We are looking for a proactive and detailed-oriented Assistant Management Accountant to support the Finance Manager in producing accurate and timely management information, including month-end accounts, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
The role will help maintain strong financial controls, provide clear insight into business performance and support department managers with information that enables effective decision-making.
Accountabilities
The accountabilities include, but are not restricted to:
Compliance & Controls (40%)
· Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
· Assist with audit preparation and information requests.
· Maintain robust financial controls and identify process improvement opportunities.
· Support compliance with relevant accounting standards and internal policies.
Month End (25%)
· Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
· Support month-end and year-end close processes.
· Prepare accruals, prepayments and journal entries.
· Reconcile balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies.
· Assist in producing monthly financial reports and KPI dashboards.
Financial Analysis (20%)
· Conduct profitability and cost analysis to identify trends and opportunities.
· Assist with producing meaningful management information and business insights.
· Support ad hoc projects and financial modelling as required.
· Analyse operational performance and provide recommendations to improve efficiency.
Budgeting & Forecasting (10%)
· Support the annual budgeting process across departments.
· Assist in the preparation of periodic forecasts and reforecasts.
· Analyse budget versus actual performance and investigate variances.
· Provide financial data and analysis to support planning activities.
Business Partnering (5%)
· Develop relationships with budget holders and department managers.
· Assist non-finance stakeholders in understanding financial performance.
· Support financial decision-making through accurate reporting and analysis.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
· Part Qualified ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent.
· Good understanding of accounting principles and management accounting processes.
· Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and data analysis.
· Excellent numerical and analytical abilities.
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities effectively.
· Experience in a finance or accounting role.
· Experience using ERP or accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Sage, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite).
· Previous experience assisting with budgeting and forecasting processes.
· Exposure to a commercial or operational finance environment.
