Warehouse Operative

Location: Transit 4 Warehouse, Belfast
Contract: Temporary, with the possibility of becoming permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
Lunch: 1 hour unpaid lunch break
Pay: £12.75 per hour
About the Role
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Warehouse Operative to join our team at Transit 4 Warehouse in Belfast.
Previous warehouse experience is desirable, but full training will be provided, so we are also happy to consider candidates who are new to warehouse work but have a good attitude, are willing to learn and can work well as part of a team.
This is initially a temporary position with the possibility of becoming permanent, depending on business requirements and the individual's performance and suitability for the role.
Overall Responsibilities
To undertake warehouse operational duties associated with the receipt, storage, picking and despatch of customer orders, using mechanical aids where required and working in accordance with company procedures and ISO 9001:2015 Quality standards.
The role may involve overtime and, on occasion, working at other locations and operational departments within the Group.
Specific Responsibilities
- Undertake general warehouse duties in accordance with company procedures and work instructions.
- Receive and verify incoming deliveries, including checking the number of pallets and boxes.
- Off-load containers and palletise goods.
- Process and prepare customer orders for despatch.
- Pick and pack customer orders accurately.
- Check incoming loads for damaged goods and discrepancies.
- Sign in and label goods correctly.
- Check documentation against goods received and despatched.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
- Work effectively as part of a busy warehouse team.
- Use warehouse equipment and mechanical aids safely following appropriate training.
- Follow all Health and Safety procedures and company policies.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
- Be adaptable and flexible in your approach to work.
- Work across different sites and operational departments when required.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.
Experience and Requirements
- Previous warehouse experience is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
- Previous experience working in a busy warehouse environment would be an advantage.
- Forklift experience and a valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence are desirable but not essential.
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport would be advantageous.
- Physically fit and able to undertake manual handling and handballing duties.
- Good communication skills and the ability to understand and communicate effectively in English.
- Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
- Willing to learn and undertake all necessary training.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexible and available to work overtime when required.
- Positive attitude and willingness to follow company procedures and instructions.
- Must have the right to work in the UK and be able to provide appropriate documentation to confirm this.
Training
Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.
Training will include company procedures, Health and Safety requirements and relevant warehouse operations. Where required, additional training may be provided to support the successful candidate in carrying out their role safely and effectively.
Temporary to Permanent Opportunity
This is initially a temporary role with the possibility of becoming permanent, subject to business requirements and the individual's performance, attendance, reliability and suitability for the position.
If the role becomes permanent and the successful candidate passes their probationary period, their salary will be reviewed for a potential increase.
