As our Scottish operation continues to grow, we're looking for an Freight Forwarding Operator to join our Operations team.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of shipments from start to finish, build strong customer relationships and become part of a collaborative business that genuinely invests in its people and their development.
The Role
Reporting to the Branch Manager, you'll manage import and export shipments from booking through to final delivery, ensuring every shipment is handled efficiently, compliantly and with exceptional customer service.
You'll work with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers, customs authorities and internal teams to keep shipments moving efficiently, resolve challenges proactively and deliver an outstanding customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing import and export shipments from booking through to final delivery.
- Coordinating with customers, overseas agents, shipping lines, hauliers and suppliers.
- Monitoring shipment progress and proactively resolving operational issues.
- Delivering great customer service to our customer base
- Preparing and managing shipping documentation and customs requirements.
- Planning UK transport and final deliveries.
- Maintaining accurate shipment records and milestones within CargoWise.
- Completing job costing, supplier cost verification and invoicing.
- Providing proactive customer updates and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Ensuring customer SOPs, compliance requirements and service standards are consistently met.
- Building strong relationships with customers, suppliers and logistics partners.
About You
We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced freight forwarding environment and enjoys delivering excellent service.
You'll have:
- Experience working in freight forwarding.
- Strong understanding of sea freight import and export operations
- Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
