Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Activities Assistant to join our dedicated team in creating a vibrant, engaging, and supportive environment for our residents. In this role, you will assist carrying out and facilitating a variety of recreational and mentally stimulating activities tailored to meet the interests and needs of seniors. Duties
- Develop and implement engaging activity programs that cater to residents’ interests, abilities, and care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care.
- Lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, games, outings, and exercise classes to promote socialization and physical activity.
- Provide one-on-one support for residents requiring personalized attention or specific care plans related to senior care or dementia care.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities align with individual resident care plans and safety protocols.
- Maintain a safe environment during activities by monitoring resident participation and addressing any safety concerns promptly.
- Document participation and feedback from residents to continually improve activity offerings.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to foster positive relationships and ensure residents’ enjoyment and comfort.
Qualifications
- Prior experience assisting in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication skills to connect with residents of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
- Experience in caregiving or working within a care home environment is advantageous, but not essential.
- Ability to plan creative activities that stimulate mental, emotional, and physical well-being.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the quality of life for seniors.
- Reliable team player committed to providing respectful, person-centered care.
