We are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable person to help us run our new after school activity club, three afternoons a week, in term time. This role involves working with a small team to deliver a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for the children after the school day.
The days of work are Tuesday to Thursday for a minimum of two hours per day, from 15:15 until 17:15, plus some time to tidy up and secure the school afterwards.
Midmar Primary School is in a rural area and it is at the heart of our supportive community.
We anticipate that initially there will be no more than eight children attending each session and their ages will range from P1-P7, i.e. up to 12 years old. We see it as a key aspect of this role that the successful applicant will help us to develop an environment that the children want to attend and the parents will be content that they are safe and well cared for.
The key daily responsibilities of our staff is to:-

Liaise with the teaching staff at the end of the school day to receive the children, according to our club procedures.
- Manage any medicines that the children are using, e.g. inhalers

Supervise the hygienic preparation of snacks with the children.

Supervise free play and help deliver managed activities.

Safely hand over the children to their parents or guardians at the end of the session, following our club procedures.
Depending on your current skills and qualifications your rate of pay is negotiable as is travel support if you live outside the Midmar area. For example previous experience of working with young children or raising a family would be an advantage. Essentially we are looking for people who exhibit common sense and can show they have basic “life skills”.
If you do already have relevant training and qualifications we will need to see certificates that you hold but if you do not, we will arrange the following training for you:-

Because you will be working with children, we also ask all our staff to obtain a clear PVG check (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) from an organisation called Disclosure Scotland.
