Role Overview
As a Mechanical Assembly Technician, you will be part of a skilled production team responsible for assembling technically complex, high-value products. Working closely with Manufacturing Engineers and the Cargo Research Team, you will support the build of a new generation of inspection systems while contributing to product quality, testing, and continuous improvement activities.
Responsibilities:
- Assemble mechanical components and complete systems to engineering specifications

Carry out testing of sub-assemblies, including pressure, leak, and coolant system testing

Accurately record assembly work, test results, and any modifications completed

Work in compliance with ISO9001 quality standards and audited processes

Support product quality assurance activities, including root cause analysis of failed hardware

Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to resolve technical and production issues

Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working area in line with 5S principles

Qualifications:
- Time-served mechanical experience

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical documentation

Understanding of mechanical fasteners, bearings, gears, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems

Experience in precision assembly or working with complex machinery

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary environment

Knowledge of design for manufacture within a production environment

Desirable Experience
-
BTEC Level 3 Diploma or Degree in a relevant mechanical or engineering discipline

Experience working with pressure systems and ultra-high vacuum systems

Experience using lifting equipment
-
Forklift truck and scissor lift operation experience
