Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse with experience in a nursing care home setting to join our team. The successful candidate will provide high-quality nursing care to our residents, develop personalised care plans, and work closely with the wider care team to support residents' physical, emotional, and social well-being. Shift Pattern
- Full-time and part-time positions available
- Long day shifts: 8:00am – 8:00pm
- Night shifts available: 8:00pm – 8:00am
- Working pattern typically 3 shifts per week (full-time), on a rotating rota including alternate weekends
- Flexibility to cover additional shifts, holiday, and sickness absence as needed
Duties
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to residents in accordance with established protocols and individual care plans
- Carry out regular assessments of residents' physical and mental health, documenting findings accurately in line with CQC and regulatory requirements
- Develop, implement, and review personalised care plans tailored to each resident's needs, preferences, and changing circumstances
- Administer medications and treatments safely, following correct procedures for storage, administration, and disposal
- Provide health education and emotional support to residents and their families, particularly around long-term conditions, palliative care, or end-of-life needs
- Lead and mentor healthcare assistants and junior nursing staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive team environment
- Liaise effectively with GPs, district nurses, allied health professionals, and family members to ensure continuity and quality of care
- Monitor residents' health and wellbeing over time, adjusting care strategies as conditions evolve
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in compliance with legal, CQC, and organisational standards
- Ensure infection control procedures and health and safety protocols are strictly followed at all times
- Support residents with dignity, respect, and person-centred care, respecting individual choices and promoting independence where possible
- Respond promptly and calmly to emergencies, escalating concerns appropriately
- Take charge of the nursing home floor during shift, supervising care staff and overseeing the smooth running of the home
Qualifications
- Valid registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC)
- Previous experience working as a Registered Nurse in a nursing care home or similar residential care setting is essential
- Sound knowledge of the needs of older adults, including dementia care, palliative care, and management of long-term conditions
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to guide, supervise, and motivate care staff
- Strong understanding of CQC standards, safeguarding procedures, and relevant healthcare regulations
- Experience developing and reviewing individualised care plans for residents with complex or multiple needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently across multidisciplinary teams and with families
- Exceptional organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities in a busy care environment
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure while maintaining high standards of care
