Mentor - Young People
Location: Birmingham
Salary: £13.50 per hour
Hours: Part Time - various hours minimum 6 hours a day between 9am and 6pm

We are looking for a compassionate, proactive and organised Mentor to join our supported living service and empower young people to develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed to live independently.
You will work closely with young people, particularly those with care experience, disabilities or complex support needs, providing personalised practical, emotional and developmental support. You will play a key role in helping individuals achieve their goals, maintain their wellbeing and build positive futures.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver one-to-one and group sessions covering budgeting, cooking, personal care, routines, time management and tenancy responsibilities.
- Support young people with education, training and employment, including applications, CVs, interviews and accessing local opportunities.
- Promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, self-confidence and positive coping strategies.
- Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns, completing risk assessments and support plans where required.
- Help young people build positive relationships and support networks and engage with their local community.
- Liaise effectively with social workers, families, education providers, employers, health professionals and other agencies.
- Maintain accurate case notes, support plans, risk assessments and progress records.
- Attend reviews, multi-agency meetings, supervision and team meetings.
- Promote equality, inclusion, safeguarding, confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting young people or adults in supported living, social care, youth work, education or a similar setting.
- Is confident supporting individuals with complex needs and promoting independence.
- Has a good understanding of safeguarding, risk management and professional boundaries.
- Is an excellent communicator who can build trusting, respectful relationships.
- Is organised, reliable and able to maintain accurate records.
- Can work independently while contributing positively to a wider team.
- Is committed to equality, diversity, inclusion and person-centred practice.
- Has a genuine passion for helping young people achieve positive outcomes.
