JOB ROLE: Customer Supply Chain Co-Ordinator
JOB LOCATION: Shepley, Huddersfield
Shepley Spring are the UK's leading bottled water manufacturer with over 20 years' experience in production and are proud to remain a family run business to this day.
The company operates in three manufacturing facilities in Yorkshire and owns several high-speed production lines with the capabilities of producing both still and sparkling water servicing leading retailers such as Morrisons, Costco, Booker Tesco and Iceland through private label and produces the brands Ice Valley® and White Rock® exclusively.
SUMMARY:
The Customer Supply Chain Co-Ordinator is responsible for processing customer orders, booking delivery and collection requirements, and coordinating communication between internal Warehouse, Commercial and Customer Supply Chain teams. The role supports accurate order fulfilment, clear delivery updates and effective day-to-day coordination across all sites.
This role plays a key part in supporting the flow of customer orders from receipt through to delivery, working closely with Warehouse, Commercial and Customer Supply Chain colleagues to ensure orders are processed accurately and customer requirements are communicated clearly. The role requires occasional weekend working on a rota basis.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
Customer Service & Communication
- Act as a key point of contact for customer order queries, delivery booking updates and day-to-day communication between Warehouse, Commercial and Customer Supply Chain teams.
- Process daily customer orders accurately and book the required deliveries or collections with the appropriate haulier or internal contact.
- Provide updates on delivery status to customers and internal teams.
- Resolve delivery-related complaints promptly and professionally.
Transport Planning & Coordination
- Plan daily transport schedules for collections and deliveries across all sites.
- Coordinate delivery and collection bookings to support customer requirements, warehouse availability and agreed delivery schedules.
- Monitor order and delivery status, escalating issues promptly and keeping relevant internal teams and customer contacts informed of any changes.
Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, transport costs, and compliance documentation.
- Support audits relating to transport and distribution activities.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to reduce costs, improve working practices all while maintaining service levels.
- Support sustainability initiatives by optimising loads, reducing empty miles, and improving fuel efficiency.
- Suggest and help implement process improvements within transport and wider supply chain operations.
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal teams, hauliers and customer supply chain contacts.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
- Knowledge of transport regulations and an understanding of logistics best practices (desirable).
- Proactive and commercially aware, with a focus on cost control and service quality.
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in a customer service, transport, logistics, or distribution role, preferably within FMCG or Food / Beverage Manufacturing.
- Experience working with 3PL providers and transport planning systems.
- Knowledge of retailer ordering, booking or portal systems, such as Tesco Connect, Transporeon and Amazon systems, would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and transport management systems (TIMS).
- Experience of Sage 200 would be advantageous but not essential.
SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work accurately under pressure are essential, along with confidence using Microsoft Excel and relevant order, delivery booking or supply chain systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other supply chain management tools.
