timely updates.
- Arrange collections and deliveries with transport providers.
- Check cargo dimensions, weights, routing and flight details.
- Ensure customs declarations and export procedures are completed correctly.
- Handle amendments, delays, discrepancies and operational queries.
- Maintain accurate shipment records and filing.
- Communicate with overseas offices and destination agents where required.
- Ensure company procedures and relevant aviation/security regulations are followed.
- Support the wider export team during busy periods.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in air freight, freight forwarding, logistics or export operations.
- Good understanding of air freight export procedures.
- Knowledge of export/customs documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Competent IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office and freight-management systems.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, airlines and suppliers.
Desirable
- Experience with Cargowise or another freight-forwarding system.
- Knowledge of UK export customs procedures and CDS.
- Experience with airline cargo systems.
- Understanding of IATA/air cargo requirements.
- Dangerous Goods awareness or relevant training.
- Previous experience in a busy airport/cargo environment.
Pay: Up to £35,000.00 per year
