About the Role Parkwood Care is looking for an experienced, passionate and ambitious Deputy Manager to join their growing organisation — an opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their leadership career within children's residential care. The Deputy Manager supports the Registered Manager with day-to-day leadership of the home, ensuring children receive exceptional care while driving the service towards Good and Outstanding Ofsted outcomes.
Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help lead a dedicated team providing high-quality care for children and young people aged 9–17 years with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the overall leadership and management of the home.
- Lead by example, creating a positive, nurturing and therapeutic culture.
- Help drive the home towards achieving and maintaining Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings.
- Supervise, coach and develop Residential Support Workers and Senior Residential Support Workers.
- Promote high standards of safeguarding, care planning and regulatory compliance.
- Ensure children receive consistent, high-quality care and positive experiences.
- Assist with staff recruitment, induction, training and performance management.
- Participate in the on-call rota and provide leadership during incidents and emergencies.
- Build positive relationships with families, schools, social workers and other professionals.
- Support the Registered Manager with quality assurance, audits and continuous service improvement.
Essential Requirements
- Experience working in a children's residential setting.
- Experience supervising or leading staff within residential childcare.
- Level 3 or Level 4 qualification in Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Good understanding of safeguarding, children's legislation and Ofsted regulations.
- Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.
- A full UK driving licence.
- The unrestricted right to work in the UK (no sponsorship offered).
Desirable
- Working towards, or willing to complete, the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
- Experience contributing to successful Ofsted inspections.
- Experience supporting quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
