Job Summary
We’re looking for friendly, professional, and energetic Bar & Waiting Staff to join the team at Mercure St Helens Hotel. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a lively late-night environment, enjoys meeting new people, and takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service. You’ll be responsible for serving drinks, taking orders, maintaining the bar and floor area, and ensuring every guest has a great experience from start to finish.
Duties
- Greet guests with a warm and professional attitude, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Prepare and serve drinks to a high standard, maintaining speed and accuracy during busy shifts.
- Take food and drink orders accurately using the venue’s POS system.
- Deliver drinks and food promptly, ensuring presentation and service meet venue standards.
- Build rapport with guests and provide recommendations to enhance their experience.
- Upsell menu items, premium drinks, and table service options to increase sales.
- Keep the bar and service areas clean, organised, and fully stocked throughout the night.
- Collaborate with the team and management to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and licensing regulations.
Skills & Experience
- Previous bar or hospitality experience is preferred but not essential — full training provided.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-focused approach.
- Confident working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
- Basic numeracy skills for handling payments and transactions.
- Positive attitude, professional appearance, and team-player mindset.
