The Lifeguard plays a vital role in ensuring the highest standards of safety, customer service and operational excellence throughout the swimming pool. Working as part of the Leisure Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining continuous supervision of the swimming pool, responding effectively to emergencies, supporting
swimming lessons and pool activities, and helping to deliver an outstanding
experience for every user of the facility.
This role requires a proactive, professional and safety focused individual who is committed to maintaining exceptional standards whilst supporting the continued development of Rossall Swimming Pool.
Working hours will include early mornings, evenings, weekends and school holidays to support both school and community programmes.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Qualifications
- A current National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) - or you’re a strong swimmer willing to gain this through training before commencing the job
- Ability to perform water rescues and emergency
- procedures confidently
Essential Skills and Experience
- Strong communication interpersonal skills
- Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure
- Reliable, responsible, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Swimming Teacher Qualification
- Experience working with children and young people
- Experience in educational, leisure, or boarding environment
- Pool plant operator qualification or willingness to undertake training
The planned start date for this role is September 2026. The position is term time only plus six weeks. The salary is £19,900 per annum (£23,100 full-time equivalent).
