Main Purpose of the Role
Our firm is expanding, and we are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented and client-focused Private Client Solicitor from 3 years’ PQE, to join our Private Client department.
The successful candidate will work as part of a supportive and busy team, advising clients on a broad range of private client matters, including Wills, probate, estate administration, Lasting Powers of Attorney, Enduring Powers of Attorney and related matters. The role will involve managing an appropriate caseload, dealing directly with clients, and assisting senior fee earners with more complex matters where required.

Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Managing Private Client Matters
Advising clients on Wills, estate planning, probate, estate administration and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Drafting Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and associated private client documents.
Preparing and submitting applications for the registration of Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Assisting with probate applications, estate administration and the collection and distribution of estate assets.
Client Care and Communication
Handling initial client enquiries and providing clear, professional and practical advice.
Taking client instructions and identifying key legal and practical issues.
Maintaining regular communication with clients, beneficiaries, executors, attorneys and third parties.
Ensuring clients receive a high standard of service throughout the life of each matter.
Estate Administration
Liaising with banks, HMRC, the Probate Registry, utility providers, investment managers and other relevant institutions.
Assisting with inheritance tax forms and estate accounts, under supervision where appropriate.
Progressing estate administration matters efficiently and in accordance with client expectations and firm procedures.
Matter Management and Compliance
Opening, maintaining and closing client files in accordance with firm procedures, regulatory requirements and compliance obligations.
Ensuring appropriate client due diligence, risk assessments and engagement documentation are completed.
Maintaining accurate and organised electronic and paper files.
Recording time accurately and ensuring billing is undertaken promptly and in accordance with firm processes.
Team Support and Business Development
Supporting partners and senior fee earners on complex or high-value matters.
Contributing to the development of the Private Client department.
Assisting with marketing, networking and business development activities where appropriate.
Keeping up to date with legal developments and best practice in private client law.
Requirements:
The successful candidate should have:
Qualification as a solicitor in England and Wales, from 3 years’ PQE.
A genuine interest in Private Client law, including Wills, probate, estate administration, trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Previous experience in managing a caseload in a Private Client department or role.
Strong drafting, research and analytical skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A professional and empathetic approach to client care, particularly when handling sensitive or personal matters.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Good attention to detail and a proactive approach to progressing matters.
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and, ideally, experience using LEAP case management system.
A flexible attitude to work and the ability to prioritise effectively under pressure.
3–5 years PQE required.
